For a moment I thought the article would read something like this:
"Following a damming documentary by Canadian Fifth Estate investigative journalists, the Watchtower's G.B. took their own lives. The dead , discovered by two sheriff deputies after an anonymous tip, were found in an antiseptic multi-million dollar mansion in an exclusive community north of New York. They were all lying on their backs on cots and bunkbeds throughout the man sion covered with triangular purple shrouds with their hands to their sides in a prone position. the very large majority of the jws that i come into contact with on a regular basis are not wealthy and many have very low incomes, yet they still make substantial contributions to the wbts every month.
because they are firmly lead to believe that it is an organisation that is struggling for its financial survival.. following a recent visit from the c.o.

So, where DID the 1914 timeline go awry?
by Xander inokay, i know that historical evidence is that jerusalem fell in 586/7 instead of 607 - as the wtbts would have.
however, that is not compelling enough to show a hypothetical jw.
they (generally) must not only be show that the opposition is correct, but that the wtbts is wrong.

Impresive research from some of you. The Watchtower apologists frame their arguments in such a manner (intentionally or not) that it appears that someone could arrive at the same belief as official Watchtower doctrine through independent study. But is that possible? Is it possible to come to what the Watchtower calls "the truth" independently of the publications produced by the Watchtower? To ask it another way, from the Watchtower's official position, can the study of New Testament Greek grammar and syntax bring someone's beliefs in line with existing Watchtower doctrine? After examining several Watchtower publications, it would appear that it would be impossible for a person studying the Greek New Testament apart from Watchtower helps to come up with a faith that matches the Watchtower's "truth". The teaching depends on the interpretations.
