turnbull was d/f for getting involved with another woman--simple as that. (mea culpa on that score ). my inlaws knew him and his wife quite well, they were the kind that used to suck up to the elite.

Hello to everyone - new member from Scotland - just registered and wanted to introduce myself

it's nice to finally be able to say hello to you all, having been a long time reader of the forum.. i put off signing up as i didn't feel i had much to contribute, but if i'm honest, seeing atlantis' post about confidential information pushed me into it.. i hope i can get round to writing my story - i always enjoy reading others and it never ceases to amaze me how many have had similar experiences.. so there goes my first post!.

my late mother told me:
twickenham--london UK the early 60's.
the womens toilets were tent latrines with a wooden seat over a bucket--which some volunteer had to remove from the back/beneath.
mother reluctantly used the facility--not just for a pee.
at the precise moment nature took its course--the bucket was yanked away for servicing.
i think she sh4t herself.

UK & IRELAND MAP
by ballistic ini had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).
(and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).
anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

When you become a CO, you hand over everything. You have nothing but a suitcase. It is rare for a CO to be super rich, so there is no money for a mortgage etc. So no house of your own, no car of your own, no income of your own, no privacy, no nothing !!!
really?? hand over--what?--to who?
the Co's & Do's i met--back in the 60's---all seemed well connected--often their wives were very well dressed--and came from very comfortable families--to where they returned on sunday evenings at the end of the visit--till the next visit on the tuesday.

Who cares about 2014
by konceptual99 ini keep seeing posts expressing a view that 2014 is going to trigger a significant increase in unrest amongst witnesses as it's 100 years since 1914. there has also been some suggestions that the society will have to publish something to head this off at the pass.
i can understand why this might seem a reasonable view but i am not hearing any discontent about the date amongst anyone i know.. my impression is that the significance of a 100 year anniversary of 1914 is of more import to those that have left the organisation and those already questioning things than it is to the average dub.. i also suspect that the society will not do anything that may raise the profile of 100 years passing.
much more likely is more subtle messages such as the one in the jan magazine about "false alarms".

theres probably enough members on here who still attend their local kingdumb hall to ignite a nice little rumour fire.
maybe a co-ordinated effort would fan the flames a bit quicker.

There was a DO in the UK who was DF'd back in the 60's or 70's. Name of Turnbull.
As I recall he'd legged it with a lady. They confessed what they'd done and admitted that they knew they would be DF'd but decided to carry on and eventually hope to be re-instated.
The JC gave them a minimum of 10 years before any application would be heard. Don't know if that's what happened though.
Last I heard he was back in and oop North.
you beat me to it. i remember this--the rumours that flew were hilarious--like KNORR flew over and d/f'd turnbull personally. ha ha.
i understand ( told directly by the circ at the time )--that Doug was by then "just a publisher" in the tamworth cong--and owned a laundrette. i had heard he did a TV interview.
i wonder if hes on here?
