We'll donate it if we can't sell it. But he has invested thousands and thousands of dollars over the years, and we sure would like to get at least a bit of it back.

My husband, AlanF, started collecting JW literature about 20 years ago when he began his indepth research into the religion. His collection includes just about everything the Society has ever published, from books and magazines down to booklets, pamphlets, and handbills. Some pieces are quite rare. For a number of years now, he's lost interest in all things JW. We've decided it's time to get rid of the JW collection. I have no idea, however, whether anyone is actually interested in this stuff. For someone doing research, it's invaluable because most of this information isn't on, for instance, the WTS CD.
Anyway, I thought I'd let the folks here know that it's available. If you're interested, PM me and I can send you a list of most of the items he has. (I don't think he has a complete inventory, but it's fairly good.)

Thanks for your comments, folks.
My husband (AlanF) has been collecting JW literature for a long time. He has an almost complete collection of everything ever published (it's insane). These pieces he wanted to get rid of are a lot of duplicates. They're stuff he bought cheap over the years or people gave to him. There used to be a market for this stuff, but there isn't right now. He's talked to a lot of people he knows to see if anyone is interested in them, and there just isn't much interest. Besides, we're moving in three weeks, and there's no time to sell them piecemeal on eBay, even if someone *did* want to buy them.
But today he had an idea. One of our neighbors is a retired evangelical pastor. His church is a pretty big one here in Fort Collins. His son-in-law is the pastor now. Anyway, Alan wondered whether members of his church might be interested in having some nice JW literature to help them argue with the dubs, so he went over and had a talk with him. And guess what? He's taking everything that hasn't already been spoken for! We're going to stack everything in his garage, then members of his congregation will come over and select what they want. Then he'll deal with what's left over.
I thought that was a pretty brilliant idea. :-) Too bad Alan doesn't count time anymore. Can you imagine all the placements he'd have this month? LOL

NeonMadman, he has quite a few, and I'm sure no one is going to want all of them! So send me your email address via a PM, and I'll have him write you. Thanks!

I'm having a terrible time trying to reply to the PMs I've received. I don't know if it's my browser or what, but the text in the header is white, and I can't see any reply button. If you sent me your email address, I'll have the hubby send you an email. If you sent me a PM but didn't include your email address, will you write me again and include it? Sorry!

Whatever is left in a month or so is going in the dump. Or maybe to recycling if we can find someone to take them.Julie

How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?
by isnrblog inwhat a common tale.
you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.
otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

Married at 17, a month after graduating from high school; he was 19. I thought if I didn't marry him, I'd never get another chance (there were at least a dozen girls for every boy in our circuit), and I didn't want to have to pioneer. No option to go to college or get a job and move out of my parents' home. It was a terrible mistake. He was a domineering brute. I stayed with him for 13 years, until I had the courage to leave him and the dubs at the same time. I moved to another town and started college and a new life. Never looked back.

God is not Great
by hamsterbait inanybody seen this book,.
i was at a friends tonite, and read a bit on jihadist cretins in saudi arabia, who have banned george orwells "animal farm" because the farm ends up run by pigs.. godly honest - hearted moslems are also seeking to ban piglet, and charlottes web from schools.. apparently the eyes of innocent moslem babies cannot be defiled by reading about unclean animaux taking over the world, but.
they can go to market to shop with mommy and see starving thieves having their hand sawn off (but humanely given a novocaine shot in the arm so they can watch but not feel it).

Alan just finished it and loved it. He gave it to me last night, so I'll start it next.

What do you know about Unitarian Universalists?
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini'm just wondering if anyone has looked into this faith or church or religion or whatever you might call it?
it seems like a positive community, but i have also read things about it that seem borderline scary to vulnerable people who are looking to fit in somewhere... .
i'm not looking for a religion to convert to or anything like that.

Oh, I wanted to add this: My children were already grown when I found the UUs, but I really liked their childhood education program. I wished at the time that I'd found it earlier, while the boys were still little. And our local UU church has a lot of adult education classes that are really good--much better than what is taught through the local parks and recreation department. I think we benefit from having a lot of educated people in this town and in the local church, so the classes are quite interesting.
