i didn't want to hijack billy x's attempt at hijacking another thread directed to our apostate terrorist, reinna.
this is a parady that only ex jw's could possibly appreciate.
whether you appreciate my macabre sense of humor is entirely another matter.

Happy 1000th, EmptyInside. I hope it was good for you.

during sunday's program of the dc..."donations" came up and there was mention of using "debit and credit cards" wow!....
so i started thinking... we have an assembly hall in our town?
10 mins from where we have our conventions.
It also helps some of the single people scope out other congregations' gene pools for suitable mates.
Conventions are an epic fail when it comes to that, especially when it come to singles past their early twenties. Get a bunch of socially awkward individuals to mave their move in a distorted social setting? I don't think so!

all of us who have any ties to the jws know that they have their own vernacular, their own slang.
sure, there are formal titles that we can't really get away from: pioneer, ministerial servant, elder, ______ overseer, governing body, the (watchtower) society, etc.
but there are plenty of other bits of parlance they use that i can do without.... for example:.
Interesting posts so far...
The point I was trying to make with this thread was that we really can't be free of the bOrg until we stop using their vocabulary. Theirs is the language of slavery and I refuse to speak it anymore!
Now I'll respond to some of the more sincere posts here:
@blondie:
I forgot about the term excommunication in my OP. It really is the proper technical term. It's quite vile nonetheless...
@Mad Sweeney:
Yes, I acknowledge that many people here DO use the term APOSTATE as a badge of honour but it's not my cup of tea. It's THEIR word to define and stigmatize us. I refuse to bow to them...
@AwareBeing:
I feel bad for you that the memories are still so fresh. And yes, the change of language is important to freeing ourselves mentally. For better or worse, I have a memory like an elephant and there are just some things I'll never forget, even if I wanted to...
@GL Tirebiter:
Yes, that vile practice of DF IS used as emotional blackmail. I will not bow to it...
@Ding:
I couldn't agree with you more. That quote you posted is quite profound. Cults will try to twist language in accordance to their will...
@TotallyADD:
It's wonderful that you were standing up to the vile discrimination and hatred of mankind that the GB fosters even back then. I'm glad that you're free now...
@luna2:
It bears worth repeating: JWs and other cults use different vocabulary to set themselves apart and cut the "flock" off from the rest of the world. BLECH!
@breakfast of champions:
I agree that a marriage should be a partnership. Cults twist almost anything good in life to their self aggrandizing ideals. Headship Principle/Submission = Misogyny
@Scully:
Experience: Way different usage than is common in non JW circles. Better to use the word Reenactment...
I'm thinking the better word to use is Fabrication.
LOL! I guess that you got me there. The veracity of any of those "experiences" given on stage is questionable at best...
@petitebrunette:
I wish that I had never believed they were friends at all. They really aren't...
@agent zero:
Even the thought of calling it "The Truth" makes me gag. So much about the JW religion is arbitrary, isn't it?

dear sir,.
a complaint has been registered against you with the federal authorities in the usa.. the complaints center on slander and character assassination emanating from members posting on your jehovah's witnesses network forum, and online stalking.
all details have now gone to the fbi on federal plaza in new york for their immediate attention.. ([email protected]).
I'll have to agree with OUTLAW on this. This does sound a lot like something Alice would do. It's not logical or well thought out in the least...

sometimes the things they talk about are so unrealistic.
this person had everyone list occupations/industries that would cease to exist in the paradise.
it's interesting how they think that everyone is going to turn into a carpenter, builder, farmer, etc.
Serenity, why do you and others even bother with this? Nobody is listening and you know it! As the old saying goes: there's no reasoning with crazy...

Another couple I though of...
System of Things: Present World Order, Present State of Affairs
Fleshly Brother/Sister: (BLECH! ) Sibling I refuse to call any JW brother or sister anymore! They are NOT my fucking family!

For example:
Apostate: Ooooooooh!!! I HATE this one! I refuse to call myself that, especially since I no longer believe in any one "true path". I prefer to say that I'm a former JW, ex-JW, a Conscientious Objector or the like...
Disfellowshipping: The JWs are a pathetic excuse for a fellowship if you ask me. How about the proper term for it?: Shunning...
Worldly: This term is more commonly used in the context of life's experience and sophistication than lack of religion or "spirituality". How about non-JW or Normal instead?
The Truth: The truth? Really? It's all a pack of lies and we know it! I just prefer to call it The JW Religion, The Watchtower Religion, The (Watchtower) Publishing Corporation, The (JW) Cult, etc...
Illustration: WTF? I though an illustration was supposed to be a friggin' drawing or something. I prefer to use the word Analogy...
Experience: Way different usage than is common in non JW circles. Better to use the word Reenactment...
Isn't it about time we started using some different vocabulary here?
Any others you folks might care to add? Please discuss...

whenever a newbie signs on...my heart skips a beat.
i wonder if it might be my son?
my daughter?
It's always nice to see newbies here but hardly any of them stick around for very long. I don't think about the possibility of my having known them personally before; not at all. The odds of that are quite minuscule, if not infinitesimal, IMHO. I haven't seen one newbie here that I've ever known *before* IRL, by any kind of pure chance, and I highly doubt I ever will. Even the odds of any two posters here mutually knowing someone else IRL are still pretty small, even though it is something I have seen. I've only ever known complete strangers here and I have made completely new friends that I've never known before.
Enjoy the new acquaintances and new friends that you can make here. Don't worry about anyone you have known before. There is that universal tie that binds us all and that's why we're here...

like a creep, i've popped out of nowhere and i've been throwing my 2 around all over this forum.
i'm sorry it's such a long post.
i hesitated and delayed writing it knowing it'd be long.
That's quite a story you have, Velour. I'm sure that you've noticed other sad stories here but we're always willing to hear people out. I guess your story just goes to show that becoming a JW doesn't necessarily make anyone a better person... it's more like trading one addiction for another. We're glad that you've freed yourself and we hope that your siblings can do the same. Much love...
