Hi Bucholz, just like you, i got out because i did too much bible reading and research and realized jehovah was a bloodthirsty murderer. I'm glad you're out! Now you can celebrate your freedom and find your true self.

I decided not to go back to the KH
by Bucholz inwell, as i mentioned before in one of my few other posts, i've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided it was time to face the facts and take action.. i was raised a jw (4th generation) and my parents were quite zealous when they got married.
mom was a regular pioneer and dad was a ms. i was the little jw 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10, was giving talks and serving as an attendant at the hall and at conventions at such an early age.
auxiliary pioneered whenever i could.

More on Saturday's drama: Endo-symbiotic theory mentioned not once but twice
by sir82 ini don't want to give a full synopsis of saturday's drama, for fear of inducing stupor among this thread's readers, but.... .
the drama deals with a jw family with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in various stages of rebellion against all things jw.. the older brother is one of the "rebels", while the younger brother is a thoroughly annoying piece of brown-nosing crapola, completely buying into the jw mindset.. anyways, the younger brother is asking the older brother about why he doesn't want to attend the family study any more.. the older kid's rambling answer touches on something along the lines of "i'm learning things in school about how life really came here.
it's not as simple as you think!".

BTW research is something the average JW is totally not going to spend any time on. They're already much too tired to even consider spending more time on 'researching' something else than the required magic marking of the watchtower.

Junebug please be aware that your husband's view on things can change any moment. He might be OK on something like getting a christmas tree, until he attends the district convention and gets sucked into the cult more and suddenly it's not OK anymore. He is not his own person, he will be a slave to an organization, a puppet that you can't trust.

Office Space - My answer to all things JW
by lepermessiah inso..... i bumped into an old jw aquaintance who actually asked me if i enjoyed the assembly.. when i said i did not attend - they asked me why i missed it...... i said "well, i can't say i missed it, bob!
" (knowing he had seen the movie office space - when it was r rated!!).
he just looked at me dumbfounded and changed the subject......haha... i'm waiting for an old elder to come by and tell me that they miss me at the meeting........... i love their "fishing" approach!

It's the best way to deal with them. Be brutally honest.
"Oh that.. yeah I don't really believe in fairytales anymore."

Mentioning that theory just adds it to the thought-stopping list. Something else you don't have to think about anymore, the GB already did it for you.

WontLeave: Just tell them that using jargon makes them look like a cult and that's why you don't use it.

Oh junebug, please also read:
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/quotes/women-submission.php
Some highlights:
"Such a wife is careful not to undermine her husband’s headship by nagging him or arguing with him."
"Being exemplary in a supportive role may be a challenge for a wife when her husband makes a decision she disagrees with. Even then, she manifests a “quiet and mild spirit” and cooperates with him to make his decision work."
"Before studying the Bible, I didn't think that my husband ought to be the head of the family. I liked to make many decisions on my own."
