A farce elder here

just to share a little about me:.

i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .

makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

I do not know you nor am I a judge and have no authority on this forum but I am entitled to an opinion. As a former lifelong JW who lost his nonJW father who listened to the advice of the (phony) Elder he was studying with, to refuse a blood transfusion, it sickens me to think that anyone would pretend to support that organization when he knows better. My father died a hideous death in front of his family because of the no blood lie. The (phony) Elders assured us our father would be resureected because he died faithful to Jehovah. Then when we asked if we could hold his memorial at the Kingdom Hall, they refused because he wasn't a baptized JW.

You can quote Mark Twain or any other famous person out of context all day long but don't pretend you are doing something noble here by accepting the position of an Elder when you know better and then misleading an entire congregation of people in two ways. Once simply because they are JW's and belong to a misguided and dangerous religion and you have signed on as one of it's leaders. A second time because they trust you and expect you to guide them in their chosen path however mistaken we may think it is. They think you are a true JW and that you are being honest with them about who you really are.

it's one thing to be leading people down a wrong path when you are blind yourself and truly believe it is the right one but to do this knowing full well that you don't believe it and are secretly leading another life, is a pretty messed up thing to do in my opinion. Maybe I'm getting the wrong take on this but I think you will be the one who gets burned in the end, not only because you will eventually be caught but unless you're some kind of sociopath who can turn your soul on and off like a light switch, you won't be able to respect or trust or even like yourself. I can understand those who attend meetings etc just to keep the damage to their famly and social life to a minimum but it's difficult for me to understand someone who accepts a position of leadership and knowingly and deliberately misleads these overly trusting people down a path he admittedly has left himself.This is especially so when there is the possibility that your admonitions from the platform, leadership and counsil could convince them to follow through with refusing a lifesaving blood transfusion for their child, for example or make some other important life decision based on your influence.

No Memorial invitation for us :)

this morning as my husband and i were backing out of our garage to head out to the farmers market a jw was walking up our walkway with his invitation.

he didn't see us and we didn't rocongnize him but a brother and sister we knew well actually looked our way.

we decided not to bother and went our way to enjoy a lovely morning picking out fresh fruit and vegetables knowing when we got home the invitation would be stuffed in our door.

So I decided to send a text. “I respectfully decline this invitation and any future invitations. Please do not contact me again. Thank you.” Short and sweet. Hope they get it this time… lol... just listened to it again... it was directed to just me. Not to the whole family. He didn't ask Mrs. Dazed?

You should have added "P.S. Mrs Dazed and the family are fine....not that you asked."

JW's have very little personal power and they use the little bit they are allowed, any time they can....especially when there's an opportunity to make themselves feel extra virtuous at someone else's expense.

Boy....they really showed you didn't they ?? What a burn LOL !

Anyone Here Used to Fear Persecution?

i was thinking today about how i no longer have to fear the attack of satan against the jws.

i used to fear being rounded up and beaten by mobs.

seeing my family tortured.

I had a childhood filled with sleepless nights about the tribulation and even a fear that my kind loving non JW Father would turn against us and turn us in, during the tribulation. They said from the platform that this would happen and that our own family would deliver us up to the authorities. My Sisters used to bawl during the meetings and cry for poor Dad who was at home alone during meeting nights while his four children were being turned against him.

I used to fear that someone would get ahold my 2 little sisters and torture them until I renounced my faith in Jehovah. They used to dwell on this stuff in the meetings and I was certain that it would happen to me. I felt the weight of the whole world on my shoulders . I knew that if they threatened to hurt my sisters I could never be strong enough not to give in even though they promised that once you gave in, they'd kill you and your family anyway.

For anyone who was too young to remember that time leading up to 1975, the level of cultishness and outright fanatcism that was happenig is hard to even imagine. When you look at the watered down version of what it takes to be a JW today one can't help but conclude that it's not even the same religion that we were baptized into. As far as I'm concerned, by baptisim is null and void and they rubbed the sparkle of my childhood with their crazy lies. I can't help but think that if there really is a God, they will be held responsible for the damage they've caused.

If it brings up unwanted thoughts for someone to dance or attend a "dance party" maybe they should stay away from them or maybe they should finally learn some self control. The trouble is, if you get a few of those types in a congregation or in a position of authority, they'll often impose thier problem on everyone and suddenly no one can do anything except have Bible based costume parties.

When your work mates throw you a suprise birthday party and it's the first one you've ever attended in your life let alone ever celebrated of your own.

You still get giddy with delight on meeting nights and on Sunday mornings just realizing that you don't have to go.

When you drive by the stadium where the District Assembly is being held and realize how small and insignificant that little JW world is.

All the suits you have hanging in the closet have dust on the shoulders.

You realize how judgemental and closed minded you've been taught to be about so many things and you start marveling at the good that people can accomplish and how strong, charitable and good so many people are just because they want to be.

You put lights on your house at Christmas just because they brighten up the dreary winter and you hope a JW drives by and sees them.

hi there.. have finally taken the bull by the horns and booked a trip to rome.

always wanted to go.

great architecture, food and atmosphere.. of course, i have to do the vatican.after seeing it all in angels and demons, plus the sistine chapel etc..... has anyone else been to rome??

Good for you....isn't it great to have something to look forward to ?

Haven't been to Italy yet but we're planning to go in the Fall. Bring your Green Bible, maybe we'll see you there and visit the Italian Bethel. (oh wait...they went out of business) Will you be going anywhere else such as the Amalfi Coast? If you come up with some good ideas, let us know.
