Music from Yanni. A couple of CDs/DVDs of his concerts, from recent years. . One CD/DVD combo is his concert in El Morro, Puerto Rico. Another is his concert in Egypt, right near the Pyramids. Very enjoyable music from that man.

Kids in my kingdom hall
by Akid48 ini think my last post i said i went to a new congregation,i'm going to just talk about some of the shit i have seen in my congregation.. there was a kid trying to talk to a adult next to him i think it was his dad,the kid just started taping him because he wanted to tell him something and the dad gets mad then boom the kid gets elbowed.i look around to see if anyone saw him do that to his kid and nope or they didn't want to say anything about it and just like wtf.. in my old congregation, the younger kids would do random stuff in the middle of the meeting to not get board.
when the mom or dad got mad i would see then get dragged to the back of the kingdom hall and hear them start crying.when i was still mentally in i just didnt think about it at all when it would happen but when i woke up im just like thats fucked up..

Greetings, Everyone: This thread reminds me of a similar thread on this forum, several years ago, about a book written by one William (Billy) Coburn. It is entitled "The Spanking Room." I bought it through Amazon.com, and it is an interesting read. It is about Mr. Coburn's experiences of being raised by a JW mother. (His father never got into the JW belief system) But, yeah, in this book, he details the "spanking room" that seemed to exist in EVERY Kingdom Hall, put there for the main purpose of spanking, and disciplining wayward children at the meetings. The slightest "infractions" of rules were to be dealt with by removing the "errant" child to the "spanking room."
I must say, though, that I had a JW mother---and she passed away over 38 yeas ago, as an adherent to the JW religion---who was a "champion" for children's rights, and did not tolerate what she saw as child abuse from "fanatic" parents. Many times she would "take to task" persons who she saw perpetrating unjust corporal punishment to little ones. I gotta hand it to her for that! Well, Best Regards, Everyone.

A ridiculous thing I found in the old young people’s book
by Addison0998 init was in some book for young people that i found going through the watchtower library when i was doing research for old publications, i cannot believe this lunacy, i feel so bad for the teenagers at the time who had to try to take this seriously, but they’re not a high control religion or cult though, anyways here is is : .
if you sleep in a room alone and you find that you seem to feel special stress in this direction at night, you may be able to arrange matters to share a room with another member of your family.
also, you may find it helpful to sleep on your side rather than on your back or face down.. 18 another thing that may be helpful is to see to it that your clothing does not unnecessarily cause friction with the sexual organs.

Yep, it was advisable to have a member of your family sleep in your room, to "monitor" your nocturnal activities. Couldn't have you engaging in any "gross, evil, disgusting, despicable" activity of self-sexual stimulation, self-sexual pleasure, self-sexual arousal... No, no, no. Can't have that happening. To the WTS, it was "self-abuse.". Nope. can't have THAT happening.
Best Regards, all...

I was struck by a VW Beetle once, back in 1967, when I was 13 years old, and in the 8th Grade. Myself and friend from school were out walking my dog one evening, about a half mile from home, and when I entered the crosswalk, the next thing that I remember was being hit by the VW, driven by a young person of high-school age, who was returning home from his job at a nearby Market Basket store. The guy stopped right away, got out and checked to see if I was OK, injured, etc. He wasn't going fast at all, when he had pulled out from the intersection, maybe about 5 miles per hour. But, me, and my friend, being only 13 at the time, said that we should just return to MY home about 1/2 mile away, and let my parents know what happened. That we did. My parents took me to a nearby hospital. Little did we think about the fact that the local Police Department had to be contacted about the incident. What was interesting though, is, as I stated, we had been out walking my dog, was in a leash. Somehow, the dog got out of her collar and leash, and found herself all the way back home, without any help from any human intervention! But, to this day, I wonder about what every happened to the VW driver.

1974 Special Meetings
by NeonMadman inas we all know, armageddon was just around the corner in 1974. at the district conventions that year, it was announced that there would be two special meetings during the month of september; one would be for interested people (e.g., bible studies, family members, inactive, etc.
), and the other would be for baptized publishers.
these were to be held in place of the service meetings for the two weeks, iirc.

Ah, so true, Sparky1. Holding out that "fear and guilt" card in front of kids, youngsters. There was supposed to be some "deity" some "cloud being" out there, watching you, observing you, and keeping some "score-card", some "ledger book" of everything that you did, said, or thought, and was going to punish you for anything that you did, said or thought that was not in accordance with that said "deity."
Personally, I don't remember either of those two meetings. At that time, I was concerned with a major health issue that had unexpectedly come into my life, at the time, even though I was 20 years old. I was bewildered and angry at the time. But, oh well. Best Regards.

Are You Doomed?
by NeonMadman inback in 1969, we were studying the book babylon the great has fallen - god's kingdom rules!
in the book study.
at one point, it commented regarding the "hailstones" that would fall, as described in the book of revelation, that these "hailstones" referred to the hard messages of judgment that we jws would be proclaiming to people after the great tribulation had begun, when there was no further hope of salvation for those who were not already jws.

NeonMadman: That is a very interesting document that you created, way back then. But, I was wondering: How old were you, back in 1969, when you created the document? Myself, I was 15, and I do remember studying the "Babylon The Great" book. Of course, when it was announced that the Society wanted Book Study groups to study that publication, I, at that age, thought that there was something significant that was going to happen VERY SOON, if that book was going to be studied. Best Regards.

What Are Your "Senior Moments" Like?
by compound complex indear friends:.
i imagine by now we old timers have adjusted to the fact that we are getting older and, one day, will make our exit.
are your "senior moments" ever a cause for worry to you?
-
titch
Of course, Compound Complex, you do realize, that the replies from various people so far, if you were to relate them to JWs, it would be further "ammunition", in their mind, for stating that it is the reason why a "New System" is so very much needed. In the "New System" people won't be having ANY "Senior Moments". The human mind will be "brought back to perfection." No aging, no "Seniors" Ah, yes, what to do, what to do? But, yes, I do relate to the predicament of "senior moments." Best Regards, all! ,

Regarding That "Tag-Line" of The X-Files
by titch ini don't know if any thread has already been posted regarding this or not.
(if it has, then just disregard this posting!

I don't know if any thread has already been posted regarding this or not. Perhaps it has, maybe it hasn't. (If it has, then just disregard this posting!) But, I thought about something with regards to the new, 6-episode stint of the famous show on Fox, The X-Files. Its well-known "tag-line" was, and shall ever remain, "The Truth Is Out There". So, how about, for us, "TTATT Is STILL Out There." As I stated, if a post about this has already been started, then just obliterate this from your collective memory. Thanks for reading. Best Regards, all!

A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?
by Finkelstein into myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.
gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.
over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

To me, the word "god" is just that. A word. It is a word, in the English language, that takes the place of, or represents, basically, a concept, an idea, in one's own mind. "God" is whatever YOU think that he, or she, or it, is. Nothing more, nothing less.
Here's an experiment to try. I remember, back in my 4th Grade year, our teacher told the class about something that she, and some of her college room-mates did one time. She took a piece of blank paper, or maybe two or three. And, she put down the word "white" on those papers, 500 times. She said that after about the 200th time of writing down the word "white" that the word---white---failed to have any meaning, in her mind. So, try that---get some papers, and write down the word "god" (Or, God", or GOD, however you want to write it) 500 times. Probably after the 200th, or maybe the 300th time writing the word "god", it'll no doubt fail to have any meaning, in your conscious mind. So, perhaps that's a lesson. Maybe it's best to NOT write the word "God" on a piece of paper too many times! It mind "numb" your mind to the word. Perhaps. Bye, and Best Regards to all
