I saw this on the shelf at Blockbuster Video and rented it. Whoever did this film, had to have been a former Witness. They even had the Societies calander on the wall in one scene. I think any Witness or former Witness would recognize that this wasn't done by an outsider (so to speak).

by yalbmert99 inthere is this danish movie made in 2008 : "to verdener" (worlds apart).

Here's yours Mrsjones5....just in case you wanted to know or if it might make a difference to you. I'm not too worried about it but it might help someone who needs to be extra discrete.

Confidentiality
by sammielee24 ina refresher for newcomers and a reminder for everyone else.. posting a response to a message or starting a topic, unless it is listed under the members only menu, is open to public viewing by anyone.
this includes photographs or personal discussions and it is easy to forget that you are on a public board sometimes during heated debate where you may forget that the topic has been started in an open room and not a private one.. i would also remind people that leaving your computer open to jwn once you log on or your password available to others, in an unsupervised capacity, may provide access to this forum and all the private postings, pictures and data on it to anyone, including those who should not or do not honestly wish to engage in appropriate discussion.
just an fyi.

I started a thread along the same lines as this, yesterday.
I asked people to Google their JWN user name and add Jehovah's Witness. net after it.
What goes on the internet, stays on the internet.

Now google your user name and type Jehovah's-Witness.net after it or even JWN.NET.
To those who must keep their identity concealed, remember , what goes on the Internet....stays on the internet. From what I understand, eventually things get buried somewhat by newer information that comes along but it takes years and will always be out there. For some it may be good to find out if your older posts can be deleted from this site.

Letter from an anointed reader who DA'd after 33 years
by Dogpatch indear randy, early this year i requested disassociation from the org and have been meaning to publish some sort of statement.
i was a member for over 33 years and partook of the emblems.
being an older widow it took some deliberation and guts to make the move but am currently very happy with the change.

I would be interested in hearing what led her to begin partaking of the "emblems"...was it a real calling or looking back, does it seem like she was misguided about it ? I wonder how long she had been doubting before she quit partaking and does she feel an added sense of loss, now that she isn't going to be ruling in heaven with Jesus.

my 6 year old walked straight past her grandma and auntie (jws)
by looloo ingrandma has not seen her for 18 months and auntie 2 years !
i was in the town at the weekend just before i went to work , my little girl was walking a few feet ahead of me and i saw her auntie come out a shop followed by grandma and i thought "oh shit" "what have we got to talk about after all this time " but fortunatley they just walked past eachother oblivious , despite grandma being so close she could have patted her on the head !
i was relieved but afterwards i thought how sad it is that a grandma cant come to visit her own grandchild and didnt even notice her (they are my disfellowshipped hubbys family .

Wouldn't it have been interesting if you had thought to take a photo with your phone at the moment they were passing eachother and sent it to your mother in law with a text saying " I know you can't talk to us, but I thought you might like a photo of yourself with your grandaughter."
The Grandmother would have recognized the mall and realized that she had just passed her own grandchild by as if she were a complete stranger. She'd have to be pretty hard hearted not to feel a twinge of regret.

Goodie night
by PYRAMIDSCHEME ini was reading through another thread and this was briefly mentioned.
i remember goodie nights, i also remember how they just kind of faded out.
was that an unofficial thing or was there official direction from the fds in the form of a letter/article or local needs talk that put a stop to it?.

We used to have "goodie night" once a month. I remember having my first slice of Applesauce cake as a kid and thinking it was out of this world good. Our Book Study group started meeitng on Monday night to go over the Watchtower for the following Sunday. The Elders put a stop to it as it wasn't a WT sanctioned arrangement. I remember when the book study conductor announced this, my mom being annoyed by this and saying " apparently we can still get together on Monday night so long as we don't study the Watchtower or talk about the Bible...? For believers, how does God discipline those he loves?
by journey-on inwhen i was a jw, i thought this referred to private reproof, public reproof, or disfellowshipping.
in light of a recent conversation concerning the true meaning of justice and the balance between mercy and judgment, i would like to know what your thoughts are regarding his disciplinary "methods" and heb.

I think God's laws (if that's what they really are) are about protecting us from our own short sightedness and limited experience. The punishment may be in the outcome of breaking those laws.
