as many of you know, alan feuerbacher spent 40 years researching watchtower.

during that time, he bought every item of watchtower literature he could find.

his collection is so big that it’s impossible for me to try to catalog it, although i might be able to get some volunteers to help me with that.

Getting rid of HUGE JW library

my husband, alanf, started collecting jw literature about 20 years ago when he began his indepth research into the religion.

his collection includes just about everything the society has ever published, from books and magazines down to booklets, pamphlets, and handbills.

some pieces are quite rare.

Denver Post picks up NY Times article

today's sunday denver post includes a shortened version of the ny times article.

it's in the first section of the paper.. congrats, bill.

i read the article online early, early this morning, and then went to the newsstand to pick up a copy of the paper this morning.

Excellent POV film on PBS last night

i watched a very interesting and touching program on pbs last night (tuesday).

it portrayed a mormon family, the smiths, as they dealt with some very devastating circumstances.

the husband was a closeted gay for many years who ended up getting aids and bringing it home to his wife.

i want to thank you for your recent posts about your experiences coming out of the religion.

i've always thought that personal experiences are more powerful and convincing than arguing doctrinal points.

although there's a place for such arguments and discussions, seeing what other people have been through and how they've dealt with their loss of faith and extracting themselves from the religion are most compelling and helpful for people who are going through the same experience.. my parents are in a difficult position; they no longer believe in the religion, but they feel that if they were to just quit, their two children who are still jws will shun them.

washington, dc--calling the theological giant's stranglehold on the religion industry "blatantly anti-competitive," a u.s. district judge ruled monday that god is in violation of anti-monopoly laws and ordered him to be broken up into several less powerful deities.. "the evidence introduced in this trial has convinced me that the deity known as god has willfully and actively thwarted competition from other deities and demigods, promoting his worship with such unfair scare tactics as threatening non-believers with eternal damnation," wrote district judge charles elliot schofield in his decision.

Interesting news about Nicholai Soltys

for those of you who live outside the us, you might not have heard about this news story.

this soltys guy, a ukranian immigrant, killed six family members a couple of weeks ago and was just arrested about an hour ago.

i'm listening to the news right now and there's an interesting tie-in to religion.
