The !st century christians were known for EVANGELIZING . Thats how christianity was spread back then . Its historical , a fact. How did that spreading of christianity take place ???

What religious group does the same today ?? only one !!! and you all know who that is , BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT !!

a little hint - its not the born agains , catholics , protestants , or any other psuedo christian group .

ITS THE SAME GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO DONT GO TO WAR AND DONT HAVE A NATIONALISTIC FLAG IN THEIR CHURCH ( like most other phoney christians )

Marcus Scriptus - I am a former Catholic , all my relatives are Catholic, 3/4 of all the people I work with are Catholics , I also regularly converse with about 50 Catholics in my ministry on a regular basis every couple of weeks, I also meet on an average about 5 - 10 new Catholics every week. What I said in my post is REALITY. What you said in your reply was NOT REALITY.

It seems to me you are in some kind of dream world , imagining how you would like the average Catholic to be . I was just talking to a fellow workmate recently . When I asked him how was his recent sunday church service he went to he said, " well I listened to the priest , and dipped my fingers in the holy water and made the sign of the cross while I was leaving " , he said he tries to go every week ,but not always . No bible study , no knowledge of the scriptures ( he said his bible is buried somewhere in his house , he needs to find it.) Thats the extent of his worship .

You may fool other people , but you cant fool me . I have REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE of Catholics . You are in a dream world , out of touch with reality .

Marcus - thats wonderful that the NJB has the name of God in its old testament, but you stated some things that are not accurate :

1) "Its read and studied by most Catholics" , Marcus , Most Catholics do not study the bible , they just go to mass and give their money contribution and go home and wait for next sunday to do the same thing over again, and if you asked them , do you like the NJB, most would say " whats that ??"

2) "The reason for the divine name not appearing in other versions is in part due to the wide distribution of the NJB ", Marcus, the NJB has nothing to do with the removal of the divine name in other bibles, they have removed the name because of inaccurate translating, and because of BIAS, promoting the false trinity doctrine.

3) " God is regularly spoken of as Yahweh by Catholics" , Marcus , If you ask 100 Catholics ,what is Gods name ? probably 90 of them will answer Jesus. I know this for a fact because i have spoken to hundreds of Catholics about the name of God in my ministry and NOT ONE ever said its Yahweh. Also if its true Yahweh is so important to a Catholic , shouldnt the leader of the Catholics ,the Pope, be using the divine name throughout his discourses . He never does , probably afraid of causing confusion , since all Catholics believe Jesus is God .

IN CONCLUSION - its great that the NJB uses Yahwh, but please be a little more accurate when you talk about its influence on Catholics.

If Gods name is not used by his true christian followers, there is confusion . Thats why most translations do not use the name of God ( BIAS ). Why not ?? because they want to promote THE FALSE TEACHING OF THE TRINITY .

Jehovahs Witnesses may have been wrong to include the name of God in the NT , but as Jason Beduhn brings out on page 169 0f the book "truth in translation" - "Of course Jehovah also appears throughout the NWT old testament . In this case ,the NWT is the only accurate translation of the 9 we are comparing , since all of the other translations replace the personal name of God , in over 6000 passages.

page 179 of this same book brings out - " It may be that one day a Greek manuscript of some portion of the new testament will be found , lets say a particularly early one, that has the hebrew letters YHWH in some of the verses listed above. When that happens , when evidence is at hand , biblical researchers will have to give due consideration to the views held by the NWT editors.

What should be the TRUE CHRISTIANS view on Gods name ??

The lords prayer says it all "HALLOWED BE THY NAME" ( given 1st priority in the lords prayer )

I am proud to be apart of a group of people that TRULY apply that prayer of our lord. And no he wasnt praying to himself or 1/3 of himself ( rediculous trinity doctrine )

I would like to ask anyone on this site who knocks Beduhns book , truth in translaion, and knock the NWT , how do your qualifications as a bible translator compare to Beduhn's ? I notice on this site alot of anti NWT bias by bible translation amateurs. I just love his book because he exposes the bias in pseudo christianity today . As time goes on , one thing is proven to me more and more , the WTS has it right in most things ,if not all, as far as true christianity and bible translation.

The proper translation of John 1:1 is " the word was a God ". The NWT has the most accurate rendering of John 1:1. John was trying to help christians understand that Jesus was NOT MERELY THE MESSIAH , that is a special human being , as the jew expected their messiah to be . He was helping to clarify the identity of jesus. Read the book "truth in translation " , in the chapter "and the word was ....What?

THERE WAS NO POLLUTING OF THE NEW TESTAMENT BY ITS WRITERS !!!

All scripture is inspired of God . The only polluting is wrongly translating the new testament and introducing greek philosophy into it , such as the trinity and the immortal soul doctrines , both false doctrines of psuedo christianity .

Back in the 1st century christianity started with the jews. Without a doubt , they used the divine name to refer to God. Also , they taught the name of God to the gentiles when they came into the christian congregation. History shows us it was 1-2 hundred years later that the doctrine of the trinity was adopted into psuedo christianity.

Well the NWT does 2 things that is superior to other translations. They magnify the name of God and they don't show bias in the NWT to back the trinity , which most translations do . This works for me . I want to be as close to the 1st century christians as possible. The REAL christianity !!!

Yes its true Jw's showed bias with over inserting the name of God in the new test. but it doesn't bother me that much because they had good motives , to glorify the father, and to try to show the difference between the son and the father. What bothers me so much more is the bias in most other translations that try to twist the scriptures to prove the trinity or the equality of Jesus to his father. Jason Beduhns book showed how they translated with bias in his book " Truth in translation" , and basically showed the NWT is one of the best and most accurate translations.

Yes 3 mozzies, thanks for informing me on the other translations that use Gods name, this is very important . I still prefer the NWT . I think its the most accurate.

Yes i enjoy the NWT the best . As brought out in the book " Truth in translation", the NWT is the only translation that restores the divine name Jehovah to its rightful place in the old testament. Bringing glory to Jehovah is the most important role of the bible. Also the NWT eliminates the bias shown in other bibles which promotes the trinity , clearly a false doctrine that was adopted into christianity from the greeks by psuedo christians after the apostles died . I learned alot about this in Wikipedia .
