So I just got engaged to my boyfriend of over a year. My JW parents still don't know about him. I'm currently faded, so they know I'm not a practicing JW, but I am baptized. I would like my parents to come to my wedding though. How can I break it to them? Will they even come? My dad's an elder and my mom is a pioneer. Has anyone gone through this? Any ex-elders know about the reprecussions of them going to a wedding where a JW is marrying a non JW? Please help.

So I have been "faded" for approximately 2.5 years. My parents know I haven't attended a meeting in quite some time, but don't know that I have been dating a guy for about eight months. We really love each other and his family is super sweet. I think we may get married to each other someday (we've already talked about it.) However, my parents know nothing about him and his family naturally would like to meet mine. Is there any way I can introduce them? How would they react to me having a "wordly" boyfriend even if I assert that we don't spend any time alone and we're not sleeping together. I feel like I'm slowly forgetting the JW doctrine being out for a while. My dad's an elder. I know they would like his family if they just got over the fact that they're not JWs. HELP!

Is this a normal JW practice? Warning, this will be a bit graphic.
by Sequoia inthis post may be disturbing and i apologize, but i'm just trying to find out if this is a practice the jw teaches.
i was taken advantage of by a guy claiming to be a jw preacher.
he took me to his house supposedly so i could give his daughter piano lessons, and then he basically forced himself on me while telling me he was in love with me and wanted to marry me.

And I also hope you know that what he did to you is in NO WAY your fault. He is a criminal. Please seek help

Why are you guys all doubting what she said??? And calling her post bullshit. Stop it!! She has been through a lot and I'm sure all of you posting comedic ally on here don't know what pain and confusion sexual assault victims go through. It is one of the most traumatic events that can happen. If you have doubts keep them to yourself, they are of no help here and would only serve to heighten her anxiety. @sequoia I hope you are able to track him down. He needs to pay for what he did. I doubt this is the first time and he needs to be stopped. He is not a Christian. He deserves to rot in jail.

Now I'm Convinced There Probably Is No God
by pale.emperor inyesterday i made a visit to the museum in my city.
the top floor is the planetarium, which has a connecting room with a huge dome ceiling where they project lessons and lectures and you have a 360 view of the night sky etc.. this particular lecture explained about our galaxy, and how it's only one of billions in the universe.
and then we learned about each planet, some of their moons and the sun.

I'm still not sure what I believe. But I like the scripture that says, "God is love". I like to take that literally. God is the goodness, kindness and humanity in people. The "devil" is evil and hatred in people who hurt others...all religious circle around this simple principal. Do good (aka act in a way that benefits, or at least doesn't harm others) and goodness will come to you. Do bad (hurt people, lie to people, steal, cheat, etc.) and badness will be returned. It's simple cause and effect. A karmactic boomerang. That's why I try to not be too hard on myself for my "sins" of fornication...because it didn't hurt anyone. In fact, it probably brought them pleasure lol. But since it hurt me, I won't do it again. Right and wrong is what is right and wrong for you and has a positive/negative impact on others. -

Watchtower Annulled My Baptism
by RICHT incontrary to popular belief you can have your baptism annulled as i did by my local elders after my judicial hearing.. the watchtower of 1964 page 126 first paragraph clearly states that anyone that was committing a gross sin before, during and after their baptism is void.
in order to get right with the lord you would need to be re-baptised.
err no thanks, i'm not a believer!!!!.

Can my baptism be annulled?? I can lie and say I was smoking weed or idk sleeping around..,but seeing how I was only 12 it might not be believable...I did lie a lot as a kid & that's an über sin according to the bible.,or is the poster just a troll?

JWs Excited Trump Won
by LaurenM ini am incredibly disturbed.

I am incredibly disturbed. Many of the JWs I'm still friends with on Facebook are incredibly excited that Trump won the American presidential race, posting, "Yay! I'm so happy! The end is near! The great tribulation is about to happen! Woohoo!" (essentially). It literally makes me sick to see them celebrating and looking forward to the immanent deaths of 99% of humanity. Is this going to make me run back to "Jehovah"? No. Even if the world does end and Trump starts a nuclear war, I rather die having lived this past year than to have died a JW.

Question for Christians: What Religion are You Now?
by LaurenM ini know many on here are atheist.
but for the christians on here...what religion are you now that you are no longer a jw?
i'm still undecided as to whether i believe in god.

I know many on here are Atheist. But for the Christians on here...what religion are you now that you are no longer a JW? I'm still undecided as to whether I believe in God. I have been doing a lot of research on evolution. However, I want to delve into creationism as well to see what makes the most sense to me. My ideal christian religion would not promote a strict, literal interpretation of the bible...but would view it as a loose reflection of God (perhaps mis-translated and mis-adapted to fit the ideals of the time period). Like, I will always believe that God (if he were real) would still accept those who were homosexual, were Muslim or Buddhist or whatever, as long as they were GOOD PEOPLE and don't purposefully hurt others without apology. Does any christian-based religion teach this? What are the base principles of whatever religion you are involved in?

I'm Going to Break Up with My Boyfriend Today
by LaurenM inso like the title suggests, i'm going to break up with my boyfriend today.
it's for several reasons, but mostly because i'm not prepared for a relationship.
i need to grow and learn what it's like to be me now that i'm not a jw and learn how to love myself so i don't make the person i am with miserable.

@berrygerry Wow all of the qualities they associate with a high control group/cult match up with JW-world exactly! And I think I've felt many of the effects that they list too...I've always thought it seemed..idk, weak to go to see a therapist..I suppose that comes from the idea that "the society" and "Jehovah" is all that you need to cope with your problems lol...but I think it would actually be a good idea to do so & I'll have to look into getting that book to.
