This news may make me appear turgid in pants. But it's the pleats...the pleats in the pants.

Currently, I'm "hardcore atheist" (aka militant?) when it comes to the personal omni-gods of theism but, uh, softcore agnostic about deistic/pantheistic concepts.
Agreed. This is an important distinction, Cheez. If someone asks "do you believe in god?" the first question back should be what type of god? Theism - god of the bible? Aw, hell no. Deism or pantheism? Maybe, but who can know and further why bother.
Secular humanism...IMO therein lies our hope for us crazy mammals to prosper on this rock long into the future. Or at least until the end of Mad Men season 5.

Do demons really exist?
by Inisc ini mean, is there really any scientific evidence to support their existence?.
is it used as a scare tactic of thewts?.
and i suppose if one doesn't believe in god, a belief in satan and demons and angels for that matter would be contradictory... im not sure what i believe now but would love to hear everyone's thoughts..

I remember a demon experience from childhood. It was shortly after bedtime when a lego flew out of my dark closet. Then another. I panicked, wrought with fear, for I knew these were the demons we'd been warned about. So pulled out the secret weapon - "jehovah!". Another lego. So then the big guns - a trifecta of "jehovahs!". Still yet another lego. These are some damn brazen demons. But a few seconds later a snicker...then outright giggling. Demons giggle?
No, they don't, because they don't exist. But my older brother does. That sumbitch.
If we're capable of conjuring up terrifying monsters in childhood, why shouldn't some of us, at least on occasion, be able to fantasize something similar, something truly horrifying, a shared delusion, as adults? — Carl Sagan

What has or would motivate you to attend an Ex-JW meet up...
by Tuesday ini just wanted to get a general consensus of what are the motivations to attend an ex-jw meet up.
if you've already attended one before, what motivated you the first time or each successive time?
if you've never attended an ex-jw meet up before what do you think could motivate you to attend one?.

IS GOD REAL? HOW DO YOU KNOW?
by still thinking inthis is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.
in fact, it was a turning point for me.

What type of god?
Theism: bible/jesus/koran//mohammed/joseph smith/magic gonch/blah blah...no, I do not believe any of that tripe is real. If it is, we're all in a turkish prison shower digging our soap from the drain. (Aka, f*cked)
Deism/pandeism: maybe/maybe not..but unlikely. There is no point invoking unknowable, unprovable, fanciful ideas. We can observe the physical universe and that's all we know for now. We are here.
My nutshell: embrace the unknown and live this one life to its fullest.

I really don't want this to be true, for my purpose in life will be lost. Sooo...watermelon? Cotton candy? Large ball of whipping cream?

How Did You View The Elders?
by minimus ini know some who truly believed they were "gifts in men".
they needed their approval and wanted to be well spoken of by them.. i know some who can't stand elders and regard them as pests, always looking for some dirt on somebody.. i know some who liked maybe one or two but regarded the majority as unqualified.. how did you view the elders??

Misreads ox goad as ox gord, then talks about how Jehovah's spirit must have been involved for a man to kill 600 Philistines with a vegetable.
Oh my gord, that's a good one.
I recall Bro Burgundy, who had an affinity for scotch and ribs, in concluding prayer slipping up by not saying Amen and instead said "go f*ck yourself San Diego".
