On a Scale of 1 to 10---How Devoted Were You To Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inas i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.

dipped at 14 to please parents and peer pressure.
pioneering at 16. MS at 18.
I never believed in god. but liked the adulation from the audience in the many talks i performed. i guess a 3. but i was a total fraud.
quit at 23. ---so a 0 by then----- but occasionally attended cmeetings/assemblies to please the wife.
we divorced in early 1981--and that was that.
now it totally baffles me why anyone with any intelligence could possibly stay in the cult--other than fear of losing family. what a crock of sh1t.

I am having trouble believing in God...
by thedepressedsoul ini was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.

i never believed in god--at least--not since adulthood. but if its what you need--believe in it. doesnt make you better--or worse--unless you try to preach it to me--then i just switch off.

My Judicial Meeting was 6 WEEKS ago! Help me with a question.
by Comatose inmy judicial meeting was 6 weeks or more ago, and still no action.
i used a lawyer and a letter to them after i had already met with them and admitted everything.
the crazy part was they didn't tell me that night if i was df or not.

might as well face facts. if you did something carrying the df penalty--and you arent repentent--then you got it coming.
your elders wont give a shit about the repercussions in your life--they will say its your own fault.
so--plan B time i imagine--damage limitation

I did window cleaning in my teens, worked two days a week, pioneered, ran a car and had beer money. All on two days a week work, and they were short days !
phizzy--i think you and i were the same person !! bloody cold up a ladder in december though.
i think us window-cleaner pioneers deserve a little more respect in the xj community !!
