It's because angels got all of their education from Awake magazines.

Why didn't the angels already know that Jehovah should rule everything and not Satan
by sosoconfused inwhen i would go out in service and discuss the issue of "universal sovreignty" i always wondered why in the back of my mind why the angels needed to have proven to them that jehovah was worthy of worship alone and not satan.
no doubt they would have known he was aall powerful.
he created everything... and most importantly he was god.

Oh and by the way Sam Whiskey, saying that the United States is a Christian country is like saying that the United States is a white country, just because there are more caucasians in the United States than any other minority.

"StAnn: Ah, yes, practicing freedom of speech and freedom of religion, while we still have them, which won't be long. Good job, young man."
"Yes, the long war on Christianity. I pray that one day we may live in an America where Christians can worship freely! In broad daylight! Openly wearing the symbols of their religion... perhaps around their necks? And maybe -- dare I dream it? -- maybe one day there can be an openly Christian President. Or, perhaps, 44 of them. Consecutively." - Jon Stewart

"Do not be called teachers"--Doesn't Jesus OUTLAW all organized religion?
by humbled injw's and other churches all set up housekeeping in different theological areas.
some one person can't believe any more what their church is saying, gets a different "take" on god, and......starts trying to convince others to follow them and everything they teach.. nothing new about that.
but why are so many of us blind to this scenario: we allow that some people get to contemplate other thoughts and others are not allowed.only some lead and everyone else must follow or be thrown out.

Have to agree with still thinking. Logic and reason will eliminate every god. What makes the Judeo-Christian god hold up to the scrutiny that Zeus or Vishnu doesn't? Plain and simple it is belief bias.

If you're a really good speaker, did you ever notice others who were jealous?
by toto555 inso did you as a witness ever notice this?
perhaps if you were being looked at for an elder appointment.
did other elders view you as potential competition?
-
MrFreeze
I was a good speaker. I didn't notice any jealousy. I think the bad speakers weren't jealous because they really didn't want to be giving talks in the first place. Some of my talks were pretty lousy, I will admit, if only because the source material was so horrible.

Invitations to the DC
by sooner7nc inplease correct me if i'm wrong on this.. one of the guys who works with me called me at work today (his day off) and said that a jw had just come to his door.
the guy was by himself and said that he was new to the area and offered a tract of some sort and an invitation to the dc coming up in a couple of weeks in fort worth.
i don't remember ever giving out invites to the dc.
-
MrFreeze
Yeah they started doing that. We were giving out invites to a convention that was three hours away. I'm sure nobody who received an invite showed up.

A knock-down argument against the WBTS interpretation of Matt 24:45-47!
by yadda yadda 2 inthe wbts teaches that in 1919 jesus inspected all of christendom and appointed the wbts "over all his belongings" in fulfillment of matthew 24:45-47: "who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.".

2014 means nothing
by konceptual99 ini know there have been many comments over the recent past about 2014 being potentially a key point in time for the wts as it's 100 years since 1914 but my view is that it means absolutely nothing.. people are people and history shows the psychological hold that organisations like the wts has just carries on captivating people.
the org survived the 1975 debacle and they will potter on for years to come regardless of things like 100 years since 1914, especially since this is something the wts are simply not talking about.
it means nothing to anyone other than people looking for something to bash the wts with.. it's not mentioned in the literature and is unlikely to be anytime soon - why the heck would the wts want to remind people of the length of time?.

I've been saying it since people have been talking about 2014 being a big deal. JW's will not care. If they would care about something like that, they would have cared about all of the past crap the WT has spouted off. The WT will acknowledge it and say how close we must be. They will mention it being 100 years at assemblies and talk about how close to the end we are. Business as usual.
