I have to disagree with you Rick. The Egyptian government doesn't have a persecution complex. By protesting the JW's so publicly, you are bolstering their persecution complex. It's feeding right into what they believe. And this is not going to affect non-Witnesses who see it because, lets face it, unless they are personally affected, they don't care.

Video and pictures just coming in from the world wide protest!
by koolaid-man init was thrilling to participate in the world wide protest, jan, 21-23 2011 exposing the watchtower organization for their policies on deliberately breaking up up families.
we thank all those involved this past weekend for their passion and commitment to help free those trapped in falsehood.
i am aware that many on this forum do not believe in protesting against the watchtower society, and i respect their position.

Do JWs Participate in Wars By Funding Them?
by cameo-d ini think there are a lot of ways to get your hands bloody without actually joining the military or shooting a gun indiscriminately at foreigners in their own country.. can you think of ways that jws are participating in sponsoring wars without "going to war"?.

It doesn't matter if it was 50%, 10%, 1%, 0.00005%. They owned shares in it. They profited from it. They are culpable.

I'd rather be a failure as a JW than a failure as a human being, which it seems most successful JW's tend to be.

Truth doesn't change. I'm fine with them admitting mistakes but when you've made so many mistakes in the past, don't be upset when I don't accept everything you say. The problem is they don't put the blame on themselves. They blame their followers. Their followers have wrong expectations they say. Well they were listening to what you said without question! Of course they would have wrong expectations if you were putting those expectations into their mind.

Advice for a non-witness dealing with a fiance's witness family
by JAG913 inmy name is jaime and i'm here because my fiance recommended this site.
i am not, nor will i ever be, a jehovah's witness.
i strongly believe it is a cult, but i also am respectful of the choice people make to associate themselves within the witness "world.

If your fiance doesn't mind limited contact, you shouldn't either. Try to stay away. They will only make things miserable for both of you.
I'm assuming your fiance posted something on this forum just a few moments ago. Stories seem to match up.

after 40 years I guess I am being shunned
by Giordano inwell thanks to this site i have come to realize i am being shunned........i think.
i find this really funny because my wife and i were never df or da, and we walked out in the late 1960's.
and no one in the family ever shunned us.. without making too much out of it my niece has not invited us to visit and meet our new nephew.

My Story
by Crank!!! inmy story starts off the same way a lot of yours did, i was born into the jw cult in 1986. my mother got kicked out of her house for studying with her older sister when she was 15. my dad was also born into the jw world.
my mom and dad got divorced when i was 5 (my mother had scriptual grounds) so she raised my younger sister, brother and i mostly by herself.
because of her beliefs she adamantly did not want us having any worldly influences, so she chose to home school all of us.

Great story bro! Glad things are looking up for you. It's always nice to have special people in your life who accept you for who you are.
I don't know how long you've lurked, but welcome to the board!

I understand how difficult it can be to leave the JW religion. Some even feel that they need therapy to deal with it. How many here have seen a therapist as a result of the JW's? If you have, or are currently seeing a therapist, has it helped?
