it's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?
I have to agree with everyone who has posted.
I think they ended the book study for liability reasons and also because the didnt want the witnesses to meet in small groups to discuss so they can monitor what they do.Child molestation reasons, and also to keep everything in the opened.
i've heard that another 2 people have left the "truth" as soon as they could get out.
both girls were elder's daughters.
they aren't elders now because they were somewhat problem teens.
This news makes me very happy. I WISH I would have left JW's when I was 17. I really am happy that the internet is making so many young people wake up to what this whole 'Jehovah's Witness' thing actually is.
i was last affiliated with a minneapolis area congregation a few years back.
we saw prince and the larry graham entourage at a sunday meeting once and at many assemblies and conventions.
i know he was affiliated with a congregation in a city named chanhassen at one time.
This whole thread is just lol.
I would see the brothers making an exception to Prince and Larry Graham. I really do like both of their music, but I can see that when you have money and popularity and fame the watchtower and congregation makes exceptions. Its really just sicken. Goes to show you how fake the organization is. Whats to be said that hasnt already been said.
And yes, Prince's music did get worse when he became a Jehovah's Witness, although I still do like some of his music. Goes to show you watch Jehovah's holy spirit does to people.
i can't believe i used to worship such a horrid deity.

if you disagree even after leaving, there is no way to explain away these commands/laws/ condoning actions of this disgusting man made god.. exodus 21:2-6. leviticus 25:44-46. exodus 21:7-11. proverbs 29:21. proverbs 29:19. zechariah 13:7-9 .

in the dec.15th jw only version in an article titled " do not let illness rob you of joy " it promotes being a martyr in jehovah's witnesses preaching door to door in spite of debilitating and often life threatening illnesses .
ask yourself if jesus would have stood with a whip to the back of his disciples if they had these illnesses or medical conditions ??.
under the subheading entitled " they keep preaching despite chronic illness " with pictures of these alleged sick people sharing how they " sacrifice " to spread the wt society's message i will share the quotes with my takes.. izabella who suffers depression states, " i like the door to door ministry , but when i am not feeling up to it , i engage in telephone witnessing.
I swear the watchtowers keep get worse and worse with every issue they print.

i had a dream last night that i went to a meeting.
the speaker announced we were going to sing the "we're jehovah's witnesses" song, to which i said an audible "dear god" which got a bunch of dirty looks from other people sitting by me.
so now i'm awake, sipping my coffee, and i have "we're jehovah's witnesses" stuck in my head.
Its so hard to get those things out of your head! The most annoying thing ever. All these years. Its so hard to get it out. Mind controlling songs!

i know there's really no way to tell who has the highest or lowest iq of those on the current governing body or even who exhibits more thinking ability or more knowledge of wt bs.
but many of you have heard talks from these clowns at district assemblies throughout the us and abroad over the years... others here have seen the 2010 dvd "faith in action" or have seen youtube videos of gb members dispensing meat in due season... so i'm curious to know what your personal assessmenment is of the 7 stooges currently living in brooklyn heights.... here's my personal assessment... (from dumbest to least dumb).

The thing that scares me most about the current GB, is that they know the history behind the organization, and they knowwaaaaaay more then the average JW's does. Yet there committed to it. Thats why when my parents talk about following the bible, it goes in one ear, and comes right out of the other.
