I almost spit out my tea when I came to "Joe Hoover". LOL! Of course, only us x-dubs would be likely to find it funny...or maybe an active dub with an exceptional sense of humour...
interesting article.... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/oct/26/tsas-power-grope/.
the transportation security administration (tsa) has always intended to expand beyond the confines of airport terminals.
its agents have been conducting more and more surprise groping sessions for women, children and the elderly in locations that have nothing to do with aviation.
"please be gentile..." - no Jewish gropers for you, eh Darth Fader?
i was given the link to a bit of information regarding on old poster/moderator of this forum.
i was not sure of the validity of the information so have been trying to find out if it is true.. earlier today craig's estranged wife, kate, (bikerchic) confirmed that craig died at his home on aug 10, 2011.. i am sure that many people here remember craig's time here and how he went out of his way to offer support to posters, even calling them, to give whatever help he could as they adjusted to their post-jw lives.. i know many people here will grieve his loss.. --------------.
ps i tried posting this earlier but the computer i was working with would not allow the posts.
what??! oh, I'm so sad to hear this. I only 'knew' onacruise from his posts, but he seemed like such a genuine, nice guy.
First Jack Layton, now this. :(
found this article on a "gay like" man that was refused and it got me to wondering..i really didn't know the rules!.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/man-says-rejected-blood-bank-seeming-gay-151627659.html.
an indiana man says a blood donation center rejected him as a donor because he appears to be gay--even though he isn't.. .
In Canada, you can totally donate blood if you’re gay – as long as your gay is of the lesbian persuasion. ;)
Hey Scully! I’m curious as to your statement: “People who have had cancer are automatically excluded. They may not be a risk due to infection, but donating itself may be a risk to the donor, should their cancer come back” - why, exactly? In case surgery is needed? And/or defences for fighting off the cancer are down? Does donating blood regularly increase my risk of getting cancer?
And yes, re. “People who have spent more than 48 hours in jail are not allowed to donate. I can't imagine what happens once you've been in jail for 49 hours, but it doesn't sound good”; the first time I gave blood, I thought – geez! What’s happening in our prisons? Yikes! I don’t think a three-day stay in jail should mean rape is a foregone conclusion.
Oh and – props for “antecubital fossae”. ;)
title almost says it all.
i'm sure there are some canadians here, so please voice your oppinion - am i out of my mind to move there, or is it the best decision of my life?
- of course the answer is somewhere in between, but feel free to be extreme if you want to .
Hey Scully girl! Good to "see" you too! :) yeah...I still pop in from time to time. I don't think too much about jw stuff anymore, but I love the diversity of topics and opinions shared by this group. We X's really are an eclectic bunch.
Nicotine huh? Funny that...I've often thought that stale Timmy's smells like an ashtray...I'm sure it's not nicotine but still...there's something about that stuff! I've heard that it's because it has much higher caffeine content than most coffees...like you, I'm more of a tea girl now. Have you tried David's Teas? Love that place! Their perfect teacup is awesome. :)

Five free coffees so far! But I didn't win a thing the last time...guess that's how the cookie timbit crumbles sometimes...;)

I'm not sure why some people think of Canada as so "cold". Sure, it's colder than the southern US...and the further north you go the colder it is. But really, many parts of Canada, (my home province, for example), have winters that are equivalent to or even milder and with less snow than those of the northeast and especially midwest US...it's not that much different!
Oh and, if you're a coffee connoisseur, Timmy's is not for you...I know I risk my citizenship for saying so, but it's true. ;) That's not to say I don't drink it occasionally - I do. There's something in it that makes you have to have it! And don't get me started on how exciting it is when it's 'roll up the rim' time! lol
