They sometimes do. They also condemn all worldly literature as coming from Satan. And when you do find out that something's not right, you are to shut up or get disfellowshipped. Most witnesses don't have the time or energy to do research outside of the WTS treadmill.

JWs always deny the information control
by AuntBee inan active witness on fb just told me that they are taught to "always question what we are taught" and use not only the wt publications, but any research materials, and come to a conclusion about what they find!
this is not what i've heard from you guys!
does she go to some unusual-type kingdom hall, or is she mesing with my mind?.

Watchtower 2011 July 15 Study Edition: Are all study editions like this?
by Tuber inso during my research on the wts, i stubled across a link to the july 15th watchtower.. .
http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/w_e_20110715.pdf.
i'm assuming that the study editions are the ones that they only give to members/ those who attend meetings.. .

The funny thing is that witnesses always believe that persecution only strengthens them, but it doesn't if you look at the yearbook about Armenia. In the end there were only a handful left and they didn't practice. And especially the current crop of JWs, I don't see many of them lasting under real persecution.
I'm all for freedom of individual belief.. but I wish there were some rules regulating the power that organized religion can use on their followers. There should be limits.

My neice claims she knows the solution to cancer and growing old ....
by troubled mind inlet us all rejoice .
help i think my eyes balls are stuck after they rolled so hard when i read her facebook post .. she commented on a mutual friends post .
the other person was stating how she didn't understand pythagorean theorem ,but would be sure to put it on her to do list along with curing cancer (she is a biology student ).......that is when my neice posted, " i know the solution to cancer and aging but not so sure about the pythagoren theorem.......".

The solution is to die while believing that a man who lives in the sky will then transport you to happyland where there are no problems and everybody has their own pet lion. Tada! Now all those silly scientists can concentrate on real problems, like women wearing pantsuits.

The JWs are imperfect, so what?
by Rocky_Girl inthis is a common reply to any evidence given about false doctrines taught by the witnesses.. we all know that every religion has its faults and scandals.
so why do we tolerate these imperfections in those faiths and not in the witnesses?.
my answer: because other faiths admit that they are basing their doctrines on faith alone or tradition.

Imperfection, sure. Telling 7 million people to die for your imperfect doctrine or face disfellowshipping? That's more than just imperfection.

I'm new here..... Studying with the Witnesses
by PenelopePaige inhi- i just wanted to say that i have been checking the website out for a few weeks and have read some horror stories and some sad ones.
but i have been studying with witnessess for about six months and can't help but feel that they're completely sincere and maybe even, the true religion.
i love the watchtower and awake and to me, none of that seems crazy.

Concerned JW: I'm going to send you a PM because I don't want to derail this thread.

I think it's kinda hypocritical to come barging in here and call us all one-sided liars whilst you have not brought up even one so-called lie and gave evidence as to why we are wrong about anything. Stop your ad-hominem attacks and emotional appeals and start debating with proper arguments.
You still haven't answered my question about imperfect men requiring their followers to either obey and die or disobey and get shunned. If they know they could be wrong, why do they require their followers to die or get disfellowshipped?

I'm scared sometimes that the WTBTS might be right about everything.
by Chemical Emotions ini wake up thinking: what if my boyfriend and i die a terrifying death during armageddon?
with no hope of any life afterwards?.
do any of you ever feel that way?.
-
the-illuminator81
Chemical Emotions, even if you are right, think about it. It's like Jesus is standing next to you with a gun, saying "You better start worshipping me, because am going to pull the trigger any minute now!" Even if it were true, do you want to worship someone like that?

Concerned JW, you say this site is very one-sided. But what about the bible study that penelope is following? Or the kingdom hall? They are even more one-sided.
And please when you say my statements are a lie, pick one and prove its a lie. You can't.
And if JW's don't claim to be perfect, why do they make people give up their lives for their imperfect doctrine? Don't they care about people dying when they could be wrong?

It's been 12 years since the release of the 'Daniel' book
by truthseeker init was the summer of 1999. there i was sitting at the assembly when the speaker announces a new publication -daniel's prophecy or something like that.. there were a lot of eager dubs waiting to get their hands on that book.
we might learn the identity of the "king of the north"!
that's what i wanted to read, though in fact all the society had to say about that was "we are wise not to speculate".. looking back, it seems like this was the last book to properly address the end times prophecies - i didn't feel that way with the isaiah books, they simply regurgitated old stuff and made the anointed fit into every prophecy isaiah ever uttered.. it seems like the organization has gone on auto pilot, cutting costs, lowering print output and providing "how to live and function in the organization" books.. .

Lately the books have been boring as hell, the last exciting book that came out was "The greatest man who ever lived." Now they replaced that with the lame "Come be my follower" book.. doesn't even compare.
