hello, i am new and i feel soooo wrong about being here.
anyway i am an m.s and have been disillusioned ever since the new understanding that came out in october.
i have read many things on this board that i have and also have not thought about.

When you are ready to heal, I would recommend that you read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visiting Steve Hassan's website, and posting regularly on JWN to help you release your emotions so that don't let your emotions erupt onto unsuspecting JW family and friends.

it occured to me on my way to work this morning that the concept of honor is rather silly at best, and more often quite dangerous if you really believe you have it.. think about it, what good is honor supposed to do?.
right of the bat we can all name a number of really stupid things which are associated with honor: honor killings, for instance, where a member of the family is murdered for insulting the families honor (you wonder how the honor ever actually tells people it has been offended), or duels which was a sport between aristocrats.
then there is the honor of dead people which can linger on for centuries, a certain prophet comes to mind, and it seems even dead objects like flags, banners, documents or nations can have honor which can be invoked to kill or maim others.. what are the legitimate invocation of honor as a reason to act a certain way?
Please define honor.

To me my honor requires me to make decisions daily that are aligned to principles that I value. If I have no principles than I would not care about my decisions nor their consequences.

it was the roman catholic archdiocese.
even dissention within a hierarchical organization cannot guarantee that the rights of individuals will be protected.

Are most JWN members waiting on Jehovah along with their JW family and friends to help solve life's problems?
Would it help if JWN had a forum specifically for helping JWN members to become organized to help JW family members and friends?
My inquiring mind would like to know your thoughts.

hello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

some of them have rally helped me to understand and examine again my beliefs.. last new light concerning f&ds=gb has verified the idea that they are popes in the position op pope.. i still believe in god & in his son jesus christ but not in the gb..
Welcome Promitheas, You sound disgusted with the GB. How do you plan to control your emotions when talking with JW family members and friends? Reading and posting on JWN may increase your disgust with the GB. Since you are an elder, JWs in your congregation probably examine your actions more closely than other JWs.

Vienna Angelika - I agree that the leaders take it WAY too far. I do not hate them, but I want to help to be part of a solution.

I'm not a JW. A former friend who is a "Spiritually Strong" (gag!) JW tried to recruit me into the Watchtower. I like R&F JWs and feel sorry for JWs who are victimized by the WTBTS and its leaders. Of course my former friend has accused me of not being nice to her because I disagree with the WTBTS. I feel that the WTBTS is a printing, distribution, and real estate holding corporation that uses BITE control techniques to victimizes JWs.
How do you propose to be a part of the solution when the WTBTS's leaders point a shun gun at the mind of every JW?
I have three potential solutions. All JWs stop donating money to the WTBTS and stop using WTBTS literature when conducting bible studies - just use the Bible. My third solution would be to write to politicians to pass legislation to change tax and/or charitiable organization laws to require that all tax-exempt organizations and/or organizations receiving government assistance must promote to their members to contact law enforcement immediately instead of keep quiet about felonious crimes and must not promote shunning members and former members by an organization.

spent a couple years in my teens in the melita, mb one as well.. left 20 or so years ago and never been back.
now i live in winnipeg.. i imagine my story is typical.

my first year in la went by fast yet at times painfully slow.
you see, i moved to la from san francisco.
i always said by the time i am in my 30's i'd be living somewhere warmer, and that i did.

Steve Hassan's latest book might help your sister the most because of her relationship with her husband.

Welcome ((((((OneStepOut93))))))) and hugs. You don't have to lose your family if you plan your fade carefully. Before moving in with your BF, try to learn how to communicate better with your JW family and friends and get a better education. Think more about the pro's and con's of moving in with your BF. He may seem better and safer than living with your JW family today, but things can change in the future. Post what you want to do and ask other JWN members for advice.
Have you read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", or (his latest) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs") or visited his website? If you have some money, he may be able to give you better advice over the phone than most of the advice that you will receive here.
