by Londo111 ini am infp.. some former witnesses in my hometown had a meetup last night...alas, only four of us.
but it turned out we had an infp(me), two infjs, and an enfp.
therefore, it turned out we were all idealists.

You atheist really annoyed me
by confusedandalone inwhen i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.

I used to be irritated by atheists... I think that was mainly because they made me look like an idiot in debates.

How exactly did Paul keep in touch with his network of churches across the empire...
by mP inthe bible presents him as humble with limit means.
i always wondered how a man with a travelling companion of two like timothy managed to knnow or hear about all his churches.
how exactly does the troubles of corinth manage to find paul when hes over in judea or maybe somewhere in what we call turkey ?

Most JW's won't pick up on this. I have the feeling it was some awakened writer having a bit of fun.

So I Went back to my old Kingdom Hall Today...
by cofty in...because it's now an art gallery.. it was really strange to have a look around the building and see what they have done with it.
a lot of the old kh features are still there.
they have kept the old platform, it gets used as a music venue on occasions.. i went up on the platform and faced the hall to bring back memories of the hundreds of times i stood there giving talks.. they have quite a few of the old chairs and the magazine/literature counter is still there but it has been moved beside the stage and painted.. all those huge windows have been restored and the place is full of light.. you can see a lot of pictures at their website, they have called it "the berwick watchtower".. the owner asked my wife and i if it was our first visit - hahaha.

Julia, the form of torture in there was probably worse than what happened in those old prisons.

That's hilarious that Tony Blair thinks atheists are some sort of a threat.

Did you feel pushed into pioneering?
by Xanthippe inso i have been replying to letters from a jw friend who suddenly started writing to me after i've been out for nearly 25 years.. i have mentioned things like the poverty that pioneering causes from my own experience, worrying about having enough money to buy food.. i also said that the scrimping would have been worth it if we had been saving to buy a home or go on lovely holidays.. instead we ended up with nothing materially and we were living in a tiny rented flat when we left.. when i think of all the places i wanted to visit with my husband but couldn't because we were pioneering and had no money and now it is too late because my husband has died at the age of 54. we did get to visit some beautiful places but we ran out of time.. what i was trying to say to her was - life's too short.
stop waiting for the new system, get on with your life.
stop exhausting yourself in that religion.

Definitely pressured into it and also pressured into not stopping... which is why I left cold turkey.

What's Da Word On Weed, Mon?
by metatron ini come to this site as my one-stop-shopping guide to scandals and controversy within watchtowerland ( much of which is about as real as world of warcraft).
i'm surprized i haven't read anything about marijuana and 'the truth".. weed is getting legalized all over the place and california, in particular, is loaded with whacked-out witnesses.
since it can be prescribed as a medical treatment (here and there), i imagine the wts might have to do some doctrinal gymnastics to df folks for using it.

Alcohol is also "mind-altering" as is caffeine. At least the Mormons are consistent in this.
I think you can guarantee marijuana is in the "tobacco and other drugs" category
