Serenity - I agree that most black people, at least the ones I know, do not agree with this kind of talk. I hope you don't think that I was implying that.

Many here are saying the Glenn Beck has an agenda,of course he does we all do in our own way. I believe he truely loves this country and is afraid of the road we are on at this point in time. I have not heard him say anything like that in the Shabazz speach. If we don't agree with someone that is fine, we should say why and give a counter point. We should not personally attact them or call for them to be silenced. It does not foster growth, the sharing of ideas does.

How does a person move up in the WTS?

i guess i should have said, "how does a man move up" since they're a male-only ruling class.... what does it take to become an elder, and so on up?

i don't really think the mr. is in the running for any special titles, but just in case in the future something along these lines happens, how does the hierarchy work?

(probably not a true consideration, being that he's married to me, but hey, i'm sure stranger things have happened).. .

If Beck or any other white person were to say the exact thing that Sharpton said only replacing black with white it would be called "hate speach". They would be accused of inciting violence, and there would be calls to remove them from whatever platform/job they had so as not to be able to freely express themselves again. In answer to the treads intent, there is no comparison from the Beck rally, because contrary to liberal belief consivertives on the whole are not hate mongers, or racist. It was the consivertivs/republicans that fought to give Blacks the right to vote, and they passed the Equil Rights Amendment, over the objection of the liberals/democrats.

All these posts are so heart wrenching because they are so true. A few years ago when I was in but fading, I asked my elder dad why we don't do charitable works, his reply was "Jesus said "the poor will be with you always". This comming form a man who before he was a witless taught me to sacrfice whatever I could if someone was in need.

Beks - do you really mean that? You really wish we could figure out some kind of virus that would kill idiots and leave the rest of us?

Please tell me you were just frustrated when you said that. If you really mean that then please tell us who are the idiots? Are they those who you don't agree with? Please tell me you are not that intollerant. I enjoy most of your comments, even those I don't agree with but this one was not in good taste, sorry to say that.

When I was still in there was a very atractive girl that started studying with a sister and was attanding meetings. My best friend and I honestly were neve inetersted in her other than her being a witless. We never thought about asking her out or anything, however in her mind she was the only thing on every males mind. We would say hello to her and her standard responce would be - "I'm engaged". The first time was a shock, the second time was strange, the third time, was a decloration of war! Needless to say I had fun with that for about two months, until she was no longer engaged. One meeting we each said hello to her right after each other four times, and we got the same responce each time. It was so funny to watch the reaction of everyone around her everytime she would give that responce, especally around the seventh or eighth time.

About two years later I was married and my wife and her became friends and one night were were talking about "old times" and I told this story, and she tried to say it did not happen. However my mother and father were there (My dad's an elder) and they both told her that i was accurate in my story, the look on her face was pricless.

Why is it that crap like that are what we recall as good times in the WT?

i recently had an experience with my mother-in-law that really solidified what i had suspected about the jw claim to trust only in the bible.. my father-in-law was raised a witness, but never got baptized.

he eventually joined the army and served his country in vietnam.

after his tours of service he "came to his senses" and eventually got baptized as a jw.. fast forward to a few months ago.

That is ao on point, and you can see it way too often. Over religious people in general want someone else to make the decisions for them. I seems like they are banking that on judgment day all they will have to say is "I followed what my WT/preacher/rabbi/what ever, said and they will be covered.

Could you just imagine the conversation if they really did wind up in front of the Pearly Gates talking to St Peter?

They should review the same material in the Ministry School book as the elders, and in the Organized book, they should review chapters 6-8, along with pages I 17-119.

It will never end...

i'm gonna try and make this short.

my husband blocked all of my parents's numbers (home and cell) from calling our house.

he did because they were continuing to say and repeat stupid stuff and stressing me out further than what i'm already stressed and they're trying to suing the property management of our apartment to retrieve monies that we had agreed to repay them (the property manager called us about it).. hubby has had enough.

It is always a shame when conditional love shows its evil head, and that is one of the hardest things to deal with, especially within the family. Your husband did the right thing and even though your parents treat the both of you that way, I know that it was probably hard for him/you to do. From what little I read here, I find you to be a very kind and loving person, so taking this step is not an easy one. But I would say that he saw how much they were/are hurting you and he took a bold first step to protect you and the family. So kudos to him and to you.

On a side note, if you don't mind saying, how are you explaining this to the children, or are they still to young.

i work in pa at a fortune 500 co. the manager i currently have is lazy, has no backbone, and is completely incompetent!

this is not just my personal opinion either - it is a running 'joke' amongst the entire dept of this man's managerial skills (or lack thereof).

so much so that even the other managers will make comments about my manager inability to properly perform his job...so this is what i'm dealing with.. being a very straightforward person, i find that being upfront about issues/situations seems to make things easier.

And I would encourage you to compile your phone records, get a sworn statement from your BF, and collect all evidence from when he messed with your pay, and benefits. If you are able to provide that allong with your testamony they/he will see you mean business. Always cover your own bottom, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time.
