To me they are sending mixed messages when they say the words shown in Blondies comment above but then print pictures like this that are meant to give you the opposite impression. The impression that mighty angels are standing at the ready to protect you against harm so long as you are holding a publication in front of someone.

What would Jesus do?
by Christ Alone inlet's not get into an argument over if jesus was historical or not.. i'd just like to know how you think the jesus of the 4 gospels would act and do things in our modern world.
who would he talk to?
what sorts of miracles would he perform?

Calling all posters! What are YOUR questions for Candace Conti, Rick Simons and Kelly Kraetsch?
by cedars ini am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.
i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.
any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

In view of the residial fear and guilt those of us who leave the Watchtower have to overcome, how does it feel to be someone who suing the organization you one time thought was the true religion?
Do your former friends and family now shun you for speaking out ?
If they are shunning you, do they say they are doing so for some other reason besides the lawsuit?
Do you think winning your lawsuit and payment of the settlement by the Watchtower will cause or lead to the eventual collapse of the organization?
Is there a possibility that part of the ruling, if you win, will be that the Watchtower must make a announcement outlining the details of this case to their members as well as an appology to you?
How long do you see the whole lawsuit process taking?

Maybe they'll eventually have Bethelites start producing and assembling low cost electronic readers so the masses will have low cost devices to download and read their literature on. The regular Witnesses could start going from door to door selling presenting them to the public on a donation basis. They could keep on boasting about how progressive and efficient and cutting edge their organization is.

What is up with the influx of electronic readers at the Kingdom Hall
by wannabefree incrazy!.
the local publishers seem to be jumping on the e-reader bandwagon.. sisters even in their 70's are showing up at the hall with ipads loaded with publications for the meetings for crying out loud!.
a couple of these elderly sisters are having me get theirs ready ... should i add coc and captives of a concept ... perhaps studies vol vii ... to the library for them.

One Sunday I saw a blonde sister with an e-reader who was using a highlighter to underline all the answers during the Watchtower Study.

After leaving the WTS have you been left with a phobia about being happy?
by Xanthippe inafter reading flipper's thread about steve hassan's latest book it got me thinking about the stuff on phobias he mentions.
apparently cults deliberately instill phobias in you to cut you off from the real world.. we were constantly being told if we were struggling it showed we were doing everything right because the devil only persecutes those that are doing well.
if i ever said to anyone i am thinking of taking up a hobby or doing some exercise or (very rarely) planning a holiday they were instantly critical.

It takes time after leaving the Org. to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop and to realize it's OK to enjoy your life in the present. Eventually you realize that if something good happens to you, it's not Satan tricking you into staying on the broad and spacious road to destruction. The overly religious have always felt more virtuous when they are suffering. Some even think that if you are doing a job and enjoying it, you must not be working hard enough. It's that old Judeo/Christian martyr complex.

My Wife's 70 something year old widowed grandmother (mother of 12 kids...yes 12 !) was publically reproved for sleeping with the old codger who lived a few doors down from her at the" Idle Wheels Trailer Park " where she lived. She had been a widow since she was in her 50's' and was a Regular Pioneer at the time so it was kind of embarrasing for the family because everybody in the trailer court and at the Hall found out the details of what happened. Don't come a knockin if you see grandma's trailer rockin'. The old fella died shortly after that and never made her an honest woman.

In California, Arnold and Maria Schwarzenegger twice in one weekend once in Sacramento while rafting on the American River and the next day I bumped into them again in Palm Springs in a gift shop. I told them " I promise.... I'm not following you" they laughed. Jay Lenno, Drew Carey, Pat Boone, Doris Phelps (everybody loves Raymond) Katherine Helmund (who's the boss). in Hawaii, Peter Frampton and in Oregon, Brendan Fraser.
I think I stood next to Rosie O'Donnell at a urinal once, but I could be mistaken.

i was remembering that when we were studying the daniel book for the book study back in the day, someone released a pronunciation guide.
i remember studying it closely so i could pronounce all the names right (especially on the section of daniel 11).

Will the year 2034 be the end? Is the WT seeing a glimpse of "NEW LIGHT"?
by suavojr incedar mentioned this on another thread talking about 2014 and the wt.
ray also mentioned how easily it would be for the wt to apply the 1 day for a year rule and make 2034 a special year.. .
they already have a contingency plan enshrined in their literature that will see them through to 2034.. http://www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/2034.html.

So long as there are people who are afraid of dying, there will be those who beleive the end will arrive in their lifetime regardless of what year it is or what happened to those in the past who had the same belief during their lifetime.
