last weekend and my mother dropped this one on me, she'll now be treating me as a df'd person per info she received from a talk at the assembly.
apparently a fader should be treated as "bad association" given the fact they up and left the holy "truth" to splash around in vomit.. .
JW's always pick up and run with any information regarding punishment. Ask them an indepth Bible question....you'll usually get a vague answer or blank stare. Ask them about anything to do with Watchtower policies regarding any kind of punishment, they'll know all about it.
Shunning is the only power JW's are allowed....especially for the sisters.
If I were you I'd let it fade....in a few weeks it'll probably be business as usual if you don't make them draw a line in the sand about it, now.
i know for us exjw's that have awakened from this religion, it seems incredulous that we ever.
could have believed we were going to live forever and never die.. not just never die, but never die, like i was raised to believe with.
the millions now living will never die, garbage.. i said that to my highly educated professional therapist last week.. her eyes got big, and she said gently as to a child, "loislane, we are all going to die".. yes, i know that now, but that is not what my religion taught and i believed, for 60 years.. any thoughts on how i explain this lunacy to her?.

The bad thing is not so much that God planned to eliminate death, but that it was going to happen any day now and there was no need to plan for a future in this world and that if you didn't follow their direction, everyone you know will turn against you and he will kill you and in many of our cases, we'd break our Mother's heart if we ever left the organization or expressed any doubt.
i know its a year away but i wanted to inquire about the hundred year anniversary of 1914. it would be amazing to have a world wide event reguarding all exjws.
i am nowhere near capable of putting this together but i'd like to propose the largest assembly of exjws ever on october 1st 2014. can it be done?
am i the first to bring this up?
Wouldn't it be something if the tens of thousands of former JW's out there showed up at a single District assembly in a major city? They'd outnumber the regular attendees. They could, at a prearranged time, stand up and chant over and over STAY ALIVE TILL 75 or THIS RELIGION IS A SNARE AND A RACKET. Maybe they could even storm the stage and gave a stirring TTAT talk.
Or maybe it would be easier to hire a plane to skywrite above Bethel... THE 1914 GENERATION DIED...SO WHAT HAPPENED ?? They'd probably think it was the fulfillment of the propehcy in Luke 21:11 about "fearfull signs and great sights from the heavens".
whenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.
The constant harping on JW's are exposed to that details how bad things are compared to how good things could be or will be some day, causes (IMO) a condition called Weltschmerz . Weltschmertz is the depression that arises from comparing the world as it is, to a hypothetical idealized world that one envisions in thier own mind. The steady diet of talks, literature and meetings where the flaws in ones current existence are highlighted and then compared to an existence of idealized perfection that is never attained or is repeatedly postponed, is bound to foster an atmosphere of discontent and rather than one of gratitude and appreciation of what one really has. If you want to see this on a large scale, spend a little time at Bethel and notice the altered state the residents there are in, especially the long time ones. It's certainly not what you'd expect to see at the world headquarers of God's happy people.

looking at the public dec 2013 watchtower under bible questions answered it looks like they are saying that the invisible return of christ is completely in the future.
i thought that they always said it started in 1914?
am i reading this wrong?.
It used to be taught that Jesus hurled Satan out of heaven in 1914 which caused the world war and woe to the earth that would get worse and worse until the tribulation started. This was all supposed to happen before the 1914 generation passed away. We all know how that went but does this mean they think Satan is still in heaven and the the Tribulation he will cause on the earth is in the future and the wars etc are just a coincidence? (not that I beleive any of it anyway...fool me twice, shame on me). Isn't all this new a game changer for current JW's ? Sure would be for me but then again, if things are relatively OK for you, one tends to coast along sort of ignoring the convoluted teachings hoping you'll figure it out, in time. It's when you have a personal experience that causes a conflict that you just can't ignore, the house of cards comes tumbling down.
(1) did it cause you to leave sooner than you might have, otherwise.. (2) it didn't bother you enough to do anything about it.
hey, we are all imperfect.. (3) did you want to prove you were better than they, and nothing they could do or say, was going to stumble you.. (4) they stumbled me, probably as much i stumbled them.

It was death by a thousand cuts, rather than one single thing, but I'd say #1 comes closest to how it was for us.
i heard it was unlike anything ever heard in a local congregation.
they even got a bethelite to come sing the woman's praises..
About two years ago, a well known Brother from our area an a few other JW's were killed when the commuter plane they were traveling in while serving where the need is greater, slammed into a mountain. At the memorial they stressed how much more important the day of his death is rather than the day of his birth since what you are when you die is what counts with Jehovah. They almost made it sound like it was a good thing that he died this way. They speculated that it was very likely that at the moment of impact, these JW's were talking about spiritual matters or laughing over some funny experience they had in the door to door work. I looked over at the widow and kids and could tell they weren't buying it and like the rest of us, would rather not have been picturing the moment of impact at all. Everyone knew they must have grazed the tree tops for a few moments and were well aware that they were in big trouble. Trying to put a JW spiritual spin on the whole thing backfired. The rest was an infomercial on the benefits of being a Witness.
When my Mother Died at 57, we weren't allowed to put her picture up front with the flowers....just wouldn't do to draw too much attention to the individual.
so there is a rumor going around about 1914 and its possible demise!.
i cant help but think of the many and i say many divorces (not to make light of the matter) that jw families have had to deal with among their ranks over the years.. however, knowing how long the wtbts and 1914 have been together and the thought of mother (wtbts) doing away with her man (1914) after nearly 100 years of marriage is truly heart breaking for some.
many old-timers probably still think of the old days when they were like any other happy couple; inseparable, always holding hands, romantic and the like.
It seemed at first, that theirs was a match made in heaven but once again our fickle Mother, the WTBTS, finds herself back in the "dating" scene.

in the first few minutes of the show.......it show a road leading into the small town.
When I was in Bethel there was a place in the factory that was referred to as "Sleepy Hollow" where all the ancient Bethelite men that could still fog up a mirror, were given little jobs to do like fold things and stuff things in envelopes.
