Desirous: That could be...that could be. I've been wondering about something. Come January 20th, 2021, will it be time to "SWAMP the DRAIN" instead of the other way around? We shall see. Best Regards, Everyone.

Has anyone heard of the concept of "The Divine Right of Kings"? A concept in which kings---or queens, for that matter---have some "divine right" to be in that position, having been "appointed" by some deity, some "god". Well, I do believe that Donald J. is/has been living with this delusional concept of "The Divine Right of Trump Presidents." In other words, some god, or deity has appointed him to the office of the President of the United States, and, by golly, he has the "divine right" to be the President for another 4-year term. And, nothing, no person, is going to keep him from that "divine right." Best Regards, all!

i would think that the first thing to go for ex jws is the blood ban.
.
would you take a transfusion or give blood now!.
Mr. Minimus: You bring up an interesting subject. As far as donating blood, I know that with myself, I would be rejected as a donor. The reason why? Well, about 10 years ago, I worked for two weeks as a temporary clerk at local hospital here in SoCal, and my main duty was to work in the "volunteers department." I had to make telephone calls to persons who had in the past, been blood donors, and find out if they wanted to continue as a blood donor, at that hospital. One thing I learned from that was some people COULD NOT donate blood any more, because they were taking medication for some kind of personal medical condition, or, "malady". The hospital did not want people who were on any kind of medication, as a blood donor. Which is my situation too. All of those medications that you take, are in YOUR own blood stream, and if you donate blood, they will eventually get into someone else's bloodstream too; and you don't know what kind of reaction they will have as a result of "receiving" those meds into their blood system. Personally, I take medication to control hypertension, a heart medication, a medication to control cholesterol levels. So, I wouldn't be qualified to donate blood, because of the medications that I take.
Now, as far as receiving blood---If I was facing a procedure, I would want to store MY OWN BLOOD prior to the operation, and have my own blood put back into me, if it was needed. I feel VERY squeemish about having blood from another human being floating around inside of me. I just do. Oh, well, that's just me. Best Regards, everyone.

i gotta say, i don't know much about the solar system.
i never was particularly interested in it.. but i've recently read professor brian cox's book (which accompanies a bbc series) and it's completely fascinating.. i'm quite interested in pictures of mars.
martian landscapes seem familiar and different at the same time ….
Yes, indeed, LoveUni...the Solar System, and by extension, our known Universe, or Cosmos are both amazing. However, expanding upon the post by pistolpete...Looking at that photo taken by Hubble Space Telescope, it causes one to wonder---not matter what one's concepts or ideas are or aren't, of God, Allah, YHWH, Jesus, Buddha---or of theism or atheism or agnosticism---doesn't it make you stop to wonder---what are all of those known, discovered galaxies doing "out there"? I mean, why are they "there"? Why do they exist? What's their purpose? Is their purpose just so that puny, little human beings on this planet, in this corner of the Milky Way Galaxy can look at them by telescopes and ask these kind of questions that I'm asking? I wonder. Oh, I suppose that you could say that such questions need to be answered by the philosophers and theologians and religionists. Perhaps such questions should be left for the Philosophy/Theology Department. But, still.....Best Regards, all

a month ago it might have been questionable.
not now.
after bader’s death and biden’s inability, this shouldn’t be close.
Wellllllll, Mr. Minimus. Here it is, November 5th, two days after the Election, and it is still "up in the air"---undecided. Do you still think that Mr. Trump is going to win..."big"? I. Don't. Think. So. (Define "big".) The Candidate who wins will win by a "razor-thin" margin. But, hey, that's how the ball will bounce...that's how the cookie will crumble. Best Regards to all.

who wins?
who loses?
president/ senate/ house of representatives .
Now then, this is a message for everyone in the United States, and in California...Whoever wins or loses in the Election today. Could you please, Please, PLEASE remove the blight that is the campaign banners/posters from wherever they have been posted? I mean, come on, the banners and posters have served their purpose. So, please, after the Election is done, remove them! OK? Enough said.

As I have stated in a previous thread---it all comes down to what the prevailing "mood" of the electing populace in the US is right now. Is the electing populace in the "mood" of hey, let's get rid of that guy and elect someone new, or are they in the mood for a second, heaping helping of Trump/Pence? Well, we shall see either today, or this week. Best Regards...

you couldn't make it up!
saw this wt quote on a friend's page.
it is from the awake magazine of 1993, march 22nd apparently.
An interesting quotation there, "We have not the gift of prophecy." But---you DID HAVE the gift of "erroneous expectations, and erroneous predictions." THOSE gifts you did have. Best Regards, everyone.

today is my 51st anniversary.
of going to prison.. i was 20 years old.
i stood before district judge leo brewster and made a plea of "guilty".
WingCommander: I could be wrong on this, but from what I have read here on the Site, it is my understanding that Anthony Morris served in the Armed Forces---in Vietnam---before he became a JW. Maybe I am wrong on this, so could someone out there clarify this for me and others who are reading.
Be that as it may---the experience that Terry had with the draft, and his being sentenced to prison underscores in my mind of just how screwed up society and the justice system was, back in the 1960s, here in the United States. I mean, a young gentleman---of 20 years old---refusing to be inducted into the Armed Forces---and refusing to accept so-called "alternative service". Why , in the eyes of the justice system, such a person has committed a gross, evil, despicable, disgusting crime against society, and they deserve to be punished by having their freedom taken away---incarcerated in a prison for "x" numbers of years. Yeah, right, United States justice system. But, yeah, that was the mindset back then, in the 1950s and 1960s.
On a related side-note, during the past couple of years, I have learned something from watching an episode of the PBS series, "American Experience." The episode was about President Woodrow Wilson, and the entry of the US into the "Great War", aka, World War I, which was during Wilson's term of office. During that war there was a religious group here in the US, the Hutterites, who refused to be inducted into the Armed Forces, and their male members who refused military service were treated very harshly, being imprisoned in Leavenworth Prison. And, they were treated very brutally in that prison. Once again, a "stain" upon the history of the United States. Best Regards, to all, and Best Regards to you, Terry, wherever you might be.
