it's 27 degrees celsius today = about 35 in my flat, which is about 95 degf for the americans.. .
my friends in tx say it's been over 100 degf for about 2 months ... i don't have ac, but a fan on me .... .
how do you deal with the heat?.
In my little corner of British Columbia, it can easily hit 35+ on any given summer day when the heat really hits. 27 degrees is just nice and temperate to me, tal, so I have a hard time seeing what you're complaining about. It's nice to be near a lake though...

well, i moved out of home to study more and live a "evil" life as my parents call it of going to church to light a candle!

Sorry about what you're going through, Snowboarder. I'm afraid that you made a bit of a mistake there when you sent your parents links to these "apostate" websites which are, according to your mom, full of "lies". The problem is that JWs are under major mind control and they simply aren't going to listen to facts. You have to take a different approach. Many on this website have suggested that JWs on their way out read the book Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan to help deal with family still on the inside. You should give that a look.
I find it hilarious (sorry) that your mom was talking about her being so much older and wiser than you are. There are people here who are much older than your parents who have just started waking up only recently. Age and experience have little to do with it! It has more to do with a person's ability to be honest with themselves and face the fact that they may have been wrong about something they've believed for a long time.
I also find it interesting that your mom accuses you of sending her info that's full of lies and then she, in turn, tells you lies about the WTS herself. It is an established fact that the JWs preach that those who are not baptized are dead meat when the big A comes. JWs DO have contempt for those who are not among their own. The only difference lies in how strongly one adheres to various JW teachings as they are all individuals despite the WTS' attempts to folks of any and all individuality.
I have no idea whether there is any hope that can be held out for your parents. I, personally, don't bother with talking about the religion with my family and I won't until I see signs of them willing to question what they've accepted for most of their lives. Until then, it's pointless. I wish you better luck with that in the future anyway...

Don't think for a minute that all gents are totally into pantyhose/stockings. I sure as hell ain't. Sure, they have their time and place but given my druthers, I prefer to see an attractive lady with smooth, clean, bare legs thank you, especially when it's warm out. For me, stockings take the attractiveness quotient down a notch, regardless how well put together the rest of the package is. I don't care how attractive or stylish or how much of a fetish they are to some people, the pantyhose thing just doesn't do it for me. To all you ladies out there who refused to let elders tell you what to do when it comes to this, I salute you!

i joined this board 9 years ago today......i can't believe it's been that long.
i miss alot of the ones that were on here when i first joined: unclebruce, dr. jekyll, gumby, kw13, littletoe, xena, simplesally, dansk, bendrr, englishman, ozziepost, luna, brummie, juni, buttlight.......we had a lot of fun on the board but it's nice that there's alot of newbies on here too.......plus, i ain't the only old timer on here!

we had a letter read this afternoon after the watchtower study that said we had 54,408 auxillary pioneers in april and with the regular pioneers it totaled 64,855 in full time preaching in april.
57% of the publishers.. so my guess is that the co will come down hard on any congregation that didn't meet those numbers next april.. i think the 30 hour thing had it's desired effect.. hoser.
Can anything published by the WT$ be believed at all? I don't think so...

i am attending jw meetings for reasons that i will not, at this time, elaborate on, but i want to leave.
i have wanted to for awhile, for many reasons.

The fact that you've posted here already tells us something: that you're awake and thinking. Sure, everybody has to make their way at their own pace but don't leave it for too long or you might slowly start losing your mind. I'll agree that dealing with other JWs does tend to be sickening. In fact I found it to be downright depressing! There are plenty of things to learn here and plenty of people to learn from.
As Tammy said, the 10 post limit is a probationary measure and doesn't last for very long. As for the avatar thing: you have to go to http://en.gravatar.com/ and register there with the EXACT same email address that you used here.
