i don't know how i would have handled leaving the borg without that knowledge.. so thinking that got me to wondering, who here has not read them (or has read one but not the other), and how are you coping with exiting the borg?
did you get counseling?
I haven't read either of them... especially since I already have my own reasons for having left and for NEVER going back. I don't really need a book to tell me what I know in my own heart. I might read CCMC when I feel up to challenging my family on some issues later on. I might even read CoC later on too, just for the shits and giggles...

i learned about y'all in the second grade, and fell in love with your beautiful land.. my geography book was filled with pictures of your wheat fields, lakes, rivers, and smiling people.. one of the ancestors, an aunt of hank aaron, used to regale us with wonderful stories of her visits to your country: the cleanliness, the warmth and friendliness of the people, and the lack of overt racial prejudice.. later on, i read about the underground railroad.
my heart swelled with admiration and respect as i found out how your country welcomed fugitive slaves.. my resolve is to visit y'all one of these fine days and see for myself what i've been told.
my little jw daughter and her dad have been there, and they both agree that canada is a land of freedom and opportunity.. to the canucks on this here forum, i salute you, as you only reinforce what i've been told about y'all.
Another proud Canadian here. I live wayyy out here in the west; namely British Columbia (yes, same as OUTLAW). The mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers and whatever else here make this place feel like home to me. I live in such a beautiful part of the world and l'd hate to ever leave here. Some of the most wonderful places in the world (to me) are within a few hour's drive from my place in any direction. It's hard for me to imagine living anywhere else. Also, it's nice not to have to cough up hundreds of dollars to see a doctor or have to shop around for medical insurance. (hee hee hee)

The cruel irony in all this is that the words quoted above are little more than an empty promise if not an outright lie. There would be no warm welcome. There would be no party or celebration, just a lot of groveling and eating of dirt on the part of those who would want to return. Sure, I do enjoy a good rum to sip on every now and then. There has been a couple of occasions where my dad has brough back a nice bottle or two from Cuba and I really enjoyed drinking them straight. it's 27 degrees celsius today = about 35 in my flat, which is about 95 degf for the americans.. .
my friends in tx say it's been over 100 degf for about 2 months ... i don't have ac, but a fan on me .... .

Well, tal, I'll admit that humidity does play a part in things. It does tend to be rather dry where I am so high temps here don't bother me much. High humidity would prolly bug the hell outta me too. It makes so grateful for the technological miracle of AC.

Oh, yes... I most definitely agree on that. I've gotten some rather extreme reactions from others over my opinions and off-the-cuff statements every now and then where I never intended to "push", and that does bug me from time to time. I just need to keep growing a thicker skin, I suppose...

I've always been of the mind that if I express my opnions on various things, people can take it or leave it, especially here on this website. It bugs me when folks take me (or others) way too seriously and think that I'm pushing my opinions on them, that I'm completely unwilling to bend or accuse me of being a misogynist, racist, fundie or what have you. I just have my own opinions; so wat? People here tend to take themselves a little too seriously at times...
