Last Temptation of the Christ

i just discovered this film for the first time tonight.

what an amazing piece of work!

the portrayal of jesus and judas as men who both wanted freedom from roman rule yet were vastly different in their approach was thought provoking.

The writter of this is Nikos Kazantzakis, the Greek writter who also wrote Zorpas and many other excellent books. It was like he was trying to show a temptation that Jesus could face just before he died on the Cross. He tried to give the human nature of Jesus, and the straggle to cope with the human feelings.

They were many who didn't like at all that novel. In fact some in the Orthodox Church they tried to exocommunicate Nikos Kazantzakis. There is no connection between the Orthodox way of "disfellowship"with the WT. The only thing is that you are not allowed is to have the Blood and Flesh of Christ in the Church.

I just can't see how JW's don't see the double standarts of their religion...My daughter was 11, and I recall 2 small JW's got baptized in the ages of 6&7....

Give me a break man...how can they accuse other religions for child baptism, when they are doing the same? Can a 9 year old kid really "know" what is doing. The most irritating for me is that a 9 year old child can get disfellowsiped for any "offence". How can they do that to a child, and we all know the evil procedures of shunning by the WT Society. Can you imagine a 9 year old child to be treated like that???

WT is one of the most mind control destructive cults. In Europe at least we have more strict laws regarding "religions", but still who will defend a 9 year old kid when everyone surround him are a banch of misleaded pawns of the WT Society?

Regarding Adam...In the Greek text it does not say that he was perfect...It simply says that it was very good( lian kalos). So there is a lot of difference between being good and perfect. But WT since they got it all wrong and misleaded by saying Adam was perfect.

Adam is the Spiritual Father of the human race, and not the physical as WT and many other believe. I will not go through dates, since to believe that human history is only 6000 years old it will be naive, and against archeological evidence. God through Adam was going to bring human race in to a graduate perfect condition, but most of all a personal relation with our Creator. That is why in the Hebrew and the Greek texts of Genesis clarify the difference between good(kalos) and perfect(telios)

Then we have the fossils that palaiontologists are finding. We see that the earth has a graduate evolution, and this is a fact. In this graduate evolution we see that we have animals, that eating plants, and animals that are flesh eating. So it is against WT's theology if God created all the animals to eat plants, since we have animals that dissapeared long before the human spieces appears on earth that they eated flesh. So the question for a JW is why did God created those blood thirsty animmals?

But in Mathew the Hellenic word is clearly PERFECT(telios) and is reffering also to the divine qualities of God. Besides this it is said in Genesis when He said let us make man according our likeness and image.(kat oikonan(image), kai omiosi(likeness) imon)

For the Apostolic Orthodox Church humans are not only flesh and bones(like WT believes). Humans carry the Holly Spirit of God, and this spirit is our Soul that was God's gift to mankind through our Spiritual Father Adam. With our life on earth we can allow Jesus to enter in our lifes and live a holy life. The goal of a Christian is to reach Holyness, and have personal relation with Jesus.

Horrible conduct by congregation Elders at my cousin's funeral.............

my cousin passed away last week from cancer at the age of 49. the cancer spread so fast it took our family by surpise.

we figured she had a couple of years instead of months.

she left 4 children(3 were baptised and 1 was disfellowshipped a couple of years ago).

FlyingHighNow, this was an exeption. Indeed in the past times we had elders that they were kind and more modest regarding shunning. It seems that in U.S JW's are more strict to follow WT''s guidelines for shunning.

This is not happening in my country. The good thing is that WT cult could not brake completely the family bonds of our Hellenic Cultrure. And I can give several examples:

My coussin is getting married, and her father in law,who left JW's years ago attended to the wedding reception and the Kindom Hall. In fact he was standing along with the parents and he was receiving the greatings of the guests...my coussin invided her sister to attend at the wedding reception, although she is disfellowshiped.

My close JW's friends still call me(and they know that I'm apostate) Also some of my close relatives still talked to me

A dear JW friend died and she had 2 friends that they came to funeral. They were disfellowshiped years back, but they give their condolesences to the mother, and they all cried.

My sister speaks to me like nothing happened, and so does a close friend of her

A family friend(elder) gave me a big hug just at the entrance of the kindom hall. He had a few years to see me because he lives in a foreign country( I went to pick up my mother)

An elder who walks in the street see me coming and he gave me hand shake and spend 15 talking with me

But there are those who are norrow minded, and they make me sick. Specially I have this reaction from elders who come from US and Canada. They are amazing assholes...

Sorry about your cousin, hope that this event will open the eyes of others

Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and those who leave cults

quite a few people on jwd have said they suffer from complex post traumatic stress disorder ( c-ptsd).

i'm not sure how well this issue has been discussed.

c-ptsd is slightly different than ptsd.

Really nice post.....I remeber when I had several of the symptoms described at your post. Many times I was thinking if I have gone crazy....I'm glad that most of us can continue with their lifes. but most of all I realize that I'm not the only one who has facing those problems and it was just a process that most of us have to face when we are dealing with Mind Control Cults

People still demonstrating and they are more calm. But the mass of the people demonstrating is getting larger and larger day by day. When you are hungry, when there is unjustice, when your own Country treats you like nothing, then is about time to raise your voice and start to act.

Those who are in power must realize that without us they are NOTHING...And I'm not talking only for Hellas. Is just that the Hellenic people we can tolerate a lot, but our toleration has LIMITS...And those limits ended. We cannot accept LIES, we cannot accept CORRUPTION, we cannot accept those politicians who sell our country, because our history and our herritage for more than 5,000 years dictates this to us. When the time comes to fight we FIGHT. Besides we never care who was the enemy, or how strong was. Either he was an inside thread or from outside.

I see that in many countries we have the same situations. I see that U.S. people are loosing their homes, their politicians lie to them, start a war that cost's billions of dollars, and the homeless people are increasing, while the health system is in a bad shape. If we don't act against those who are trying to control us, then we have no future. We must fight for our future and our children.

Regarding faking report, I think they don't do it in the local branches of the WT...

The secretary in the Cong does this, and those who go(still) preaching work. I recall when the secretary was calling those who did not report their hours. For istance we had elderly ones, and he was asking if they have talked to someone this month. Most of them they would say that they did, and the total was an hour. Sometimes when he could not reach he would add time according to last months report!!! And in my days we had the ONE HOUR goal for a month to be counted as regular publisher... Now things change and with a 15 minute preaching activity you can be count as regular...

Then we have those who preach. How many times they strech the hours to catch the "time goal" of a spiritual person? How many times they count their 15-20 minute brake for a coffee in Mcdonnald's? And how many people of a 2 hour preaching session they find at home to speak? And since most of the JW's are going by 2 to preach, then we must sepparate the total preaching hours into half..

And Jw's seriously believe that they are message it is reached to the entire plannet!!! Give me a break man... Most of the people in the Western countries they don't know what they teach. Most of them think that JW's are loonies that allow their children to die instead to have a blood transfussion if is a medical need. And not to mention the 3 world countries, Muslim Countries, India, China, and the last 2 are the 1/3 of the population of the earth. Indeed JW's are living in their own fake world, believing that they are the ones who will save mankind...

So the hours are faked:

1. By the local Secretary

2. By those who preach

Interesting report...the WT is dicreasing..there is no increase at all. Boy after the change of the "heavenly door" more and more JW's are becoming "annointed"...The Gb knows to slip from their past doctrines that have no Biblical ground...

I have made a reasearch from the years 1996-2005 in this subject with the following outcome:

a)In 1996 WT shows peak publishers of 5,167,258

b)From 1996-2005 we had a total of baptisms 2,967,901 almost 3 millions got baptized

c) Also in 1996 JW's reported 4,855,030 bible studies. Since the WT reports only the publishers end not the Baptized JW's, from the Bible studies we have a big number that they were JW's children. I would say, having in mind my cong that 20% of the bible studies are JW's children. So the 20% of the 5,167,258 is about 4,320,000 baptized JW's. So if we add the number of the baptized publishers in 1996, and the number of those that got baptized from 1996-2005, we have the total number of 8,784,000 puplishers in 2005 adding and the 20% of the unbaptized JW's .

d) But we must also have in mind that from 1996-2005 we had an increase in the Bible studies from 4,855,030 in 1996 to 6,061,046 in 2005. So we have 1,200,000 more bible studies, and a huge number of them supposed to get baptized. (The rate of 1% dead it is balanced with the rates of birth, although this is not and the most correct calculation)

Conclusion:In the year 2005 JW's should be more that 10 Millions world wide. But in 2008 they have around 7 millions. So were do all those people go???

The WT to be more correct in their figures they should report every year the number of the:

1.Total Publishers

2.Number of unbaptized publishers

3.Number of baptized ones

4.Number of disfellowshiped ones

5.Number of innactive ones

But for sure this is a joke since WT is hidding the actual figures because they really scare to show the dicrease they have to the remaining faithfull JW's. The increase of the WT is a plasmatic and not real, having in mind the earths expanding rate births and population
