  i am desperately trying to get my wife to be balanced with the fs thing.

  she is obsessed with being a pioneer.

  i am so close to getting her to stop... yknot has been invaluable with a lot of personal things that have made a big difference, but i need a little nudge... if someone can find a quote from a wt source that shows it is wrong to neglect family to pioneer... damn hard to find.

YKnot has been INVALUABLE with a lot of personal things that have made a BIG difference, but I need a little nudge... if someone can find a quote from a WT source that shows it is wrong to neglect family to pioneer... DAMN hard to find. I have been through this CD rom all night and cannot find much on it (imagine that). Its almost like they want people to ignore their family's and pioneer... (sarcasm font unavailable)... a little quote help would be greatly appreciated. Of course the best quote is "come to me all you who are toiling and loaded down"... but please thank you in advance

  As a Witness - What did you Notice in How Elders Got Appointed ?

  i found it amazing being raised in the witnesses to see exactly who got appointed sometimes as an elder.

  it seemed that the criteria in my opinion had more to do with getting 10 hours a month in field service, answering at meetings, carrying microphones as a ministerial servant, or handling the magazine or literature counter !

  in doing these " functions " and attending meetings on a regular basis - a man was thought to be considered " spiritually strong " and qualify to be an elder and serve on judicial committees judging people's personal problems.

  @mjnm.... are we jealous? You have the same options as me to "do calls"... I dont lie though. I just leave. Again, as an elder no one questions me (except my wife).... ultimately this org has as much control as we let it. I let it have just enough that I wont leave just yet... everything else is mine.

  here is another sad story of how being a jw makes people's life miserable:.

  an 18-year-old malawian girl, who scored distinction in all the six subjects she sat for during the country's 2009 school certificate of education examinations (msce), has turned down a lucrative five-year, all expenses-paid scholarship from a university in china because she is a member of the christian sect jehovah witness, a private radio station who brokered the scholarships has said.. .

  'it's really sad she is made to give up a golden chance of a life-time,' gospel kazako, executive director of zodiak broadcasting station (zbs), told pana her e wednesday.. .

  my wife is another example of this. Not as glaring or disturbing and actually has a happy ending but she too had a scholarship offer. She turned it down because college is frowned upon. She regretted it. Thankfully her job paid for her to go to back and get her degree and she was able (with her loving husbands support of course) to successfully complete her degree. But she regrets not just doing it when she had the chance and was young. Me too. Having an infant and a wife who worked full time and went to college was hard. Thanks WTS.

  some persons like this repented and were reinstated.

  If I had to guess, I would say he WAS pissed about having to come by. i bet the majority on the body were trying to let you know it was OK and they wanted you to come back, prob didn't think you should have been DF'd and the two who were hard on you cried to him. Thus he cracked down on them and came to tell you what was what.

  I shocked. You didn't take this as an oportunity to take a shot at me... I'm almost disapointed

  @flipper, hell yes. I am working like a mad man to step down, without drawing too much attention. I have a plan that is moving very smoothly ahead. i have already turned down all parts on assemblies. My wife is going to stop pioneering in sep and I am going to step down around the first of the year for "family" reasons. (my wife is still a major zealot though so I am working on her in the mean time) The fade will begin in earnest from there.

  Psychopathy and Corporations

  i remember seeing a documentary a while ago about how legally, corporations are a 'person' and as such demonstrate a psychopathic personality.. the author of the book it was based on profiled criminal psychopaths and corporations and found them to be of the same mentality and motive of operation.. anyone else remember this?.

  i feel it goes a long way to demonstrate why the watchtower corporation(s) has become the monster it is and why acts as it does, why it matters not what any individual or group thinks and why it will stomp on people to stay in its power.. the articals are pretty long but the links should start you off!.

  Oz, I read the same thing some years ago and actually Ray Franz spoke on it as well. Individuals speak of the "organization" when making decisions, but fail to make the connection that at the highest levels, like the GB, they ARE the organization. its a way to hide and disavow responsibility for decisions and the consequences of them. after all the "organization" did it, not the men running the org. It happens in big corporations all the time. the company MUST survive at the cost of all else, even those who make it work day to day. but when the Head (CEO or GB) change direction or leave, its "oh well that was a company decision"... its physco when you listen to company heads speak of things that happened after they leave a company. like they had no input. it was "the company"...
