Twitch...yes you are right.
Just saying that trolls do what they do solely for reactions. If they don't get reactions, they go away.

JW's not a cult
by Lunatic Faith inokay, before you fly off the handle--i wrote a blog on how my research proves jw's are a cult (no, i haven't read the cult book yet).
somebody linked their own findings onto my site saying the opposite.
their evidence is erroneous and as i don't have time to point this out i thought i would let you all do it for me.. www.epages.wordpress.com.

New watchtower
by bohm inthe new watchtower is out (woooo) http://www.jw.org/ , and there is an article about "prophecies which has come true".
the most funny one is the one about earthquakes since, well, there just isnt an increase in earthquakes:.
what do the facts show?

Interesting through that entire article they repeat "WHAT IS A COMMON OBJECTION?"
Where are they getting these "common objections"? Not from current JWs. In field service? Do people at the door really commonly respond with "earthquakes aren't more frequent, we're just more aware of them?"
I doubt it. Seems to me they are completely paranoid of simple logic, and are trying to get ahead of anyone who might actually think critically.

Why even bother addressing this Spade character? Spade is the definition of a troll.

I'll second elderlite's response...but in past tense:
As someone who HAS walked away from the JW religion, I HAVE lost family and friends and been shunned... so I can clearly say, without hesitation or reservation..
It is, for sure and for certain, a goddamn cult.

Why does the sun burn my eyes?
by sabastious inthe sun is impossible to look at too long before permanent eye damage is caused.
after the eye was fully evolved in whatever creature it formed first on was unable to look at the sun.
why did natural selection ignore what rightly cannot be ignored?

And when the sun eventually blows itself apart as a supernova no amount of sunscreen or the even best Ray Bans will help. If anyone is left to try.

Did we sign our cosmic death certificates when we put a hole in the ozone layer?
by sabastious ini think about the hole in the ozone layer sometimes and it freaks me out.
does anyone have any words of encouragement on this matter?
i'll see if i can find some too.. -sab.

Whatever happened to all the ozone layer hubbub? Think it was the late 80s when that all broke, and even using aerosol sprays was frowned on. Anyone else remember that?
The problem, of course, hasn't gone away. Apparently Australia has it worst. Just curious why it isn't so front and center anymore.

Meteorite 'could have carried nitrogen to Earth'
by unshackled ininteresting article from bbc news today, posted the text below but here is the direct link:.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12597564?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter .
this is not a dramatically "new" discovery (this has been hypothesized before) but the findings from this actual meteorite are pretty cool.

Could amino acids survive what would be a massive meteor crash into earth? Another interesting question that has been explored.
This article details how US and European researchers replicated such a scenario. The result was some amino acids do survive.

I guess you could say that Sun Glasses are part of our evolution and solved the problem of the sun being too bright.
Well that is a good point. I wonder if our eyes actually will become more "sun resistant". We, at our current state, spend most of our time indoors...well most of us. There was a time when we were out in the elements and sun a greater majority of our days. At some point we discovered shelters, caves...then built shelters, houses. If anything, our eyes are far less exposed to the sun in our modern world.
This is an interesting short article that relates: What's Next for Human Evolution?
It points out that..."1. Evolution does not imply progress.
There is so much misunderstanding about what evolution means. The first thing to remember is that evolution does not lead to better organisms." -

Your description of Evolution is as cold as ice.
Ha...okay I'll work on dressing it up a bit. But really...the points I was trying to offer were:
1) why would we assume we should be able to look at the sun NOW? Maybe we're STILL in the process of developing "better" eyes. Doesn't mean, as you said, natural selection ignored what rightly cannot be ignored.
2) natural selection doesn't neccassarily work in a straight line, molding and forming a perfect species. What is our current whale started in the water, went to land, and then BACK to the water again. We know this because whales still have visages of their leg bones.
