You probably aren't being shunned per say. Despite what they claim from the platform, it's a very " Out of Sight...Out of Mind " group of people. There is always someone else to talk to or include in things if you're not there. They spend their lives looking for new vicitms while once willing ones are dying on the vine before their very eyes. After over 20 years of being quite active and social at the same hall it took the elders nearly 3 years before they came looking for us. I think they were too embarrased to show their faces at our home after realizing how it was their actions that broke the camels back. Without saying anything to anyone, our last meeting was a Memorial and our phone stopped ringing immediately.

I think we are being shunned
by hoser init seems like lately we have been missing out on a lot of invites to congregation gatherings and our field service group has gatherings but we never seem to get invited.
btw this is not a bad thing.

I grew up with 5 former JW's who became millionaires. One very brainey friend left the "truth" in his 30's after being reproved by a group of bumpkin Elders for something laughably minor (think Sparlock). He and his wife along with one sibling, left the Org. and put themselves through college after realizing that they'd never get anywhere they hoped to be without having degrees. Without giving away too much information, I'll say he went on to invent something we all use everyday thanks to Microsoft. His wife travels the globe as a designer, buying goods in the worlds markets and overseeing projects for in an international business you see on every street corner. The former JW sibling works for a major aerospace company and is working on a experimental project you have heard about that will change the world if it happens. All were really teriffic people who realized that they had been duped and had wasted their extreme youth and early adulthood by following a man made orginization.
One friend that was one of my groomsmen in our wedding, develops properties around the world and was heavily used in the Societies international building work. He claims to have witnessed much corruption while working in this capacity but tried to overlook it, putting it down to men's imperfection etc. He was also sent around the country to deal with many of these child mollestion cases that are coming to light. I had never heard of these cases until I came to this site. Then out of the blue he contacted me and in the course of the conversation without any prompting from me, gave me his first hand account of the horrors the children he dealt with, had been through. He eventually left the "truth" claiming that the society forbade him to alert a certain congregation that a convicted child molester he had previously dealt with, was being released from prision and would be moving to their area to begin attending meetings again. He went against their directive and was removed. He is still youngish, is a multimillionaire and runs with famous people, celebrities and sports stars you have heard of and has recetly offered to send his plane to fly me to a certain event you are familiar with. Having been a JW all my life I don't think I'd know how to act around such sophisticated folk. He assures me that most of them are very ordinary in real life and are often baffled at their own acclaim and are often searching for someone they can trust.

Bathroom Designs to avoid Mold?
by Iamallcool inin my home, bleach has been applied on the upper part painted sheetrock wall in the bathroom shower area because of mold 3 times in 4 years.
actually i am tired of it.
i always run the exhaust fan everytime i take a shower.

Make sure your bath fan is adequate and the ductwork is clean/clear.
Use a paint on the walls with mold inhibitor.
Get rid of the carpet (holds spores)
Use a cleaning product like this
Make sure the crawl space under your house has an adequate vapor barrier. (prevent moisture from entering living space)
Make sure your attic is well ventilated. (keeps attic dry and helps rid residual moisture that may enter from the living space)

By taking away the time, or even the ability to feel/perceive time, in order to try to stem the evil things you list above, what goods - possibly overriding goods - are you eliminating?
Did I say anything about taking away time? How cuold there be any order without time? I said I'd change our perception of time as it relates to our own mortality much like it is in the animal kingdon. Animals go about their daily lives doing what they do and they are "programmed" to preserve their own lives yet they don't have a concept of how much time they have left in life and are therefore under no pressure to accomplish, to produce, to accumulate wealth etc as we humans are because we know we only have so much time to get things done before we are too old to care for ourselves anymore.
And is this not evil too? For example, simple charity given to help someone's current situation in hopes of a better future would be eliminated. After all, nobody would care about the future.
With evil eliminated, there would likely be no need for charity nor the need for a "beter" future because the present was free of evil. People would still care about the future but they wouldn't fear it.
You are possibly doing more harm than good, and the evils you remove from the world could be replaced with greater evils. I do not think you can eradicate evil from the world this way (or any way)
Ok so lets leave everything as it is for fear we may add more evils by removing existing evils. Why try to improve anything or even bother having this discussion if that's the case?
If I paint my house it might make my neighbors house look even shabbier and make him feel bad and that wouldn't be very nice of me so I think I'll leave it as it is and never paint it in case it causes some other problem.

I’d probably change something about time because it seems to me time and the lack of it causes fear which manifests itself in troublesome ways in other areas of life. The fear of time running out before you have what you need for your old age or before you have gotten to do what you want to do in your life, or have what you need, can cause people to become desperate.
Greed = I’m going to get all I can while I still have the chance. I’m not going to share what’s mine in case I’m not able to replace it before it’s too late. I don't care who I have to cheat, trample over or outsmart to do it.
Theft/ Murder / dishonesty= I’m going to take what I need because I don’t have time to wait until I can get it for myself and I don’t care what I have to do to get it.
Fear= What if I’m not able to get what I need to live before I’m too old to get it for myself? What if time runs out before I am able to do what it is I love in life? What if I’m not able to find someone to love before I’m too old? What if I don’t have a baby before it’s too late?
Power = I’m going to get control of everyone and everything so that I’m sure to have what I need and get what I want before I’m too old and weak or before someone more powerful takes what I have. I'm going to make it difficult for anyone else to have what they need so that what I have stays of value.
To eradicate evil in the world, I’d have to either grant people unlimited lifespans or cause them to somehow not understand the concept of time as it relates to their own limited lifetime much like the animal kingdom who are programmed to preserve their own lives but aren’t aware of their own mortality and are not concerned about the passage of time. They live from day to day or even moment to moment.

update on my boy
by Aussie Oz inmy son came to visit today, he and i are getting a lot closer since he left his jw home and thanks largely to his mother and step father alienating him big time.
he needs one of his parents to help him out at times and he can't turn to his mother.
thats sad but its her loss, and his i guess.. anyway, he recently got himself a girlfriend, a worldly girl at that.

like most JW teens, he knows bugger all about the beliefs of the Watchtower, i mean, seriously so uninformed that it's like i have to teach him a doctrine in order to demonstrate why its wrong!
Isn't that the weirdest thing and so typical ? Somehow they pick up on the concept that JW's have the only truth out there but they don't really know what the beleifs are exactly. Many have based their whole life around something that they aren't even sure of themselves and will shun their friends and family who disagree with their "beliefs" with only the sketchiest information on what it is they believe themselves. This is another reason , in my opinion, why anyone who recntly had or still has the word "Teen" next to their age.... shouldn't be baptized yet.
This will be an interesting process for you to see things sudddenly dawning on him right before your eyes.

Wow Seth even in it's condensed form your story say's so much. One can just imagine what you have been through and to be fair, can also imagine how your parents must have felt as well. You have carried the knowledge of your sexuality around for years. This is all new to them so hopefully they will soften as they get accustomed to the situation. As a parent I'm not sure what I'd do if my Sons told me they were gay but I do know that short of being axe murders or drug fiends, I can't imagine ever turning my back on them for anything, let alone throw them out of the house without any notice or anywhere to go. Being Gay is not something you can "dicipline" out of someone nor will being unkind help anything either. I'm glad to hear this site was so helpful to you when you were in such a vulnerable state. You sound like a brave soul who likely has developed compassion and character beyond your years.

Governing body member engaged... Again!
by OneDayillBeFree injust found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.
what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!
