i had resigned from the religion by 1973: amongst other reasons i totally rejected the 1975 hype.
late in 1974 an elder was despatched to try to get me back, to bolster the pressure from my ( then ) jw wife.
he was making some progress, when he totally blew it:
he told me he had bought a car on hire purchase because he would never have to make any payments after autumn 1975.
i understand this guy is now a circuit servant!

i just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.
i was at twickers in 63, didn't we all doss down in large "all male " tents in piles of straw? & weren't the latrines something?

ive been fortunate to have met several UK members, having written to them previously through exjw-reunited.co.uk.
i certainly do care for them, and anyone else whose lives have been distorted by the religion.
what is amazing at meetups, is friendship is accelerated by the fact we know a bit about each other beforehand, & exchanging phone numbers, when asked for,
means a friend is there when a chat is needed.

im very new here and i need a little help.. im not a witness, but i know all of the quirks and rules and whatnot because my long-distance boyfriend is a witness.
the issue, other than the obvious, is that i fell in love with him before he told me he was one of jehovahs witnesses.

i've been married to the same wonderful woman for 37 years.
she's been a jehovah's witness for 33 of those years, i am not.
i studied with the wbts for a couple of years beginning late 1974 before deciding it wasn't for me.

why make this an issue, we both know marriage is about compromise
does the nephew know the "rules"--is he making an issue out of it?
if i were in your shoes, i'd meet with your nephew--without your wife there: if they are happy with that, why make a rod for your own back.
