bumped for James S to see
i'm james i'm new to this forum as of today and i'm a ex-jw who was "born into the truth" and then left it officially at the age of twenty after "drifting out" of it for some time.
i'm now 34 and whilst i'm not exactly happy with the world i'm living in, i'm largely happy with my own life.. one question i've got about this forum - i didn't join for a long time because i thought it was for active jw's (based on the web-site url), not ex jw's, but then looking at the threads, it seems it is more for ex-jw's!
what is the demographic for the membership?
hi James S, good to have you here---i too found the site title confusing & wouldnt read any of it, till Cantleave put mr right.
i'm on the I o Wight, & have met the above 2 at ex get togethers.
ive bumped a thread i started a while back with lots of UK members listed.
this is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end!
(after the story, there are some very interesting facts!
the class was asked to go!
breakfast at MacDonalds--i'm in heaven!
so we lost our religion and its time for us to decide which religion to switch, i was sincere so i wanted to do his will as i was taught.... so many here still believe in god and christianity.
so my question for you is.
what makes you think that christianity is the true religion?
thats easy---all of them
god only exists in a persons mind--so whatever church that person may feel compelled to attend, his god will be there, waiting to add to his burden.
will there be an announcment on the world news saying " a great tribulation has begun in the world" or will the gb send a letter to all the kh's to scare the piss out of everybody saying "we the gb being gods chosen channel of communication have decided that the world's situation seems dire and are pleased to tell you that the great tribulation has started!".
obviously the world has been in a great tribulation since the time of jesus.
great tribulation does not mean some event that has to happen all at once all of a sudden.
no
i think there will be a massive deafening fart from the sky--then we will know we are all in it
has the watchtower ever rationalized their obsession with depilation or claimed there was a biblical basis for banning beards, or is it simply because jehovah's corporation/faithful and discrete slave says so?.
i thought jehovah had a beard---
"An issue could be made of females and the expectation not to wear pants in fs or at meetings."
do you mean knickers?
we're visiting my jw mum today for the first time since the df'ing.
i have put it off for months but we have to bite the bullet at some point and my dad has phoned to ask us to come today.
it doesn't bode well as she has put her back out and is a little grumpy today but my dad has asked so i don't want to let him down.. .
certainly will wish you the best for this day.--let me know how you get on--message me on FB if you cant post on here---malc xxxxx
so, why do you post here?.
do you post here because you are currently trapped in the jw's?.
do you post here to help those currently trapped?.
i post here because i am a member & i beleive it confers the privilege.
i need to keep up to speed on the developements in the watchtower society , so i might be in a position to help my trapped family if & when they wake up and leave:---one son now out, another son & daughter to go. i live in hope: it keeps me going.
just a brief introduction, i thought i would try out one of the more established forums, have done some stuff on youtube and other places but thought i would give this a try.. potted history: raised jw by mother, in it for 30 years or so, baptised at age 18, regular pioneer at 20, ms a couple years later, mts at 26 and got assignment to a new cong, elder at around 29, came off pioneering around 31, came off as elder around 32, started to slowly wind down, completely stopped attending about 3 years ago, disassociated dec 2010. pause for breath.. the last 5 years or so have been a painfully gradual process of deconstructing myself and then piecing together fragments of my shattered life that are still valid outside the organisation.
the question 'who am i?
' has been a continual investigation; every day for the first couple of years i would realise another subject or issue that i didn't have my own opinions about.
hello millions---i'm on the Isle of Wight, ive just bumped a thread about UK members for you to see.
welcome to the site!
