NotFormer: Well yes I can sympathize with their anxiety. Personally, for many years, I've felt that it is NOT humanly "Natural" for people to go from door to door. to present their personal religious "belief system" or "belief structure" to other people. It just isn't. That is an activity that human beings just "naturally" don't do. Best Regards.....Titch.

Door to Door Witnessing Anxiety
by NotFormer init's not only the jws who do door to door witnessing.
the independent baptists for the most part have "soul winning", mainly door to door witnessing and leaving tracts, as a tennet of their faith.
this discussion is interesting:.

Folks: The comment from NotFormer reminded me of something. Now, at my end of the line, on my computer, I can't really tell what the dress lengths are---ankle length? Just below the knee? I can't really tell , from the photo. But, I don't live very far from a local Kingdom Hall, in a nearby city. And, right across the street from the Hall is an elementary school. And, every once in a while, I'll stop at the school parking lot, and observe Witnesses as they are arriving and entering the building. Doing that, I've observed that many of the sisters are wearing dresses that are ankle-length. Oh that's fine with me, doesn't bother me at all. But, back in the early 1970s, when I was still a Witness and my Mom was too, we were assigned to a Congregation Book Study group, at the home of a family; the Sister in that family and my Mom were good friends through the years. Now, there was one evening that the Sister wore an ankle-length dress. That didn't bother me at all; it did not offend me as a 19-year old young person. A few days after that Book Study my Mom told me that the Elder assigned to the group as the Study Conductor had counseled that Sister, advising her against wearing a dress that was that long. She was told, You shouldn't get "so casual" while attending a meeting, whether it's a "Book Study" or at the Kingdom Hall. Now back then, when my Mom told me that, I was thinking, Sheesh, Really? YOu've got to be joking. Just how long is a Sister's dress supposed to be be, in order to be pleasing to Jehovah, (Yahweh)? Oh well, compare THAT mindset with the mindset that seems to exist today, 50 years later. Best Regards, Everyone --Titch. -

What does God eat ?

to those of you that believe in god: do you all believe the same thing ?.

Folks: If you are a person who advocates for pantheism---or, panantheism---then you believe that "god" is....the entire physical universe, or, cosmos. That's what "god" is---the entire cosmos, with all of its billions of galaxies (each galaxy perhaps having millions of stars in them). So, that would include our Milky Way Galaxy, the Solar System with all of its planets, and Earth, with all of its living entities that are upon it. It's an interesting concept. But still something worth considering. Best Regards, Everyone.----Titch.

One more thing: What's the purpose of the different planets in our so-called "Solar System"? Why are they "out there"? What's their purpose?

Folks: Well, something that I've been wondering about for some time....Why did god bring into existence so many galaxies? Why are they "out there"? What's their purpose for being in existence? Maybe it's what we humans would call a "hobby"---that is, creating galaxies that have millions, perhaps billions of stars in them? Could be, could be. Oh well----Best Regards. Titch.

How Do Jehovah's Witnesses View Education?
by southyukon ini have a question about this article.. https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/jw-education-school/.
higher education can lead to moral and spiritual dangers.
a bible proverb says: "the shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself.

Folks: I think that what the Original Poster was referring to was "higher education", or, college education. When I was growing up in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the mindset of the JWs seemed to be, just get the education that is only required by the government in your own particular country. And, that's it! And, while you are in high school, concentrate on subjects that you can use to support yourself when you graduate and obtain your high-school diploma.
But, during that time, MOST of my contemporaries (age-wise) did not even complete their high school education, and obtain a high-school diploma. Most of them dropped out of high school, with the thought of taking some "correspondence courses" to obtain their diploma. The thought among them was, get out there and pioneer. Spend time going from door-to-door. The end of the Old System is so very close, you can't spend time, or, waste time, attending high school! Most of my age-wise contemporaries did not even complete any correspondence courses to get their high-school diplomas. Many felt that even a high-school environment was a "corrupting" influence, not to mention college environments! Oh, well.
Myself, I was different. My parents, who were Witnesses, insisted that I should at least finish the 4 years of high school and get my diploma. Which I did, and I have never regretted it. Heck, I went to "Grad Night" at Disneyland, after the Graduation Ceremony. And, I had an enjoyable fun time that night! Best Regards to Everyone.-----Titch.

GrreatTeacher: I don't know what your age is; I am 69 years of age. I had the right hip replaced in February 2020, when I was 66. And, I had the left one replaced in October of 2022, when I was 68. Both times, I had no problems. I don't know what physicians practice in your area, but here in Southern California, MOST surgeons perform the operation in about 60 to 90 minutes, and the procedure is complete! My physician/surgeon INSISTS that his patients get up and walk around the hospital hallways that very day, and leave the hospital that very day. Due to personal circumstances, I insisted that the hospital find me a room, to stay in overnight, for observation only. So, by the next day, I was ready to return home. But, I experienced very little to no pain at all. (I had a relative who found that fact to be unbelievable, but it was true!) Prior to the operation, I was prescribed various pain-killing medications, to be used ONLY if I needed them. (It turns out, I didn't need any pain meds at all, including Hydrocodone, which is opioid-based.) My own personal advice to anyone is, DON"T take any Hycrocodone, unless it is absolutely necessary! If you don't need it, don't take it! So, I'm sure that you'll have a successful hip-replacement surgery. Best Regards to you. --- Titch

The ''dreaded'' birthday cake
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | september 2023. study article 39. let mildness be your strength.
11 if a workmate asks, for example, why we do not celebrate birthdays, consider: could he be wondering whether we are allowed to have a good time?
or might he feel that our position will dampen the company’s team spirit?

ElderBerry: Well, hey, that's the solution! Just accept a piece of the "pagan" b-day cake, put it into the company refrigerator, and have it the next day! Problem solved! Best Regards, Everyone!----Titch.

Well, I, as an "ex", or "fader" certainly DO appreciate manners and respectfulness. Who doesn't? And, I can't understand why your question would be offensive to anyone on this forum. Best Regards-----Titch.
