  Folks: Well, something that I've been wondering about for some time....Why did god bring into existence so many galaxies? Why are they "out there"? What's their purpose for being in existence? Maybe it's what we humans would call a "hobby"---that is, creating galaxies that have millions, perhaps billions of stars in them? Could be, could be. Oh well----Best Regards. Titch.

  How Do Jehovah's Witnesses View Education?

  Folks: I think that what the Original Poster was referring to was "higher education", or, college education. When I was growing up in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the mindset of the JWs seemed to be, just get the education that is only required by the government in your own particular country. And, that's it! And, while you are in high school, concentrate on subjects that you can use to support yourself when you graduate and obtain your high-school diploma.

  But, during that time, MOST of my contemporaries (age-wise) did not even complete their high school education, and obtain a high-school diploma. Most of them dropped out of high school, with the thought of taking some "correspondence courses" to obtain their diploma. The thought among them was, get out there and pioneer. Spend time going from door-to-door. The end of the Old System is so very close, you can't spend time, or, waste time, attending high school! Most of my age-wise contemporaries did not even complete any correspondence courses to get their high-school diplomas. Many felt that even a high-school environment was a "corrupting" influence, not to mention college environments! Oh, well.

  Myself, I was different. My parents, who were Witnesses, insisted that I should at least finish the 4 years of high school and get my diploma. Which I did, and I have never regretted it. Heck, I went to "Grad Night" at Disneyland, after the Graduation Ceremony. And, I had an enjoyable fun time that night! Best Regards to Everyone.-----Titch.

  Hip replacement on Monday. Wish me luck.

  as the title says i'm having a total hip replacement on monday.

  the pain has grown over the years and now i'm using a cane to walk.

  after steroid injections and physical therapy, it was decided that a total hip replacement is appropriate.

  GrreatTeacher: I don't know what your age is; I am 69 years of age. I had the right hip replaced in February 2020, when I was 66. And, I had the left one replaced in October of 2022, when I was 68. Both times, I had no problems. I don't know what physicians practice in your area, but here in Southern California, MOST surgeons perform the operation in about 60 to 90 minutes, and the procedure is complete! My physician/surgeon INSISTS that his patients get up and walk around the hospital hallways that very day, and leave the hospital that very day. Due to personal circumstances, I insisted that the hospital find me a room, to stay in overnight, for observation only. So, by the next day, I was ready to return home. But, I experienced very little to no pain at all. (I had a relative who found that fact to be unbelievable, but it was true!) Prior to the operation, I was prescribed various pain-killing medications, to be used ONLY if I needed them. (It turns out, I didn't need any pain meds at all, including Hydrocodone, which is opioid-based.) My own personal advice to anyone is, DON"T take any Hycrocodone, unless it is absolutely necessary! If you don't need it, don't take it! So, I'm sure that you'll have a successful hip-replacement surgery. Best Regards to you. --- Titch

  what happened to jehovah’s witness young men and why did it happen?______in the 1960s men of draft age were called upon to either serve in the military (during the vietnam war) or to comply with the alternate service option: serving in a hospital or community in need.. non-jehovah’s witnesses were faced with only one refusal: military service.jw boys and young men were instructed (in private) to refuse the alternate civilian service as well.

  the superior authorities had made this exemption for people of conscience.the law was clear on this.

  if we worked in a hospital community we would be free to go about our witnessing ministry - if we double-refused: we would languish in prison.a no-brainer to them.

  Blues Brothers: You put a different perspective on the Draft, and the Vietnam War that is valid. That brings me to something I've thought about in the past few years. Some of you might be familiar with the documentary that was produced by Ken Burns, and aired on most PBS television stations, here in the United States, a few years ago. It was all about the Vietnam War. After all of the series was aired and done, the "take-away" that I got from it was, that the U.S. involvement in the "conflict" in Vietnam was a complete waste of time, and resources, and lives---lives of young human beings who were drafted, trained, and sent to Vietnam to fight in that military conflict. To die for what? And, what did it gain the United States, or for that matter, Vietnam itself? I'll leave you to decide the answer to that one. OH, BTW, Balaamsass2---I was also classified as "1-H" at that time. It was kind of like a "Holding Pattern Classification" if I remember correctly.. Best Regards, Everyone.----Titch.

  Folks: To me, the fact that a person was convicted---and spent time in prison----for refusing to be inducted into the Military Service---is NOT a "black mark" on one's record for the rest of their life. And it SHOULD NOT be a bar to employment for the rest of their life. I am not an employer, and never have been one. But, if I was an employer and/or hiring manager, I would not view a person who had refused to be inducted, as a gross, evil, disgusting, despicable person who must be ostracized from society, for all eternity. I would not hold that against them
  

  Now then, a person who has been tried, convicted, and sent to prison for first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, bank robbery, grand larceny, armed robbery, home-invasion robbery, air piracy, and so on and so on, etc, etc.---that would be a "black mark" against their life's record. But---refusing induction? No. In my estimation, once they have served their prison sentence, they have paid "their debt" to society. (If you'd call it a "debt.") Oh, well, just my thoughts.   so, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.

  (i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.

  so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?

  Dogisgod: Wow, you really do bring back some "pleasant" memories of that event! Thinking back, I do believe that there was another publication that was released at that assembly, that being "All Scripture Is Inspired Of God", which was a blue-covered book.   Dagney: Interesting that you mention ice rinks. Years ago, I WAS involved in the recreation of ice skating. It was merely a recreational thing with me, and that is all. It was never a competition with me. I started skating in 1977, and kept at it until January of 2000. I had skated at an ice rink in Anaheim, and that day,after skating, I just never returned to it. I guess that I had just lost interest in it; I don't know why, but I just "chalk it up:" to getting older. Oh well, such is life. My figure skates are still in a tote bag here at my residence, and my original figure skates are still in a tote bag in my bedroom. But, they served their purpose quite well over the years. So, yeah, perhaps our paths DID cross at a local ice rink here in SoCal. Best Regards....Titch.

  i see this phrase a lot: "the indication of a cult is what happens when you leave.

  " i'm not sure where that originated, but it is a faulty categorization.

  "cult" is almost always used in a derogatory way.
