For those still in- why do you (really) stay, and what would it take for you to leave the org?

for the so-called conscious class, those of you who know it's all a disgusting lie, what is the real reason you stay in?

i find it hard to understand how ones who know what the org truly is would continue to be an active jw.

i'm not talking about the "faders"- those with an actual plan to get out as painlessly as possible.

That particular statement was crafted specifically to be condescending. It was also crafted to reflect the tone of your OP. Part of being a grown up is understanding how what we say MAY be viewed by others. Being respectfull is part of social interactions. declaring anyone who stays a coward is, dear child, imature in the extreme. I hope as you grow in your life outside the org you continue come to appreciate the need to repsect others so they may in turn find you respectable. I hope you find in your life's path someone or something ( I recomend a dog) that you love more than yourself and would sacrifice for.

I am however, disapointed to find that my inital assesment of your post was correct.

The elders of the '80s are retiring

i was catching up on news with a friend of mine from my old hall - a few of the elders have stepped down and some have retired.. these are men who were in their 30's during the 1980's when i was very young - now they are retiring or facing retirement.. i sometimes wonder how they feel after working all those years only to wake up and realize that their working lives are over.. do they ask themselves: what's happened?

where's armaggedon?

the day of reckoning has come - the elders who were 30 in 1980 are now 60 years old.

I know those men, at least some of them. They are not worried at all. The end is now 30 years closer.. Salvation is at hand!!!

Wife may have Breastcancer, not sure.

she has had strange coloured discharge from one breast for a while now.

the doctor didn't really seem to take it seriously.

yesterday she shouts me screaming and she shows me blood coming from her nipple, like you would expect milk to.

well please dont take her going to work as a sign that she is strong and dosent her man to support her! There is comfort in routine, that is all. be there for her.

you are also correct in that the first appointment is only the first step. Expect three to four visits to different doctors before you get even the first diagnosis, which may or may not be correct. Just be calm, and stay informed. keep plugging away at it until YOU are satisfied, not the doctors.

kw, thats tough. We would always rather it be us then them.. but take heart. breast cancer is very treatable and you know NOTHING yet. Postive thoughts. check this link out. Knowledge is truly power. She may be very shy and timid about asking questions when at the doctors, being in a bit of shock. YOU advocate for her!!! It will help you feel empowered and be a huge support to her

I need to add though, serenity, that your original question comes accross as said like a self richeous bitch. Your avatar is a princess... i hope that is not your real life persona as well. I apologize in advance if I have misjudged, i have not interacted with you a lot on this board, if leaving was easy for you then bless you.

What exactly would it take for you to just walk away?

only make me hear a spoiled little girl, full of contempt for those below her, who struggle with something so easy as walking away from the org. Grow up dear. Life for adults is not always black and white. Adults have to think of more then just themselves and their own short term self satisfaction, such as they may get from flipping the bird to the org and skipping merily away.

again, if i misread or misjudged, i will put on sacloth and ash, but at 4pm EST thats what that question read like
