The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and go....
by HintOfLime ineach night i draw closer to completing towers of midnight.
i'm on page 918 or so right now, and somehow it makes me sad.
i started over from the beginning about 8 months ago (this is my third time through the available canon), and i'm nearly through everything published up to now.

I would never do AudioBook. You miss out when you do it that way.

Oh man, just looked it up. That's a lot of reading to go through. Maybe if I'm looking to get into a new book series I'll check this one out. For now I'm working on watching all of the movies in the top 250 of IMDB so that is keeping me pretty busy.

What are the best questions to ask an elder?
by DarkFireWolf inso my parents cannot answer my question and are pretty much pushing me to go to the elders for an answer so i'd like to know what the best questions to ask an elder are.my first question is going to be the mediator one..and if he tells me it's the 144,000 or the anointed, i'll ask him to show me where it says that in the bible.what are some other tough questions for an elder to answer?assuming we can get past the mediator one of course.i'm going to hold off on asking about new light or 607... also, has anyone ever asked about how satan can cause wwi in july if he wasn't expelled from heaven until christ became king in october?i haven't gotten much of an answer to that either..

I just looked back on your other threads and you seem to be gathering information to dispute with elders. A few questions. Are you still living at home? Are you planning on getting baptised? Are you young enough to live on your own? I'm just trying to figure out the point of your questions for the elders. You won't make the elders think. They are going to believe what they've always believed.

Whatever questions you ask you can find an article on it. If you are only interested in what they will say, then they will repeat whatever is from the articles.
If you are trying to get out of the JW's feel free to ask them all the questions you want. All you are doing is marking yourself. If that is your goal then fine, but if not you'd best leave your doubts in your mind.
When I told the elders I had doubts for a while they asked why I hadn't come to them sooner instead of researching on my own. I told them it was because I already knew what their answers were going to be and they weren't of any help.

Something weird from my mom
by doublelife inearlier today, i posted a picture on facebook of me reuniting with a couple of my childhood friends.
we all grew up together in the kh.
i, unfortunely, was the only one stupid enough to get baptised.

As a JW I would have thought it was helping to back up claims made by the WT. "See, our beliefs are even recognized as correct by people without understanding so it should be obvious to us!"
Now as an ex-JW I realize the hypocrisy of such thinking.

Yesterday Grandpa died a faithful JW.... or was he.
by cyberjesus inyesterday at 3 am my grandfather.. 95 more or less... passed away after a heart attack... i got the call at 8 am.
so i am the oldest grandson (out of 40) he was faithful, (thats what they want to say) reality is he wasnt, he cursed, he drank, he had plenty of women during his life.. he was an elder at some point and he was ultra good with everyone.
he had a heart of gold... he treated me as his son, he never cared about my status.

how do you feel when you see JWs door-to-door?
by love2Bworldly inhow do you feel when you see jws going door to door?
i live in a gated community so i always tell the guard to kick them out when i see them.
i also feel sorry for them when i see them because i remember how much i despised doing it.

If I see them, I feel sorry for them. I always wonder if they know there is something wrong but are trapped in the religion.
Since I moved to my new place we only had them stop once and that was during their assembly invitation campaign. They left it in the door. I don't even think they knocked. I see them street witnessing more than anything else. Street witnessing on near-empty streets using the pioneer shuffle. Really sad. Wasting their time serving an organization that doesn't care about them.

Doctrines that must change-- which ones?
by WildeLover inconsidering the recent major doctrinal changes in relation to the generation and to the faithful and discreet slave which other doctrines do you think they will have to change?.
generation changea time and too many of the anointed dying.
f&dsa anointed growing in number so necessary to blow that out of the water by completely centralising power in the gb.
-
MrFreeze
The doctrine where the GB and the WT is the mouthpiece for God today and that we must be 100% obedient to the organization. If you take that one away, all the others fall.
