"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

From the same article, in an earlier paragraph, there's this...
8 The apostle Paul advises Christians
not to leave a marriage partner just because
that individual is an unbeliever.* (Read 1 Corinthians 7:12-16.)(Bottom of page)
*Paul’s counsel does not rule out legal separation
in extreme situations. That is a serious personal
decision. If physical beatings are tolerated, what does the GB consider to be an 'extreme situation'? Perhaps cannibalism?

Yeah I noticed that too yourmomma. How dare she "try to prove a point"...that kinda thing is gonna bring on a beatdown. But just take the beatings and after 17 years he'll accept the truth. Abracadabra!
Here's that paragraph...
12 Selma recalls a lesson she learned
from the Witness who studied with her.
“On one particular day,” says Selma, “I
didn’t want to have a Bible study. The
night before, Steve had hit me as I had
tried to prove a point, and I was feeling
sad and sorry for myself. After I told
the sister what had happened and how
I felt, she asked me to read 1 Corinthians
13:4-7. As I did, I began to reason,
‘Steve never does any of these loving
things for me.’ But the sister made me
think differently by asking, ‘How many
of those acts of love do you show toward
your husband?’ My answer was,
‘None, for he is so difficult to live with.’
The sister softly said, ‘Selma, who is
trying to be a Christian here? You or
Steve?’ Realizing that I needed to adjust
my thinking, I prayed to Jehovah to help
me be more loving toward Steve. Slowly,
things started to change.”After 17 years,
Steve accepted the truth. -

The general atheist meaning of life
by mankkeli ini have posted this on another forum where i mentor on spirituality and i am posting here again.. when things like spirituality are no longer present in one's life, they may or may not stop looking for meaning.
meaning is an essential part of human psychology, though some feel the need for it less than others, and even a few seemingly don't at all.
there also seems to be a trend that occurs: in the lack of a meaning of life, the brain tries to find one, because it sees a purpose for everything.. .

So you're claiming your story is now, that you are finnish, went to a norwegian college, where you earned a PhD in something vague from a mysterious person, while never publishing anything, then mentored finnish evolutionary biologists, all while being a witness, becoming an elder, and leading a congregation while secretly arranging apostate get togethers across europe, while publishing various books that no one can find, while also acting as a spiritual guru to theologians and lay people, as well as teaching sociologists about cults and cult behaviors.
JonH...LOL that's great. Mankkeli reminds me of the old Jon Lovitz pathological liar sketch...

"just wanted to point out that Mankkelis post 318 , " When you nitpick, you start finding little holes in thinking like that,..." is a copy-paste of this"
bohm...good catch, and that is not the first time this asshat has been caught copy/pasting from other sites. Outlaw has pointed out two others that were take from Topix, on this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/217357/2/What-has-atheism-done-for-the-world
mankkeli is just a troll, with tourettes.

"Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?"
Good thread Charlie. When I was 16/17 I was obsessed with The Wall. Remember my older, self-righteous, sister would lecture me on how it was "dark"...the "Devil's music". LOL...what rubbish. She's no longer a JW and we laugh about that.

by mankkeli inplease dont be guilty of the sins you have indicted the wt of commiting.
something is common to all on this discussion board, we are quick at castigating the watchtower.
although, i understand your reasons for doing so, but i will warn you not to be guilt of the same offense the wt had committed.

Thanks for those other links JonH and BoC. Great stuff!
drew...you and I are examples of evolutionary developments. Here's a simple example: when you get goosebumps ever wonder why? They are a vestigial feature from a time when we had more hair and being fluffed up served as insulation for warmth. Also as a fear response, to appear larger, like cats do.
Another observable example outside of humans is the ostrich or the kakapo parrot. Winged birds that are now flightless. The kakapo parrot has been seen to, when frightened, scoot up a tree and jump off in an attempt to fly. Only to plummet straight back down to the ground. Poor bugger.

Agreed NC. I thought there had to be a catch, such as some are free but you'd have to pay for the full course. But no, it's all there. Just started taking a look at this course - http://www.cosmolearning.com/courses/principles-of-evolution-ecology-and-behavior-285/ Fascinating!
N.drew...answers to your questions can be found on that site. You just need to put the time in.
