my sister has been a jw since 1974. she's been waiting for the end of this "system of things" since the fall of 1975. she never went to college.
she has had probably 80 or more jobs since 1974. she has no retirement savings.
Just as some of you had suspected, my mom had given my sister her credit card for groceries and my sister had been using it to pay her own bills as well.
Unbelievable! She must also have her Social Security Nbr. You may be on time to do damage control or prevent it: Check that she did not request any kind of loan or credit cards using your Mom's numbers. Take firm steps to prevent her having access to your Mom's assets in the future.
I'm glad you are figuring things to take care of your Mom.

a little bird told me that some members of the governing body are unhappy with the shunning policy and want it changed (presumably due to the bad press from sites like these).
apparently they were overruled.
is this yet another policy that will start to be diluted and eventually dropped altogether or what and can anyone back up the rumour?
I'd thought it would be all the way around: The WT lawers pushing for changing towards more civilized and sociable behaviors while the GB unwilling to change.

i am highly considering becoming a jehovah's witness.
i have been raised in the congregration, but left it when i was a child because my mom left too, but we still retatined the core belifs including the ressurection and the blasphemous pagan influence on mainstream churches.
my mom has recently returned to the congregation, and it has helped her a lot.

Are those who repeat implanted phrases without using independent thinking, in their "right mind" too? You think your 'direct channel of communication with God' still speak the truth after almost one century of doctrine flip-flops? Never mind end of the world dates. Realize that truth has no expiration date and that fear is a very powerful mind control tool.
i had a dresser for sale on craigslist and as so often occurs some guy wants to buy it and have his shipper pick it up- i emailed him and told him that craigslist says he had the m-o of a crook.. he emails me back and say he is still interested and will pay the fullprice, so i changed the emailed header from re: dresser $55 to re: dresser $955 and emailed back was he ok with the price and how did he want to pay for it.
his english has the syntax of someone who uses it as a 2nd language- he never saw or the mentioned the price change i did!.
so, true to form he was going to send me a cashiers check - for $3000 and i was to keep out my money and then send a western union mailgram for the difference to the shipper in a city 300 miles away- .

were you discriminated against for any reason in the "christian congregation"?
My wife's father was criticized for having his own house and one car and was acused of being 'materialistic' but no JW felt shame for coming at him for free medical care.
My wife was almost shunned when she entered medical school and the elders expulsed her at the first chance they had.
