JW's will just say "their dating methods are obviously flawed." I've realized how pointless using secular sources is with a JW. Their hiearchy of truth goes: Publications > Bible > Secular history

Sex and drugs in university

so this jw friend that got in touch out of the blue a few months ago after 24 years of shunning us agrees that the borg is not keen on university.

it is so difficult to keep to your principles because of all the immorality there according to her.

yes same old story we have been hearing for years.. if that is the case they should be fine with distance learning.

Band on the Run, living in Pittsburgh we hear stories about how bad the dorms are that the Duquesne students live in. Seems like they are always in the news for something.

2014 DC

they read a letter about the 2014 district conventions and how some would be international.. my thought was that this is a gimmick to get people excited.

the organization has jumped the shark so they need.

to use gimmicks to bring excitement.. the congregations were to pass a resolution to for $.15 per publisher for 17 months to go to a fund to bring the missionaries home,.

I don't think it is aimed specifically at getting people excited. They have to announce it far enough in advance so JW's can actually go. I went to an international convention in Berlin.

I actually enjoyed the international convention, if only because I got a chance to meet a lot of interesting people from all over the world.

for the record, i am not a native english speaker, infact i recently just started studying english about 18months ago.

so apologies for any error you may encounter in the process of making sense of my logic.. i am from a small village in a destitute and war ravaged african country, 80 percent of people in my town live on less than 50cent in a day and myself included, no roads, no hospital, no public institution, no social welfare support, no national security institutiion, nothing, just tribal factions exchanging agricultural produce and i have always wondered why jehovah would have to put the preaching work ahead of a poverty eradication program at this desperate time of our existence.. .

it was an emotional adventure on finding answers to that question that led me here.

I had the option of 3-D or regular. I went with regular. I try to avoid 3-D. It was okay. I preferred the LOTR movies. Half of the movie seemed to essentially be backstory. The Hobbit just seemed to be simply a setup for the next two movies.

go and read it again at acts 5: 11. ananias and sapphira drop dead at peter's feet for "playing false to god/holy spirit" by not giving all of the money to peter that they got from a field they sold.

ananias and sapphira were christians.

they wanted to help the poor and so sold one of their possessions, a field, and gave most of the money to peter.

I'm sorry about assuming you were an ex-JW tec but I see a lot of the same mental gymnastics that JWs employ.

The implication of the account is that God struck them down. It doesn't directly say it but I'm not sure how you can come to any other conclusion. Two people just dropping dead when they are found out for telling a lie. Either Peter killed them or God killed them but I highly doubt they would both drop dead from a heart attack at the same exact time.

This is what is implied by the Bible. And after all, isn't the Bible infallible?
