Hilarious vid Sab. The battle of good vs evil started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away!
Makes me think of another irony...the battle for universal sovereignty is taking place on this little speck of a planet, on the edge of an obscure little galaxy on the edge of the universe? As Carl Sagan would say in Pale Blue Dot "the earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena...a fraction of a dot". This is where the two most powerful beings in the universe are duking it out?
Only the small mind of man would come up with such "imagined self-importance...the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe".
Never tire of Carl's words...

The media thing. They say the whole world is in Satan's control...including the media. So if you hear something bad in the media it is Satan lying because he controls the media. Okay, fine. If that's a given...Satan is doing a piss-poor job with all that power. How often do you hear negative things in the media about JWs? Hardly ever, if ever. JWs pretty much fly under the radar. If Satan really wanted to run them out of business, there would be stories all over the mainstream news about the fraudulent and corrupt JW organization.
Funny he doesn't use his media power for any of that....isn't it?

That the truth is a bright light...that the truth will set you free. That Jehovah's word is the most powerful thing in the universe.
BUT yet, Satan is sooo powerful that you can't even listen to an apostate because you could be poisoned so quickly. So what is it? Who's information is more powerful - Satan's or Jehovah's?
Irony is I always thought fact was fact. Would you be afraid of listening to someone try convince you that gravity doesn't exist? No...because fact is fact, truth is truth. Curious that "the JW truth" is so susceptible to being disproved!

LETS GET SMART: "What parts of science that go against your religious beliefs you DONT AGREE WITH"
by cyberjesus inso, many in here disagree with many aspects of science because they go against their own personal beliefs.
so lets all get smarter here and do some research.
if you have something that you dont agree with science because it goes against what your religion tell us and lets all do some research about it.. if we cant find any evidence of it we will switch to disagree with science.

SBC: Just watched "Instruction Manual for Life" again. I now remember having seen it before but didn't notice it was done by QualiaSoup and his brother (who was unknown to me until now). Very cool stuff. They do great work...let's spread it around.

The Church accepted the theory of geocentricity ( SP?) when it was proven and not just a speculation
PS...I think you meant heliocentricity was proven. Geocentrism was the ancient belief that the earth is at the centre of the universe. Heliocentricity is what we now know...the sun is at the centre of our solar system and the earth revolves around that.
Oddly enough, there are still some groups that believe in geocentrism. Though I'm never too surprised by what humans can delude themselves with.
CJ and SweetBaby: much agreed on QualiaSoup videos. They are all excellent...especially the 'Putting Faith in its Place' one.

For the benefit of the minority in here (*cough* debator)...check out this amazing video: Paleogeographic views of earth's history provided by Ron Blakey, Professor of Geology, Northern Arizona University.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGcDed4xVD4&feature=relatedThis is what biogeography is all about. Already mentioned before but needs to be again. A great example of this is the lemurs in Madagascar - the only place on the planet they exist. Let's consider two explanations of this...
1) If evolution were true, this is EXACTLY what you would expect to see. Madagascar wasn't always an island, but it did become one millions of years ago. Not only an island in a geographic sense, but it also could be considered an "island" when it comes to the gene pool. Lemurs evolved over millions of years, cut off in its own gene pool island, from a common shared ancestor of modern monkeys. Hence we have lemurs and are unique ONLY to Madagascar and no where else on the planet.
2) If the bible were true, there was a global flood sometime in the past 10,000 years. We know for a fact that Madagascar has been an island for millions of years. So how did lemurs end up ONLY in Madagascar? When Noah's ark finally settled somewhere (say Mt. Ararat) and all the animals dispersed - how did the lemurs even get to the island of Madagascar? Did every single one of them hike (and swim apparently) directly to Madagascar without one being left behind? Did god give them a map and direct orders to get thee to Madagascar pronto? The same questions apply to kangaroos in Australia, kakapo parrot only in New Zealand or even no native land mammals at all in New Zealand. These are just a few examples but there are thousands like this on our planet.
In order to continue to believe the bible story, it is neccessary to completely ignore such evidence and reason. Creationists simply pretend the evidence doesn't exist. As mentioned before, there has not been one offered argument from a creationist that can refute this evidence. Not Answers in Genesis, not the Discovery Institute and certainly not the Watchtower.

Debator...please consider your source of information. In this thread you've been supplied with irrefutiable facts that stand up to any scrutiny of research you could apply without bias. When other creationists are your only source of information you will not get an unbiased viewpoint.
From the comments on this thread I'd assume most of us in here have scoured BOTH sides of argument. After all, at one point, it seems the majority in here were once creationists. Having scoured the other sources of information outside of the bible view, the only conclusion to make is that clearly evolution is a fact. I encourage you to do the same.
If you only went to a Ford dealer to find out about GM vehicles...what do you think the result would be? Ford wants your money, they would not persuade you to buy GM. The "talking snake" religions of today were born out of population control. It has also grown into big, big business. Tax exemption + mass following = money, money, money. They would not persuade you away from their ideology. Surely you can see how one side is clearly interested in controlling you and misinforming you.
I know when someone believes it comes from a deep-seated need to believe. But good luck to you and I hope you free yourself one day.

Debator is displaying the typical behavoir you can expect from a bible believer resisting science. They keep spewing out the same comments over and over, but completely ignore the evidence placed directly in front of them. They love the fossil record and think it is full of holes but the reality is that isn't true.
Besides, as mentioned on the first page of this thread, the strongest evidence for evolution isn't even the fossil record. Interesting you don't hear arguments against the evidence from say biogeography. Jerry Coyne wrote that the evidence from biogeography for evolution is so strong he has never seen one attempted creationist argument to dispute it. They don't touch it because they don't have an answer for it.
Basically, biogeography is regarding the distribution of life on this planet. Example, the only place lemurs exist are in Madgascar. So the question is if your a creationist is: every single lemur made a direct march down to Madagascar from Noah's Ark after the flood, not one single lemur stopped anywhere else, or even left a single trace of themselves? Same goes with kangaroos...every single one made their way down to Australia? Why are there no native land mammals anywhere in New Zealand?
The bible story does not jive with these facts. (Nevermind the fact that a global flood never happened anyways.) But what does explain the distribution of life on this planet is tectonic plates and 'continental drift'. The continents took millions of years to 'drift' to their current layout and are still moving. The continents didn't speed to their current layout over the few thousand years since the mythical flood.
