"At least He/She died before 'Armageddon'..." How do you counter this....?
by ziddina inwe've seen this, or have heard of it..... a tragic death happens - often it's even caused by watchtower edicts, like shunning or "no blood" policy.... and the brainwashed - or brain-dead - witnesses resort to yammering watchtower propaganda - "at least he/she died before 'armageddon', so maybe he'll / she'll have a chance at being 'resurrected'...".
we've all seen the insane level of hypocrisy within the watchtower society... i've several examples in mind, wherein the witness parent shunned a witness child, leading to the child's suicide or indirectly to his/her death, and then the witness - make that witless - parent stands there at the funeral mouthing that "at least he/she died before 'armageddon', so maybe he'll / she'll have a chance at being 'resurrected'..." line of b.s.
..... what can one say to block that self-congratulatory blather??

I lol'd at blondie... I too once said something similar. A very good friend had died (not "in the truth") and some jack hole said something similar.. my response..
"well I can only wish the same for you then"...
they didn't get it at first.. I saw it begin to dawn them as I gave a dirty look and walked away..

How many ex-bethelites or current are there on this board?
by mamalove inanyone ever did a count on those who are comfortable sharing that?
i am just curious, because we know you don't have to be this amazing ball of zeal to make it to bethel (at least some of the ones i have seen), or to be an elder, or ms or any other pious position the jw's have invented-i digress- but i always found it interesting the perspective because i never went there, and sometimes the bethel bro and sis had some interesting stories..

Abuse of Authority and Tax Exemptions in the WT Organization
by OnTheWayOut ini will relay this as hearsay as i was not personally involved, but perhaps some of you can personally attest to such abuses for the apologists out there.. even this "hearsay" was verified by another person who was involved to some extent.. this spanish former elder told a two-fold story about abuse of authority and abuse of the tax exemption that wts has.. tax exemption- his story was about how, in the building of an assembly hall in illinois, the people in charge of various portions of the project bought materials and automobiles with the tax exemption number given to them.
among their materials and automobiles were materials and automobiles for their home and personal use.
he then went on to describe the situation a double kingdom hall with six spanish congregations found itself in.

Wow that second one is a heck of a story.. I believe it though
as for the first one.. no big. We did that up here when we were building both our assembly hall and our KH. Hell, I cant tell you how many tools I have bought with our congregations tax id from HD... some of them I did use at the site but they are mine and bought with my money.
