My 45 Minute Conversation With JWs Today

as i was saying before the watchtower literature trolley has arrived in my little town.... my wife and i were in town this afternoon and i saw one of my former elder colleagues standing beside the trolley talking to a young man and reading to him from one of their books.

ray was one my least favourite people - he was everything that is bad about jw elders.

i went up to them and interrupted and told the man that this is a cult recruitment campaign.

I have a few few people at the moment that are translating articles Into Spanish. It is a long project, as getting Watchtower quotes in other languages from older years is time consuming. There are also a handful of articles now in other languages. It is hard finding people to translate and could pay for translation work, but it really needs to be done by a JW to get the terminology correct and I guess would cost a lot.

Hi jwfacts, Since you are traveling and using a smart phone, I apologize for asking more questions, encase my original questions did not convey my intentions. Is it possible to have dynamically linked QR codes to individual webpages such as the JWfacts pamphlets in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Estonian and Chinese and to what you would consider are pivotal webpages for JWs?

Is the QR code on JWfacts home page static or dynamic? I thought that individual dynamic QR codes might be more beneficial to monitor/analyze hits to individual webpages, to help prioritize your future efforts, and make it easier to modify individual JWfacts webpages in the future without breaking the link between a webpage and dynamic QR code.

If you asked for volunteer translators on JWfacts' homepage, you would get mostly JWs, it might inspire JWs/exJWs to volunteer, and it shouldn't cost you money for advertizing for translators or for paying for them.

Russian Parliament Approves Military Action in the Crimea

why did russian president vladimir putin ask the russian parliament to approve using military forces to keep the peace in the crimea, instead of asking the un?

why did the russian parliment pass a law approving military force instead of asking for the un to send peace keeping forces to the crimea (http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/01/world/europe/ukraine-politics/index.html?hpt=hp_t1)?.

is russia spiralling into a totalitarian dictatorship like germany in the 1930's and the soviet union from 1920's - 1990's with information control and coercive tactics?

Hi fulltimestudent, Have I said or done something to offend you? I don't care if people do not think like me. I only care if they independently research what they are told.

You can continue to try to whip me for all the aggressive and dirty tricks that the American government has done throughout its history to other people and governments to promote American interests, or you can choose to have a conversation and exchange of ideas on how to help promote change in governments/organizations for the benefit of all individuals and not for a specific elite few.

Before trying to give me more American history lessons, try asking a clarifying quesiton like, "How much do you know about atrocities committed by the American government and Americans?"

In my Junior High School (sometimes referred to as middle school) I received the Daughters of the American Revolution History Award for having the highest score (94%) on a comprehensive multiple-choice test in the entire school that I did not study for at all. I am well aware of and acknowledge that the American government throughout its history has been the aggressor and done atrocities to Native Americans and neighboring countries in the name of "Manifest Destiny", land grabbing, and has had a callous disregard of spreading disease (i.e., small pox being the biggy) to indigenous people. I did not personally nor do I condon what the American government or individual Americans have done in the past. I prefer to learn from my mistakes and others.

All I can do is write to the President and my political representatives when I agree or disagree with their actions. I have and will continue to do this about the Ukrainian Crisis, Health Care, revising income tax laws to protect people from dangerous cults, child abuse/molestation, and undue influence from BITE control. I like "win-win" situations instead of "I win you lose" situations, because I would rather make friends than enemies.

It seems that there are Russian's who are willing to critically think for themselves and express their opinions to the Russian government according to http://news.yahoo.com/anti-kremlin-protest-draws-thousands-moscow-160257721.html.

How can the Obama Adminstration be convinced to swtich from using inflammatory rhetoric towards Russian government officials, and instead communicate with words and actions that the USA and Western countries want Americans, Ukrainians, Russians, Chinese, etc. to critically think for themselves without coercion from governments/organizations?

IMHO the best way for Russians (or citizens from any country) to crtically think for themselves and achieve their full potential is for citizens to convince their representatives to enact constitutional protections for a Free and Pluralistic Press, Free and Pluralistic Thought, Freedom from Unwarranted Incarceration/Coercion, and independent Administrative/Legislative/Judicial branches of goverment and stringent anti-corruption laws to minimize undue influence by governments, organizations, and wealthy individuals.

The Dilaudid Delusion

due to an injury, i had to start taking some pretty powerful pain killers and stayed on them for about 1 1/2 months until i finally had surgery this past wednesday.

Hi Zoos, If you can, go for a quiet walk and/or talk to some positive non-JW people. Excercise, getting out of my comfort zone, having conversations with postive people, and seeing interesting sights usually make me happier.

jwfacts - I have been pondering on the great opportunity these stands present to ex-JWs. In my new place where I live I have only been called on once in 2 years. But I have seen a number of stands. If we start to go and speak to the people, they are our captive audience. Very quickly we could have JWs and the Watchtower afraid of using them. It would be good to have a discussion on topics to use, and things that have worked.

Hi jwfacts, Just having a reputable and balanced information source such as jwfacts.com to refer JWs to is a great asset - avoids needless debates. Please keep writing reputable and balanced articles that help JWs to "Critically Think" for themselves.

To help non-English speaking JWs, have you thought about advertising for English to other language translator volunteers to translate JWfacts articles on JWfacts?

i remember being out on service with an elder when i was 17. he asked me what i plan on doing after high school.

i told him i was thinking of going to college to be a teacher.

he then asked me, "do you think this system is going to be around that long"?

Good for you Trapped in JW land! No body else knows better than you what is in your best interest and will make you happy.

I wish you the best in successfully getting more education/training to qualify for a successful career that you will enjoy. "Critically Think" for yourself by doing independently and thoroughly researching what you want, making your plans, executing your plans, and adapting them as needed.

Hi fulltimestudent, Governments/organizations are controlled/influenced by people who are greedy and self-interested, as well as by people who honestly want to help other people. I can find faults with many administrations throughout history and the world. Winners of conflicts usually write the history (i.e., information control). Critical thinking requires an open mind and doing independent research of events to understand motives, intent, and consequences. Debating which governments have done or could do worse seems pointless.

IMHO standing up for my ideals and helping others to critically think for themselves is better than being miss-led by self-interested people using information control and BITE control techniques. There is not too much that I can do about the past, except learn from it. I can critically think about the future, make plans, and act in the present to help myself and others, who want to listen.

the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses is having a memorial celebration on april 14, 2014 at 7:05 pm pst at the westlake hyatt in westlake village, ca, usa.. i am thinking about greeting celebratants as they leave with poster(s) and business cards with qr codes for www.jwfacts.com and www.freedomofmind.com.

my intent is not to debate or convert "spiritual strong" (non-thinking) jws, but to provide life-saving information to "spiritually weak" (still thinking) jws suffering from the wtbts's "undue influence" and bite control.

i might even be eating crackers (and cheese) and drinking red wine at the exit.. my plan is to place up to three posters across from the exit of the celebration and then place business-size cards with "critically think for yourself" and qr codes on the back.

I would like to get a screen shot from the Unification Church saying that they are not a cult to replace the screen shot from www.jw.org describing what is a cult to the WTBTS so that I can get past a JWs shields.

HI villagegirl, Thank you for your concern, but I'm a retail trader and less adversely affected by high-frequency traders then large pension/hedge funds and market makers. Independent research and critically thinking is important when reading news stories - especially when someone may be plugging their book.

Any active retail trader knows that high-frequency traders help increase market liquidity by tightening the bid-offer spread. High-frequency traders may be able to beat large orders to different exchanges, but no one knows where the market will be headed in 1 minute versus in hours, days, or weeks. High-frequency traders may adversely impact filling orders for traders who trade > 10,000's of contracts, verses I, who trades less than 20 contracts and can be filled at one exchange. There are also tactics to counter-act perceived advantages of high-frequency trading like spreading large orders into smaller orders and sequencing orders to arrive at all exchanges within millisecond.
