I wanna say it was about 6 or 7 years ago. Since I legit prayed. It was an earnest prayer as at the time I was losing my faith. I prayed for god to help restore my faith. Either he isn't there or he gets terrible reception.

I know when I was a JW I thought atheists were evil. Just saying the word brings up thoughts of evil people with no moral compass. Of course, now that I don't have the propoganda going, I know the very idea that atheists are evil is BS. I don't tell people I know I'm an atheist unless they ask. When people I know say things like "I'll pray for you" or tell me about their church activities or their belief in god, I don't try to contradict them or battle them. They can believe whatever they want to believe and I'm not going to look at them any differently for it.

As far as I know from what the WT says, you make your dedication when you answer the questions out of the OD book and then answer the questions at the end of the baptism talk. The water part is only symbolizing it. They will probably still view you as DF.

Quick Poll - How many are...
by mrhhome inhow many here are (a) ex-jw, (b) non-jw with jw relatives or spouses, (c) inactive jw, or (d) active jw who stay in for your own reasons?.

Been inactive for about 3 years now. One meeting I was a MS pioneer and never went back except for a CA when my sister got baptised, my stepdads first public talk, and I went with NeverKnew to her first meeting. I'm really an ex-JW though.

For people who say that, tell them not to kiss people of opposite gender in public, or go on dates with people of the opposite gender, or talk about how hot certain people are of the opposite gender, not to talk about who they are dating of the opposite gender.

The "accept it or screw you" attitude that is prevelant and somehow I'm a horrible person just because I don't believe their crap.

Has anyone else observed how the elderly JWs are neglected?
by Joepublisher1 ini know there are exceptions to this (by good-hearted jws), but has anyone else noticed how some jws (even those who are pios, elders, etc.
) neglect the needs of their elderly parents?
(what i have seen is some jws hiding behind the fact that they are very busy in spiritual matters, too busy, to help their elderly parents with chores around their house, yet they find plenty of time for their own selfish pursuits.

As a ministerial servant I was shocked at how the brothers as a whole seemed to ignore these ones. There were a couple that would visit certain ones but as a congregation, these ones were ignored.

What gives you away as a (former) JW?
by perfect1 inthese days my jw past stay safely under wraps from nearly everyone.. i dont dig it up- and i see no need to talk about it with anyone.. sometimes i feel as if my past is a large and terrible secret, and i will be found out eventually.
people can sense i am different.
i never talk about my family.. i guess people chalk it up to being a private person or let me be a mystery.. however, there is one thing that i feel completely reveals me as having been raised a jehovahs witness:.

MrFreeze
People I tell are just like "really?" It's no different then telling them you used to be a Mormon. Some think its kind of neat. I will say I've guaranteed there are a few people who will never even talk to JW's now.

Ambient Abuse - This is one area that the Jehovah's Witness Are So Very Damaging To The Psyche.
by Narcissistic Supply injehovah's witness work so very hard to deny your reality.
thus you have nothing to base anything on.
no truth to base what is, in fact, truth.

Truth has a different meaning in the WT world.
