WT Study 1/10/16 Encouraging Child Baptism And More Nonsense
by JW_Rogue ini've noticed that each wt lesson really only has one or two points they want remembered.
normally they build up to these by about the third subheading.
this week's lesson though was different, the main point was insidiously made through an experience in the first paragraph:.

I was baptized at 12 and I didn't truly believe it even then...but I did it to please my parents. Most kids want to please their parents and trust their parents and don't understand the ramifications of such a serious action as baptism...there was a kid who got baptized at 7 last assembly...so sad. -

Share Your Personal Experiences Please!
by LaurenM inso since leaving the borg i've made quite a few stupid mistakes, hurting myself a lot..but i finally feel like i've learned and i think, in time, i'll find my happiness again...even more happiness that i could've ever had being a jw.. but my question to you guys is, what was your experience like leaving the borg?
did you struggle at all?
how long have you been out?

Haha you're funny brandnew...and I agree that's a good thing to keep in mind Airborne. It's not an easy transition finding your wings after being part of a cult. Perhaps that's why it takes time & isn't an easy process. -

Thanks for sharing Just Fine (:...sorry if this post seems redundant in any way, but I think it would be nice to hear everyone's experiences...good or bad -

So since leaving the Borg I've made quite a few stupid mistakes, hurting myself a lot..but I finally feel like I've learned and I think, in time, I'll find my happiness again...even more happiness that I could've ever had being a JW.
But my question to you guys is, what was your experience like leaving the Borg? Did you struggle at all? How long have you been out? What is your life like now? Is it happy? I still have this unshakeable, irrational feeling that Jehovah will/is punishing me for what I've done..although I know that's not true. Please share!

Thoughts About Individuality, Not Living Forever, and the Beauty of Knowing TTAT
by LaurenM inso i guess i like to use this forum to kind of vent my thoughts to people who'd understand..but anyways, i realized i've been out six months now, and if you've read my old posts you'd know that i've made several "mistakes" so far.
i've been kind of promiscuous and have gotten hurt...but despite all that, i feel like these past few months have been the happiest of my entire life!
i finally know what boundaries are good for me and i just feel so..free!

So I guess I like to use this forum to kind of vent my thoughts to people who'd understand..but anyways, I realized I've been out six months now, and if you've read my old posts you'd know that I've made several "mistakes" so far. I've been kind of promiscuous and have gotten hurt...but despite all that, I feel like these past few months have been the happiest of my entire life! I finally know what boundaries are good for me and I just feel so..free! Free to believe and feel and do what is right for ME..not what "Jehovah" tells me to. I feel like I'm heading towards the life that I want, even though it's not the one my parents or "Jah" wants. It amazing how beautiful each day of life feels when you don't have the prospect of "living forever on paradise earth". I think life is like fireworks...it burns brilliantly and then dies..and I think the temporality of it all makes it ever the more beautiful. And I think paradise is HERE and NOW if we live our lives the happiest that we can, the way we want, sure there will be struggles, but those serve to heighten your appreciation of the good times...I've been taught forever that it is a sin to live the life you want, you must live the life Jehovah wants...but I know now that it's a sin NOT to..it would be an enormous waste of a beautiful, temporary existence. I only wish more people knew TTAT and could see it.....long post, but I really wanted to share my epiphany lol

10 Years On...
by done4good injust a note that 10 years ago, (christmas day, 2005), was my last time inside a kh.
a lot has taken place for the better in those 10 years:.
1. met the love of my life and happily married for 9 years, two days ago.. 2. completed a master's degree.. 3. work at senior management level in the it field.. 4. have a savings and retirement, and no debt outside of a mortgage and 1 car loan.. 5. lots of travel to several places that i never would have done as a jw.. 6. contribute to what i believe are meaningful causes.. 7. read, think, and meditate for myself.. 8. have a great extended family i inherited from my wife.. 9. lots of other great stuff, too much to list.. none of this is intended to be boastful.

My Experience with Wordly Guys
by LaurenM insorry, two posts in a day..but i need to vent something: so far my experience with "worldly" guys has not been the best 1. my first guy experience was with a dude who left state and never came back 2. a coworker asked me to netflix and chill and i did 3. a guy wanted to sext me all the time but never took me out on a date and i did 4. a guy who took me on a great date but then asked me up to his apartment immediately after and then didn't call me after 5. finally, another great date, until after the guy texted me asking for nude pics..told him no!
so basically i've concluded that i had been giving off a vibe that i had no self respect and that was confirmed by me allowing them to use me as a sex object..but i'm hoping that not all worldly guys are like this, and when i start acting like i have self respect, they will treat me like that too?
is that a good assumption?

The Elders are Coming Help!
by LaurenM inso the elders keep bugging me and pestering me about having a meeting with them to "introduce me to my new congregation" for some reason (do any ex elders know what that even means??).
i keep postponing and making excuses and they are getting more and more aggressive.
i finally agreed for them to come over today, but really don't want to..should i hide from them again?

How can I make them just go away? I haven't been to the meetings in like two months so that's probably what it's about but idk. -

The love that use to be in their eyes is no longer there.
It's so sad that JW family members only love you on the condition that you stay a JW. Love should be unconditional or its not really love. They may say they still love you, yet they still pray for Armageddon to come when you'll be (in their minds) destroyed. It's a sad religion. But at least you have your husband to support you :)
