I will say he disliked movies that I loved, but I always felt his reviews were justified. Even if I liked movies he didn't, he gave good reasons why. He gave a bad review to Gladiator and I loved Gladiator. When I read his review, I could understand his dislike, although I didn't share the same opinion.

"I'll see you at the movies." RIP Roger Ebert
by MrFreeze inyears ago, i didn't care for roger ebert.
i thought he was kind of a snooty film critic.. after watching films as sort of a hobby, i came to really appreciate his opinions on film.
mainly, what was the film trying to do.

Years ago, I didn't care for Roger Ebert. I thought he was kind of a snooty film critic.
After watching films as sort of a hobby, I came to really appreciate his opinions on film. I finally understood the way he went in-depth into film. Unlike most film critics, he really KNEW films. The thing I came to love about him is he never judged a film beforehand. He judged films based on their merit. Mainly, what was the film trying to do. Heck, he even gave the last Twilight film a favorable review based on the series itself.
Ebert was always full of wit and wisdom. Here's a few of my favorite quotes of his:
"No good movie is too long and no bad movie is short enough."
"I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state ... I am grateful for the gifts of intelligence, love, wonder and laughter. You can't say it wasn't interesting."
"Your intellect may be confused, but your emotions will never lie to you."
"We are born into a box of time and space. We use words and communication to break out of it and to reach out to others."
"And I think both the left and the right should celebrate people who have different opinions, and disagree with them, and argue with them, and differ with them, but don't just try to shut them up."
"Every great film should seem new every time you see it"
"The problem with being sure that God is on your side is that you can't change your mind, because God sure isn't going to change His."
"I know it is coming, and I do not fear it, because I believe there is nothing on the other side of death to fear."

There is a Mole in Brooklyn
by Oubliette inreading cedar's excellent article about the july 15, 2013 new-light" study edition of the watchtower got me thinking:.
the control freaks in brooklyn known as the governing body (aka fds) must be having conniption fits knowing that there is a mole in bethel leaking information to apostates!
"three weeks ahead of its expected release date in mid-april, a scanned copy of the july 15 2013 "study edition" of the watchtower was leaked to the office of jwsurvey by a conscientious active witness within the organization.".

Unemployment is down, but why did America set a record 47.8 million on food stamps?
by moshe inin the usa a new record was set on food stamp enrollments, which seems ironic.
you would think as unemployment drops , food stamp usage would be dropping, too.
maybe those government unemployment numbers are fake numbers.

Because some people work but don't make enough money. Also, after you haven't had a job for a certain amount of time, you are no longer considered unemployed.

Didn't think about that before free2beme but it makes sense the season finale will be on Easter sunday. They probably planned it that way.

Only "TIME" matters
by Roberta804 init was last year at easter time that i had a big insight that still looms large with me.
my elderly mother was living with me and she had been suffering from dementia.
i was taken aback why this one elder would come over once a month to try to get my mom to come up with 15 minutes of fs.

Do you remember when Jesus asked his disciples how many hours they spent preaching that month?

I went once. I never understood the reason that if preaching is so important, and the pioneer school is so helpful in preaching, why the pioneer school isn't open to all JW's to attend.
