But, isn't it a "Wicked System of Things?"
by PenelopePaige ini am not a jw but one thing that they really get me on is when they call the outside world a "wicked system of things" and say it is run by the devil.
i know the world can be great and people can be wonderful but on the flip side, the bad seems to be getting worse and morals seem to be flying out the window.
i don't know, what do you guys think?

I don't feel things have necessarliy become worse. May seem that way due to rapid population increase and the blitz from media's obsession with the negative. If it bleeds, it leads.
A lot of things have improved. Only 100 years ago (in the US)…
- Avg. life expectancy was 47
- Only 14% of homes had a bathtub
- Third highest cause of death was diarrhea
- Insulin, and antibiotics hadn't been discovered yet
- Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school
- 18% of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic
- Women couldn't vote
- And...*gasps*….canned beer hadn't been invented yet. -

Tough Situation.
by Low-Key Lysmith inmy grandmother is not doing so well health-wise.
she just turned 91 and has been a faithful jw her entire life.
she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is battling pneumonia on top of that.. we were very close up until the point, a few years ago, when she asked me flat-out if i had any intention of coming back or if i even believed in god.

Sorry to hear that, Breck. Ah the drama of an over-righteous JW making an already difficult situation much worse. The good part is your grandmother wants to see you again.

Your epitaph...what would you like it to be?
by onacruse inimagine that you are staring down from some ethereal plane of post-death...not the funeral, mind you, but perhaps years or decades after your physical decease.. what would you feel pleased to see written on your gravestone?.
me:.
he thought he'd figured it out,.

Classic scene, although I've never seen that film. Is it worth actually watching the entire thing?
Haven't seen it either...only some parts of it when I was a kid but it was boring back then. Just wanted to watch Knight Rider and Airwolf. Probably should watch it...maybe Netflix has it. If they don't I'll be angry.

Nickolas...I'll have to give The Selfish Gene a read. Thoroughly enjoyed Greatest Show on Earth - that one blew me away as to the incredible amount of diverse evidence for evolution. Scanning that latest Awake and their tiresome false assumptions and analogies was frustrating - amazing how people fall for the lies. But hopefully they're on a slippery slope as the evidence continues to pour in, and the evolution deniers eventually join the minority with the geocentrists.

Made me think of this, Miz.

Is it possible to completely forget the JW experience.
by mankkeli ini am wondering if it is possible to completely forget our jw experience after a long time, and live life as if we have never been one.
no memories, no bitterness, no meeting up with ex-members, nothing connected to the jws in our feelings.. is this ever possible, could it ever happen, and how long possibly..

"Who created the intelligent creator?"
by mankkeli indid the complexity of life arise spontaneously, or did it require a creator?christians believe that a creator is essential.
scientists believe that the idea of a "creator" is pure mythology, and that the complexity arose through natural processes like evolution.
you can actually answer this question yourself with a little logic.

sinis: If you think about it too long you can go mad. Maybe something else is going on, and we were never meant to know the "truth"
I remember as a kid trying to comprehend the parentals telling me "Jahoover has always existed and there is no end to the universe". Brain, snap.
And who knows if we'll ever find out the "truth"...that's the exciting part. There was a time when no one knew what that bright yellow thing in the sky was, or walking on the moon seemed preposterous 100 years ago. Maybe we'll know someday...if we can stick around long enough that is.
