They will say "it doesn't matter because if you die in this system faithful to Jehovah's organization, then you will be resurrected."

by notsurewheretogo ini was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

Millions now living will never die

" well it's been 95 years since.

Thanks for that NeverKnew!
Just remember, we are supposed to look at the origin of things like holidays to know not to be involved with them but the less we know about the origin of our religion, the better.

Read it and Weep
by cha ching inrecently, we were challenged when we told someone that the wt itself says that it is not inspired, and we then were asked is that something you recently started to believe?.
how many people just forget what the wt has said?
well, read it and weep.. .

The WT is no inspired prophet... but we should treat the WT like it is.

Paul's rationale...
by NeverKnew inas a non-jw discussing "the only true" christianity with jws, i brought up romans 14 for obvious reasons.
after reviewing the chapter as a whole and asking appropriate questions, i went back up to verse 11 and sincerely asked, .
"by the way, how are comparative verses like romans 14:11, isaiah 45:23 and phillippians 2:9-11 interpreted in your faith with the same language being attributed to the father in the ot and jesus in the nt?

A discussion with JW's about the Trinity is pointless. When I was a JW me and another person were invited in to a house to talk to a guy about the Trinity. He showed us scripture after scripture pointing to it. We showed them scripture after scripture refuting it. Eventually the wife told her husband to give up.

That's a great video. Really makes you think. My favorite bit is from 9 minutes on... talking about how fundamentalists have taken over Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

I will say that the WBC is right about one thing... the god they worship (along with billions of other Christians) is not love.

Going back reading some of these comments. The Bible conflicts itself several times with the "sins of the father" deal. In some scriptures it says to put to death the children... in others it says not to...
myelaine - If your reasoning is correct, then today we should put to death the children of people who are on death row. You can't really be serious with that argument can you? Of course, abusive parents often-times lead to children with issues. But there are plenty of examples of people with bad parents who turned out good. I mean, look at all of the people here who grew up as JW's. That is no healthy environment for a child.
Tammy - I just don't get why you keep the Bible around as a reference at all. You don't believe it makes sense that a god would order genecide and infanticide but you find it totally believable that god sent himself down to earth so he could sacrifice himself to save us from himself.

Preaching work
by Kool Jo inhello folks:.
i was just thinking...what do you think the borg would look like if they said it's no longer necessary to do the preaching work...it's voluntary?
1. some would go tru the motions just to appear 'spiritually strong'.

The number of pioneers would probably drop dramatically. Then again, you can never forget the factor of people wanting to put on a good show and come off as better than others.
