how to explain paranormal activities?

(i do know that's a horror movie title).

some of my friends have experienced "strange" things lately and many people does, so there has to be something, i think?.

I believe in them totally. I've seen them. Well i have seen some things that I guess it is just easier to call them ghosts. Never anything like the scarry movies, just strange sightings and feelings of someone/something there. I don't talk about it much as even my friends and family think i'm looney tunse- which I very well may be.

I have, on several occations, been walking in the woods or on a street and had conversations with someone I've passed, and when they say something "profound/strange" I've looked at them and they were not there. I know I'm nuts.

There have been other things too, but there you go.

i remember vaguely hearing about this bill, but i forgot about it.

apparently it passed, and a couple hip hop forums i've frequented in times past already got raided due to illegal file sharing.

I do find it interesting that the WT says there book/mags etc are free and that the distribution of them counts as charitable works. So if other sites distribute them for free, as their slaves do, why would it matter to them. They are reaching a much wider audience. Also if their message is so irrefutable would it not cause a large influx of converts to their org? - Yes, I'm being sarcastic

WT Going Online

it seems that the wt may be moving more and more to being online than printed(i know still years away).

but it occurred to me that if they get to sey 51% of material being recieved online then they can make changes in the books/articles and fewer people will notice.

this could prove to be a plus for them.. any thoughts?.

If you have kids who are being exposed to JW beliefs

it's becoming clearer and clearer that i need to muster some sort of strategy for countering the mr's indoctrination of the kids.

now some of these kids are stepkids, so that makes it a bit hairier.

but for our youngest, i will need to think about how to teach her other things too.

This may seen a bit harsh, and it would depend upon your childs ability to reason but you could try it. Drive by a playground and watch the children play, especilly young ones. Ask you child if she thinks they should die, because their parents aren't JW's. After the answer then ask if she is going to rejoice and celebrate when god kills them. Or does she think god is better than that, and will end up judging people by who they are and not be what church they go to. It will probably not make a deep impact but it will get her attention, and when they have it in another article, even glossed over the way they do, she will remember it.

WT Loyalist on Apostate sites!!!!!! My Vent

how can the posters who claim to be 100% loyal to the watchtower take themselves serious i mean you are on an apostate site!

that is not allowed, you have reasoned that it is okay for you to do this, therefore you are not 100% following the slave.

I agree with Black Sheep in that those who do venture onto this and other site often make themselves and the WT look stupid, if not even hateful. I also feel that this is the main reason the WT "forbids" coming here, they are afraid of what a witness will put out on the internet, more than they are afraid of what they might read.

There may be some who are here to find answers for themselves, but as many of us know when we find out that our whole belief system is wrong we want to defend it at all costs. So I say let them come

Watchtower is voice of Jehovah

i don't know how to copy and paste properly on here but i stopped research almost a year ago.

started reading a few things in magazines again cause my mom is harping on me about the new jan 2011 watchtower stating that jw's are only true religion.

then i found this quote in sept 15, 2010 wt page 13 para 8.

ls82 I'm sure most of us here can relate to what you are going through, I know I do. The fact that they get you so upset is part of their "plan". They indoctaronate their followers so fully that when you point out something so plain to see and they don't see it, it does two things. First it makes their followers feel that they are special and can see the "real truth" while we can't. Second, it frustrates us and they then try and use that frustration to convince us thet they are right and we need to change. Case in point when they have a doctrinal change you can ask if they made a mistake or did god? This argument can be short or go on for hours and will end up with the excuse that the WT is printed by men and men are imperfect so you can't blame god. But at the same time they are dirrected by god so you can't blame them. And in their mind that is normal.

Planning a Disney World Trip

i'm trying to find the best rates and times to go.

i was considering finding a larger group or even organizing a larger group.

if so, any pointers you'd like to share?.

February is a good time as in November, between Thanksgiving and Christmass as far as smaller crowds. One thing to be aware of though is that there is no real "slow time" for Disney. Disney is a bit pricy but when you stop and think about all that is included is is really not a bad price to pay. And they do have differing plans that do help a bit.

I wish I could be of more help but I do hope you make it as you and the family will love it.

Well, maybe all JW will heed this advice and stop having children. That would be a good thing for the children, so they won't have to suffer like many others did.

MrsJones - I know the feeling my elder dad (neither of us were born in he converted and then so did I) still tries to blame others for my not being a JW anymore. He would sometime say things like "You just don't want to be told what to do.", or other similar comments. I told him that I was just using the wisdom that he and my mother taught me to think for myself and to objectivly look at all sides of an issue and make the right dession. Ever since then my leaving was somebody elses fault. I think they insist on that so they can say they did everything right.

Wouldn't it be nice to be a fly on the wall on judgement day and here all the lame excuses they give for treating family so hatefuly?

JW's are not nice people

i cut and pasted the subject line from a comment made by one of this board's longtime members.

it got me wondering if this is the prevalent thinking in here.

for a very long time i believed that jw's and all fundamentalist christian folk are a cut above the norm.

For the most part I believe that they are nice people. Not anymore so than people from other faiths/non-faiths. Honestly most people want thebest for their family, a better life for their kids. Most don't wish harm on their neighbors.ost get upset when we hear about disasters abd tragidies etc. Most people are glad when we here good news, ie when the Chiliean miners were rescued.

I know there are people who do wish bad things on others, but I believe them to be in the minority, at least I hope they are. Some people are born hateful but most hateful people are taught to be that way. I believe, just my thought, that one reason so many JW, and folks for other high control religion, suffer from depression and mental illness in higher(per capita) numbers is that they are conflicted by their natural desire to love their fellow human and their indoctronation to hate their fellow human beings.

Yes I do , and yes I believe it is wrong. I try not to but I find myself doing it often. I feel guilt/regret afterward but I still find myself doing it. I am truly sorry but it is one on my many flaws. I am trying to correct it but as of yet not with much success.
