Of course, Terry you know because what you said in your post wasn't from the Watchtower, they'd say it's all misguided human reasoning....the same kind that caused Adam and Eve to sin.

1.You cannot do enough to demonstrate your merit or value. Giving your ALL each and every day only gets you through THAT one day.
Yep...it's true. After a lifetime as a Witness and serving at Bethel, none of it matters now that we've left. As far as JW's are concerned....none of it will be remembered by Jehovah....we're doomed. I get the sense from some of them that if there is to be a "New System" they'd be really pissed off if they saw me walking down the street.

Probably because way too many "brothers" started using iPad's and iPhone's as their Washtowel. I've seen it several times before I left, it must've only increased the
last few months. Can't have people accessing the Interwebs to cross-reference their quotes now can you.
Anony M: That's a good point....if Ipads and the like were commonplace in the meeting there'd also be the danger of people surfing the web instead of paying attention. Back in the day, all we could do is day dream or doodle in our Watchtowers.
My Boys have Iphones and whatever question comes up or whatever statement is made in a conversation with them, immediately gets googled, verified and answered. This is the wave of the future....Witnesses included.

I cannot believe my father called me to ask this!
by serenitynow! inso my father, a jw bum who abandoned us when we were children to be with his pioneer whore, called me tonight and left a message.
this is surprising because i have not seen or spoken to him for a couple of years, other than to leave a message a couple of weeks ago to tell him that i had to hospitalize my sister for being suicidal.. i found out about a week ago that one of his very good friends, a brother whose family used to go to the hall with us and used to be close to when we were children is dying in the hospital after having a couple of strokes and a heart attack.
they've been talking about taking him off of the ventilator for a few days.

Did you ask him why he thinks you should help him after he abandoned all of you not once ,but for the second time when you needed him to rescue you from a homeless shelter ? I'd be definetly asking him for an answer to that question and he'd better have a good reason before he'd get any help from me. There is such a thing as being forgiving but for a Father to leave his kids in a homeless shelter is pretty cold to say the least.

by exwhyzee inwe hooked up with a family member who is married and in bethel 15+ years.
it's almost too exhausting to go into the details here so i'll condense everything into a few main areas that were talked about over a few days.. bottom line, my wife and i finally let them know that we are not jw's anymore and so far it looks like they aren't going to shun us.
we had a really nice time with them and their witness friends who assumed we were jw's too and couldn't have been nicer.. our bethelite family members had no idea what we had been through at the hands of he elders that was the final shove out of the organization and were in agreement that things were handled badly.

Thank you so much for posting. I find this very interesting. Because they care for you so much, they listened to what you had to say...........but...and it's a BIG but......will they ever talk to you again ? I hope so ! Sherry
I know Sherry.....I guess time will tell. Although it may appear otherwise on this post, this wasn't an argument, rather it was them being very surprised/concerned that we "walked away", and wanting to understand why. They are relatives so that is in our favor (I think) and including us ,this makes 12 immediate family members in various parts of this State who have simply walked away in the last few years. I'm talking Bethelites/Pioneers /MS who were life long Witnesses.

"where else are we to go?
Broken Promises : They did ask that question in so many words. "What other do other religions have to offer?" I said " I don't know because I was never allowed to find out. To study another religion was tantamount to Apostasy. All I know about other religions is through the Watchtower. Would it be fair for a Lutheran to base his opinion of JW's based upon what he heard about them from his church who might be afraid of loosing him as a member?
Again I was met with blank looks. I told them.... "Guys...I know all the JW logic and line of reasoning and anything you might throw at me, I've already thought about. The trouble is that nothing you say or believe is really proveable. Doubt is the first cousin to faith. To have faith you have to suspend your disbelief. Faith to some means the suspension of critical thinking and those who want hard evidence before carrying out a certain action, are viewed as unfaithful. I can't go from door to door in good conscience showing the people the error of their ways when so much of the evidence they use to do so is unprovable or gets changed every so many years.
The only thing they didn't bring up was the issue of going to war....I'm not sure exactly what I would have said but I might have brought up WW2 amd the Nazi Concentration camps and how happy the Jews, JW's and others must have been that somebody came to their rescue since God had'nt . But who knows...maybe it was his doing to have the alied forces intervene. Who can say for sure.

Thanks Morbidzbaby
I don't want to rock anyone's world or upset anyone's way of life....I just want to be able to let people know I'm not a Witness anymore and the reasons why without them abandoning us. The reason the Society doesn't want faders associating with those that are "in" is because it seems to me even those in "high" places (Bethel) aren't really all that firm in the convicton that they have all the right answers. Even though they beleive they have J's spirit, they realize that a fader can greatly derail them because they aren't really used to seeing things from a non Witness perspective. Even the simplest example or argument can bring to life all the doubts they have lurking under the surface. But that isn't my intent...I just don't want to pretend anymore for fear of being punished.

I told them that even as a life long Witness, I had never heard about Beth Sarim. They just sort of looked at eachother when I brought this up. I told them that it was deeded to the Bible Patriarchs so they'd have a place to life when they were resurrected. How did they know that the Patriarchs weren't already resurrected to heaven and why would they want to live in California instead of their own homeland? They obviously knew about it because they just looked away with an embarrased smile.
