How do i overcome this guilt and fear?
by newcomer1982 inive recently decided not to be a witness anymore and at the age of 28 was still so afraid to tell my parents.
the truth is their life and knew i would hurt them.
ive had such a battle with the elders and because my dad is an elder its even worse.

my parents didnt shun me--my dad is 90--still an active JW--but we are very close in life--not in religion.
why should your decision affect things between them & your child---if it does its THEIR decision
as regards your child dying at armageddon--WHY?---just because some spiteful all powerful deity can?
try atheism for a while--see if it improves your life or not.

There is one way to save the JW religion
by cptkirk instop referring to it as "the truth".. "the world" is not going to turn on you because you are all great shining examples of human beings.
if "the world" turns on you, it's because you are a dangerous cult.. taze russell and rutherford were both nuts.
but "the light gets brighter"...the light was already bright, it's called the christian greek scriptures.

here--on the isle of wight--so far we have not experienced any mass rioting.
however, a local deprived youth--dressed in his designer hoodie---felt compelled with what he saw on his expensive i-phone--to act in solidarity with his fellow co--yobs.
he burnt his detatched 4 bedroom house down
tonight he's being comfiorted by his parents.

i'm glad to say i havent looked at any watchtower materiel in over 30 years. so i cant honestly comment about quotations from long forgotten publications.
however--anthing that exposes the stupid nonsense or changes of direction that this religious scam dispenses--only serves to convince would-be apostates that JW dom is in no-way inspired by god.

What Actually Made You Leave The Organization?

i took the course of fading and it's worked pretty well for me.
after i saw sooooo many silly rules being enforced, i needed to get out!.

how prevalent do you think this attitude is?
by cptkirk inpeople in congregations around the country (world - i have no idea what goes on in other countries with the jws) staying in the borg for all kinds of backwards reasons?
how prevalent %% wise do you think this is?
for example people manifesting "fear of man", fear of being ridiculed by members for leaving, or family reasons, or just to much stock in the organization to take the loss connected with leaving....all of whom really no longer believe the faith the way it's presented?

example--my 90 year old jw dad--been in 50+ years---continued close ties with me since i left 30+ years ago----yet he says he wont talk to his grandson--age 35 ( my son )--who was df 2 years back.
my never jw (3rd) wife cant understand this.. .

my first wife ( above sons mother)--born in /devout---wont talk to her own son--
i cant imagine what his new partner must think of this--especially as she acts as a go-between to help with child access.
this pointless shunning crap just causes family problems--it solves nothing.
